The solar and battery system was commissioned on Friday, 24th April 2026, towards the end of the day. However, only a few hours later, the entire system went completely offline, which was extremely disappointing considering the significant amount of money spent on what was presented as a bespoke system. Unfortunately, despite the sunny weather over that weekend, I was unable to utilise the system for its intended purpose at all.

NextGen arranged for an EcoFlow technician to attend on the following Monday (27/04), and the system was eventually brought back online through factory resetting, rebooting, and further troubleshooting. However, from my perspective as a customer, I remain concerned that there may have been an issue with the wiring or configuration from the outset. I am not a technical expert, but a newly commissioned system should operate smoothly from day one unless something has gone wrong somewhere during the installation or commissioning process.

Although the solar and battery system has now been installed and commissioned, several important issues remain unresolved and require urgent attention. Unfortunately, despite multiple emails, phone calls, and follow-up messages, I have received little to no response regarding the outstanding works.

From day one through to commissioning, I dealt directly with Greg Bishop and Alex McKinney. However, since the final full payment was made, both have stopped responding to my emails and messages, with no call backs or meaningful communication. I feel completely ignored despite several unresolved issues still requiring attention.

The main concerns are as follows:
System Isolation / Gateway Configuration Concern
During connectivity diagnostics, the electrician isolated the entire solar system, including the inverters and batteries. Unexpectedly, this also disconnected the property from the main grid electricity supply. In a properly configured setup, isolating the solar installation should still allow the property to draw power directly from the grid, but this did not happen. This raises serious concerns regarding the configuration, functionality, and operational safety of the system.

Connectivity and Monitoring Issues
The system frequently appears offline, making it difficult to reliably monitor generation and performance data through the mobile application. A Wi-Fi booster was installed in an attempt to resolve the issue; however, the connectivity and stability problems still remain unresolved.

Exposed AC/DC Cabling and Incomplete External Works
Live AC and DC cables have been left exposed without adequate protection or covering. In addition, a garden tile removed during installation has not been reinstated properly, leaving the external area unfinished.

Poor Render Finish Around AC Cabling
The AC cable beneath the rendered finish has not been properly reinforced or secured, resulting in the cable repeatedly protruding through the render, which is both unsightly and concerning from a workmanship perspective.

Missing Spare Ways in Consumer Unit and Gateway
As per the agreed quotation, spare ways were expected to be provided within both the new consumer unit and the Gateway installation. However, I do not believe these have been installed as specified. Despite requesting clarification several times via email, I have received no confirmation or response.

Overall, while the installation itself has been unfinished the lack of aftercare, communication, accountability, and resolution of these outstanding issues has been extremely disappointing. I hope the company takes these concerns seriously and resolves the remaining works promptly and professionally.

Must admit we were not thinking of solar panels and it was only a chance email that made us think. Having decided it was something we would consider, then contacting NGRE and exploring with them our options we came up with a proposal based on their initial survey. All our neighbours were supportive and had no objections with us fitting roof solar panels, which was encouraging. The surveyor was professional and able to explain the system in layman's terms to a non-electrician that was easy to understand. Once the decision was made to go ahead then the team that followed: electrician; solar panel installation engineers; and scaffolders were all polite and professional in carrying out the equipment fit. In spite of a slight change in layout of the original proposal the installation went smoothly in a timely manner. We are now getting much enjoyment watching how the app works monitoring how the battery is charged and discharged, and given it is all based on AI with no human intervention which for us is ideal!!!

We would have no problem recommending NGRE.

Excellent service from quotation via a survey & install dates to actual scaffolding & installation, followed by instructions on how to use the system.

Very informative about the choice of systems, the survey was to explaining the system and the location of the equipment. The scaffolding went up on the Friday on time by a friendly team, on the Monday the installers arrived on time and on completion explained how the system worked and helped withe the App on my IPhone. great service from all I dealt with 5*

From the beginning to the end, our dealings with Greg and the workforce at Next Gen Renewals was a pleasure. When we asked for a quote, Greg was very quickly at our house for an assessment, followed up within 48 hrs with a competetive quote. At all times we were kept informed of progress. The job was made more complicated because we had asked that the PVs were fitted in conjuction with a new roof. Thanks to Greg this worked seamlessy and the work was done on time to a very high standard. The whole process was made very easy for us by the professionalism of the whole Next Gen team, led by Greg.

Perfect service from the start no pressure to make decision. All questions answered however stupid they felt.
Installation guys were polite and professional. Sam explained full instal to us and assisted us with ensuring the system met our expectations and was correctly and safely installed.
