Great Saber, Wrong/Damaged items, Strange Communication (in edit)
I ordered a Cal Kestis Survivor 89 hilt after hearing how accurate it was to the *real* thing and the price seemed good for what I was getting. I ordered it to the UK with £48 UPS shipping (2-5 days) and it arrived in 3 days. Communication was really quick when I had a slight panic cause I forgot about import fees (20%) but I was reassured, and then asking for config file.
The saber itself? Beautiful. They weren’t lying. It was bigger than I thought (but perfect, not Disneyland Savi’s workshop big lol) and feels like it’s right out of the game. Proffie install seems good so far too, even though I’ll mainly be displaying this. I like that it came with the nice box, bag, stand and blade plug too.
Unfortunately, I received the wrong allen key to secure the blade in place. I would’ve thought this would be tested and paired with the saber when they put the screw in the saber, cause that’s how it turned up. Also the display stand had noticeable damage on it and says Fallen Order instead of Survivor. I’d hope you’re spending this much money on something you want to display, it would have a bit more care and accuracy, and that you wouldn’t have to go hunting for a really specific little tool if you want to use the blade.
Great care was taken to protect the saber and make sure it’s looking perfect, so I was a bit surprised with the issues around it. These issues might seem a bit like I’m being dramatic, but it is a bit jarring when you’ve paid for that care and for someone to make sure everything’s correct. I might’ve just gotten a bit unlucky, cause I know a lot of people have had perfect experiences here.
Overall I wouldn’t discourage anyone ordering from here, especially with how amazing the sabers look and it was a decent experience. Just not perfect.
Edit: I have now received an email from the owner. Companies will usually contact you after seeing your reviews and try to help. AFTER this process, they will ask you to update your review to a higher rating. This is not what I have received from Shane. Instead, it is a passive aggressive lecture.
Firstly, about me not contacting him directly about the faulty items. The very specific allen key was just something I had to go get myself (not gonna wait for that to ship from the US when I can go to a local store. I could in fairness have emailed them personally about my stand, but I had doubts anyway with the import fees from US to UK, and after some previously blunt responses over an email format from Shane, I just sort of just said “meh whatever”. I didn’t have a big problem with those initial responses with how speedy and direct they were when I did get help, just the cold nature of the responses make you feel less inclined to “bother” them with any more issues.
Next about my “bad” review having “minus two stars”. My rating reflects an “average” experience. That is not bad, not great and not perfect, you are NOT entitled to a perfect rating review if it is not the case. And finally about the destination of my review being on here and not “on the website”, as if I didn’t want to just post an honest review on a good, independent, trustworthy, easy to find website for this so that other people would be aware of the positives and negatives. I will put my review wherever I want thanks lol??
At the time of typing this edit, my review remains at 3 stars. How the rest of my experience goes? It will be represented in the rating :)
Final edit: A refund was given for the stand which I appreciate, but for the ongoing communication issues, my rating remains where it is.
