I have used SafeScreener for several years, and they have always been great to work with! Great turnaround times and very helpful staff.
After a very long delay we received a report showing no background concerns. We wrote saying the person had a felony record and found it in a simple web search, and they did not. They wrote back with excuses. I would not use this company again.

I wish I had seen this review when it was first posted so I could have responded right away. We had not been monitoring Trust Pilot at the time. If a missed record is brought to our attention, we will always conduct additional research to determine if and why a record was not found during a criminal record search. There are situations when an existing arrest, no matter how serious, would not be found or could not be reported. We must abide by the Federal and local laws when it comes to reporting arrests as well as convictions. We are limited in reporting arrests that resulted in dismissals, expungement, and other non-conviction dispositions. Even a criminal conviction has limits determined by each state's law. This is for the protection of the applicant's rights, and to avoid recourse that could result in civil liability to the client or ourselves. Along with this, depending on the screening package, not every criminal record can always be found. Criminal records can exist in a jurisdiction such as a county court but not be found in a multi-jurisdictional (often referred to as a national criminal) database. If a database search or very basic search is performed to reduce the client's cost, not every county a person lived in will be checked. There is always a balance between the cost and thoroughness of a background check that comes into play. The last point I'll mention is that people often assume that if a record shows on a Google-type search, that a screening company should report the data as well. That's simply the case as these news archives and "mugshot" websites are not authentic criminal records and not FCRA-regulated sources. We do our very best to provide thorough and legally compliant data to our clients. Any truly missed record is taken very seriously and our processes are corrected if needed. I've used this company for tenant screening for many years. Customer service is excellent, especially Maria. Maria was very patient walking me through the system and making sure I understood how to use it.

Aboslutely abysmal communicators - you have various people e-mailing from the same address, sometimes not giving their name; people asking to contact past employers that you specifically marked as not-for-contacting, in SafeScreener's own form...; taking days to perform simple tasks...
Their jobs are going to be largely automated and they know it - hence their timewasting tactics (they can't make the job look too easy), and insistence on unnecessary, slow, human-based checks.
They've actually slightly lowered my opinion of the company they're screening me for, for being affiliated with SafeScreener at all.
