Secure facily with modern electronic access

I dropped by unannounced on Saturday afternoon and asked if I could see a unit so I could gauge the size; I had tried another facility earlier in Sunbury but the experience didn't instil confidence.

I was escorted around the facility by the very helpful "Catia", she appears to run the entire facility herself.

All of my questions were answered in full and based on what I saw and Catia's positive testimony regarding company policy and procedure, I decided on the spot that this was where I wanted to store my "stuff".

I signed up for a unit to start the following month; I've just seen it and it's better than the one I was originally shown by Catia (I was already impressed with that one).

I had no issues using the electronic access via the phone app and feel confident in the security of the facility.

Rude staff



Even not deserving 1 star very rude and unexperienced staff in the Hanworth branch and rude manager I have booked a storage and went to move in after 2 days been told my storage has cancelled without send me an email or text message to notice that while I was going to move in with my full heavy items in my van

Issue with getting access to my storage unit at Hanworth location

I have rented a storage unit at their Hanworth, London location, signed the paperwork, provided my id, paid and received my keys.

Came back a couple of days later only to find out I wasn't able to access my storage. As it was weekend, the office was closed, there was no one able to help me. I've spent around 2 hours on the phone and then waiting for a manager from another location to come down and sort it out for me. As I was moving houses, my removal company was on their way to put my belongings in the storage. I had to reschedule them and obviously pay extra, as it was already too late to start the move.
The experience was absolutely terrible, super stressful and there was no fault of mine- turned out that one of the employees at Hanworth forgot to grant me access to the storage on their system!!
The manager from the Surbiton location who came down to help was amazing, as has been the manager from the Hanworth location who apologised for the situation the following day. Unfortunately all these don’t change a fact that the whole situation should not have happened in the first place and is absolutely unacceptable.

Good customer service

The team at Hanworth Shurguard were friendly and helpful. Paul explained how everything worked and was particularly helpful when providing access. I was shown the different sizes of the units and the general customer service has been excellent. I can recommend using this service.

A very good self storage …

The gentleman on reception was very helpful and informative. Shurgard was very clean, as well as the unit we booked, plenty of trollies to transport our goods . so in all very pleased

Untrustworthy. …

Made a reservation online & was phoned very early the next morning to complete it. Told me that it was mandatory to take out their insurance for £18 a month & asked if that was ok. I said I wouldn't have it if I didn't have to & was told it was a legal mandate & I had to have it. I've since found out I could get the insurance from anywhere & can get it for £15 a year!!! Was told no admin fee as I'd reserved online. Was emailed a link to pay, paid the figure quoted and they also took an additional £20 unauthorised, from my bank as an admin fee!

Good customer service

I am one week in to my Shurgard journey and am pleased so far. Customer service with Afonso was A*. He called me to remind me of my storage start date, helped to check me in, sorted my key and the unit door that I couldn’t open! Very friendly and willing to help. Opening doors and gates etc is easy with the app and so far has been smooth.

Very good service

The efficiency of the system is very good.
I just booked the storage from another country, made the ID validation online and after that everything was settle and I was free to go without needing to go by the office which makes everything super easy because you can go in from 6am to 11pm which gives you a big range of times.
With the app you can unlock the door without even getting out of the car.
The instructions were clear and everything was as expected.

Everything was perfect, easy and comfortable.
