I completed the Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Health and Safety Leadership and Management in June 2024.
As someone who has always followed the traditional academic route for qualifications of ‘training course – revision - exam’, the format of this work-based qualification was a completely new concept to me and required a different approach.
The SHEC Portal was very easy to navigate and use, and the progress bar to show percentage completion was a good motivator to keep working through the units. My assessor, Nigel Lewis, provided clear guidance, promptly reviewed my submissions, and provided excellent feedback. I found that once I had made a meaningful start, the process was far less challenging than I had initially anticipated but the requirements for the qualification led me to deepen my knowledge in many areas of health and safety and expand my professional skill set.
I have no hesitation in recommending this qualification with SHEC.

My experience with shec who i chose to complete my Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety practice has been an incredible learning experience throughout, the platform is so easy to use and the tutors are helpful and supportive and the resources available on the platform make this really work, i had to extend by 6 months due to work commitments and this was accommodated by shec and i am delighted to day I have received my results and certification this week. When I was deciding on which route to take for my next learning path in H&S I discovered SHEC and discussed with Nigel my main learning objectives. It became clear to me that the NVQ Level 6 H&S Diploma was the way forward for me, it suited my learning style and was very flexible. The content of each unit is really well laid out with clear supportive guidance, and if that's not enough you can setup a video call with Nigel to explain further. Overall I would wholeheartedly say I not only met all of my own objectives but learnt a host of new ways of looking at H&S and presenting this to all levels of any organisations to get genuine buy in. Great support from the team at SHEC, Nigel Lewis who was my assigned tutor, clearly explained the course requirements and offered great feedback on submissions.

Initially, I attempted to complete the course with a different provider. However, I encountered significant difficulties due to the complexity of their platform and prolonged waiting periods for assessor responses, leading to considerable frustration.

Upon a colleague's recommendation, I transitioned to SHEC. The experience was markedly different: the platform was user-friendly, and the assessors were notably prompt in their responses. This change significantly enhanced my learning experience and efficiency.

Based on my experience, I highly recommend SHEC to all learners seeking to obtain their Health and Safety qualifications efficiently and effectively.

The whole process from start to finish was fantastic. Never felt under pressure to enrol, all the options were explained, and lots of questions were answered.
The course materials, the support network, the assessment timings and module feedback were excellent, structured, and helpful feedback to keep you on track.
At no point did I feel as though I was on my own, knowing I could get support whenever I needed it.

I completed my Level7 NVQ Diploma in strategic Health and Safety Leadership and Management with SHEC and my assessor Nigel was great, he was very prompt with reviewing my work allowing me to move through the units. If you are looking to do a NVQ then I would highly recommend Nigel and SHEC. Submitting the workbook and evidence for the NVQ was easy through the Quals Direct system that has recently been upgraded.
