Unfortunate experience, buyer be aware

Unfortunately, this company is nothing but a scam. David and his associates took a £11,000 deposit from me. Yes thats right an £11,000 deposit. They stopped answering the phone, stopped emailing and responding. I am out of £11,000 after believing the hype. Please check the reviews for his other companies. This company will only take your money and run.

I note in Companies House that there is Elizabeth Henley Limited, and also Elizabeth Henley Design Limited - which has been changed to Smart-Tilt Ltd.
PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY ITS FRAUD Still Awaiting DEPOSIT BACK PAID IN 2023
In May 2023 David from Elizabeth Shutters visited our property to have a look and give us estimate to fit our shutters. Since January 2024, I have been chasing David for installation date and David confirmed he is still in process of manufacturing them as he had some delays its only him and his other partner working on them as they are handmade by them two only. After In March 2024, David gave me another excuse after I chased fitting date, he confirmed his machine is broken he is waiting for new one and its very expensive. He also said he is waiting delivery of hinges some parts he needs to complete the manufacturing. We have lengthy conversations over the phone number of times where he said he is thinking of moving manufacturing to China as it will be quicker, he needs to show companies product and how its manufactured, so quality is not compromised as they are still made at good standards at faster speed. On 19th April David sent me pictures of some ready shutter (not mine he said he just sent these to show product), I circled around damage on them he called me and informed me these are not ready yet needs to be sanded down and painted again it’s not finished product as I started to worry about the quality of the work. Since I have chased fitting number of times still without shutters. I called David again on 24th July for date, but I received message back saying, “Will call in the morning machining for a while.” I asked again by message “when are you fitting, its end of month now.” I didn’t receive any reply. Next day on 25th July I sent further messages “I told him he is supposed to start fitting now he said 2 weeks ago 10-14 days” reply I received was again same “we are working on them; it is taking longer. On 26th July I sent another message as David confirmed over phone, he will start fitting them on Monday saying, “you starting to fit on Monday or not?” I didn’t receive any reply. Again, I tried to call but this is not answered I sent another message on 27th July saying, “you haven’t started fitting as promised again and didn’t give me date yet
David also Informed me over the phone, he had taken too many orders and as its just 2 of them, they are not able to complete orders, fitting are delayed lots of people are chasing him for completion or asking for refund. He didn’t think while taking orders demand will be high, product will be this popular and he won’t be able to fulfil them on time. This is same time when he said to me over the phone, he is making enquiries in China to see if they can manufacture over there with same quality to speed up the process and quality remains same. FRAUD AVOID

This company is FRAUDULENT

The Director, David Henley, is acting in non-compliance with the Insolvency and Liquidation frameworks, taking monies when he knows, with certainty, that his ‘business’ cannot survive. Please check Companies House and search for David Henley to see how many companies he has opened and the subsequently liquidated because he cannot fulfil orders. These acts are fraudulent and he WILL end up in prison once all legal proceedings are finalised. Active litigation is in progress.

I am gathering people together for a class action.

We met David at an exhibition in 2025 trading then as Elizabeth Henley Design Ltd we ordered in good faith, paid a deposit, had a home visit by David and received nothing accept excuses and hardship stories, always told we would receive a refund but it never materialised, there are many people who have experienced the same with EHD Ltd and now Smart-Tilt Ltd (changed company name Aug 2025 now trading as Smart-Tilt Ltd, look on companies house to see Smart Tilt Ltd Company number 15887033 previously traded as EHD Ltd (check out their reviews) Do not part with your money! David William Henley we would like our £2000 deposit back please!

Been in the industry for 40 years

Been in the industry for 40 years, followed David for the past 4 years on the design and development of Smart-tilt and we are now selling and installing there Easytilt model and it’s the only shutter we sell, a great British Design.

We had 4 Easytilt shutters fitted and they are excellent it’s a unique British design, we were told the story of the experience of trying to manufacture in the UK, ours are made in the Far East and the quality is excellent.

From Great to Exceptional: Smart-Tilt Has Taken Shutters to the Next Level

We had a shutter made for us a while back when David was still manufacturing in the UK, and even then, the quality was outstanding. From the very first interaction, David was open, honest, and passionate about his work. He explained the challenges he was facing with productivity at the time, and I suggested he look into manufacturing abroad to help scale up without compromising quality. Fast forward about 18 months, and it’s incredible to see how far Smart-Tilt has come.

The new shutters are on another level — beautifully engineered, smooth in operation, and clearly built to last. The powered option, in particular, is a genuine game-changer. It combines modern convenience with classic design in a way I haven’t seen before. The attention to detail in both the product and the installation process really stands out.

David has also gone above and beyond with his customer service. He personally put me in touch with a local retailer, who was just as professional and knowledgeable. From the first consultation to receiving our sample and placing the order for our bay and bedroom windows, everything has been seamless. Communication has been prompt, friendly, and informative throughout.

We’re genuinely excited to have our new Smart-Tilt shutters installed — if the samples are anything to go by, these will completely transform the look and feel of our rooms. I couldn’t recommend Smart-Tilt and the team more highly — it’s rare to find a company so committed to both innovation and customer satisfaction.
