Terrible safety boots. Desintegrated after 8 monts.

I purchased SolidGear safety boots expecting durability and reliability to match the £220 price tag. After fewer than eight months of fairly standard use-nothing extreme or outside normal working conditions-the boots began to fail in multiple areas. The sole started separating from the upper, which quickly worsened to the point where water started seeping in. I sent the boots back and got told it's fair wear&tear. (a pair of Caterpilars last close to 2 years in my work) Never buying products from them again.

Absolutely disgraceful company

Absolutely disgraceful company. They charge a premium price for products that are anything but premium. Yet another £85 pair of work trousers that lasted less than 6 months. The material and stitching gives way, the zips break, the material frays. On contacting customer services they passed it off as wear and tear. These products are not fit for purpose. My husband and sons are all in the building trade and the only work wear that has let them down are SNICKERS. These used to be good many years ago but now they produce such poor quality items but still with a premium price tag.

I bought a pair of Snickers trousers…

I bought a pair of Snickers trousers for my son, when a fault developed I brought them back to the shop, where they told me that Snickers work trousers aren't covered for faults, eg. Seams giving way, riveted buttons coming off. The young lad wearing the trousers is slim and the trousers are a good fit, not working in a very tough environment. The trousers were over £90 and bought for Christmas. I bought four pairs some costing £119, but same rules no matter the cost, not covered. I'm confused what qualifies them as work trousers? Are these fit for purpose?

Gone down hill. A long way: Snickers generally / 3223 trousers specifically

The company seems fine. They deliver what you buy.
I've had 3 jackets, some knee-pads and about 10 pairs of trousers from them. All used to be excellent, the best I could find, and as far as I know the non-trousers could still be good.

The rest of this review is only is about the 3223 Floor layer trousers.

These were perfect for electricians like me, we're often down on our knees working, too. They're tough and have ideal pockets. And they used to be very comfortable.
This is where we come to the gone down hill part.
Snickers are obviously trying to save money to keep the price down with inflation being so high but to do that they have made these trousers so uncomfortable they are un-wearable.
They have used a shorter zip and taken a lot - A. Lot. - a lot of material away from the crotch. Now they are so tight I had to take them to a clothing alterations place to have a large piece of my old pairs put into the crotch as a gusset to make them wearable again.
So the cost of that and taking the hems up - because I have normal length legs for a human and you can only buy one leg length now - very long, the cost of alterations was £37 per pair.

You don't expect to pay £122 for a pair of trousers and then need to spend another £37 so they are fit for purpose. But that's what it takes.

But they are still good once you've done all this.

They pair well with the 9119 knee pads which are expensive (£40 odd) but last forever and are excellent.
However you will need to make your own adjustments here, too, to make the knee area acceptable.

The knee pads are made for these trousers but they stretch the material of the trouser legs over your knees and your calves so they rub and can take the skin off.
If you cut the knee-pads down around the edges so they are smaller and cut some apparently pointless stitching in the pockets the pads fit into they aren't so bad and you can wear them all day without skinning yourself too badly.

Also a note to Snickers; the knee-pad holding pockets are a little too low so the tops of the pads rub against your knees when you walk. Couldn't you move them up an inch or so?
Also; couldn't you offer the non restrictive crotch version for a higher price? I'd pay it. I pay it anyway with the necessary alterations.

I'm finally writing this although most of this has occurred over the last year or two - they were excellent before then.
