Just done the 2-day mile builder sailing course. Absolutely fantastic, nice boat and Tim the instructor was brilliant. Nice friendly, calm and highly knowledgeable, explaining each manoeuvre with clear steps. Plenty of practical experience over the 2 days with Tim on hand hand to explain things calmly, building great confidence. Highly recommended if you feel a bit rusty and need to get back into sailing. I hope to do another course with SBT soon.

The first course I want on was fairly good although I had a run in with the owner when trying to give him money for a second course. Left me feeling a bit undervalued and when I tried to express how I felt I was threatened instead of having things smoothed over. Seems fairly typical of the boating and aviation worlds where most of the boats/aeroplanes are owned by a small number of people who feel rather powerful.

Nice boat, Simon the trainer was brilliant and very clear with his information.
Im sure this will help me a lot before I do the day skipper course.
Only 4 of us doing it which meant plenty sailing.
Highly recommended.

A cheeky 2 day mile builder before it gets too cold and wet. Great weekend with great crew members who all had a wide range of experiences to listen to and learn from. Matt the instructor was great, always patient and explaining stuff but allowing us to have a go. Can’t fault SBT instructors…. Always practical but kind.

Just returned from a 5 day Competent Crew course. The instructor, Simon, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, calm, and very patient with this complete beginner. We learnt so much and Simon did his best to provide different ways of learning. It was a very fun course as well, I'd recommend it to anyone.

Lvl 2 Powerboat Training. WOW… Amazing hands on practical training - loved every minute with Matt our trainer who kept us aware & alert & on our toes at all times. Excellent facilities, amazing friendly & diligent staff. Certainly made me aware of the hazards on such a busy boating area and gave me confidence in handling a powerboat. This course is a must for any novice looking to understand how to handle a boat with confidence and what to look out for when you are the captain!

what a great experience, I've just completed my PB4 with day and night navigation Bryan our instructor was a wealth of knowledge and both of my crew mates Dave and ben made the weekend SBT great people and all of there equipment is top draw i would highly recommend there services

Just done a 2 day sailing mile builder/refresher after advice from SBT to make sure I was back up to speed having not sailed for a long number of years. This really helped. Our instructor Debs was great, getting us to work as a team and really enjoy it.
The following week was my day skipper practical. Matt was a great instructor and again got us all working as a great team.
The best thing about the practical is their policy of 2 day skippers and 2 competent crew which gave us all plenty of time doing our respective roles rather than 4 day skippers all trying to do the same thing.

Having just completed the Motor Cruising Day Skipper practical with Solent Boat Training. I can recommend this course to anyone who wishes to open the door to Motor Cruising. Delivered on the Rodman 35ft training boat having a flybridge offered the experience of interior and exterior control, a great experience on a comfortable and pleasure to operate vessel. The experience was enhanced by the instructor Rob McInally who’s patient and relaxed approach inspired us to achieve the techniques associated with handling this twin engine boat. The night passage was a highlight and great fun. Thank you Solent Boat Training.

Just completed a 5 day RYA Day Skipper theory course with SBT. I can highly recommend it. They run with small classes of 8 which gets you a lot more help from the instructor than larger classes elsewhere.

Sean was an excellent tutor. I'm on the older side of the students and my memory isn't as sharp and it's a long time since I've been in a classroom. Sean saw me through some of the more tricky concept and now I feel like I have a decent grasp of the subject.

Decent prices too. Looking forward to doing the VHF radio course and Day Skipper practical with SBT soon.

Had to cancel last minute due to illness. Doctors surgery messed up my insurance claim. Tried to get on the ‘goodwill’ list with Solent. They offered me a place day before another cancellation after 8 months and then said I was off the list after 10 months with no attempts to contact me. Pretty poor customer service. Be careful.

Day 2 & 3 with Mark for the Powerboat Level 2 course. Really friendly great course, loved both the classroom (at 50 i did not think I would!!) and the practical….

2 Day PowerBoat 2 course with Solent Boat Training was exceptional.
From the initial welcome I felt safe and in good hands.
All staff are extremely approachable and friendly thought they are there to accomplish serious training which they deliver in a very professional manner.
Our small group had Michael as our trainer, not only was he very clear with all aspects of the course he also gave us wise insights of what we need to continue to do to get the experience we need to be safe on the water as well as many tips on how to enjoy our new found passion. We met many other members of the team, Sam, Matthew & Sean who also had a passion for us to get as much as we could out of our training.

All in all, a very professional team, fantastic training and the equipment was top notch and very well cared for, I would not hesitate to continue my learning journey with SBT!

Amazing time on my competent crew, day skipper theory , vhf radio and day skipper practical courses. Did lots of other sailing with them as well.
