Look Beyond the Social Media! - Poor Communication, Unfulfilled Orders & Lack of Transparency
It’s rare for me to write a review, but I want to share my experience so that others are aware of how this business operates. If you take nothing else from this review, please be mindful that what you see on this company’s social media is heavily curated. Critical comments, legitimate questions and customer concerns are actively deleted, and customers are blocked to prevent negative experiences from remaining visible.
I ordered eclipse glasses specifically because the website promised “special guaranteed delivery by 1pm” and guaranteed delivery before the eclipse. There was no alternative postage option. Despite placing my order well in advance, the glasses never arrived, and emails sent directly to the owner went completely unanswered. By 1pm on the day of the eclipse, I still had no glasses and no meaningful communication from the business.
I then discovered that numerous other customers were in exactly the same position. Initially, customers were told that all orders had been dispatched. The subsequent explanation was that the business had been overwhelmed by orders, the website had crashed while attempts were made to close it, and there had simply not been enough time to fulfil everything before the owner travelled to Mallorca to watch the eclipse. In a later post, the owner acknowledged that orders remained unfulfilled and that refunds were being processed.
Crucially, the earlier claims that orders had been dispatched, combined with the lack of communication, meant that myself and many other customers were left believing our orders were on their way. This deprived us of the opportunity to source alternative glasses in time for the event.
I completely understand that an unprecedented rush can overwhelm a small business. That isn’t really my issue. It is how the situation was handled. Mistakes happen, but I believe customers should be given honest and timely information so that they can make informed decisions.
What I found particularly disappointing was how the situation was presented on social media. While customers were still waiting for orders and struggling to get answers, the owner was instead posting a significant number of stories from customers who had received their eclipse glasses. The business owner also shared a jokey video which, given the circumstances, came across as mocking the situation. At the same time, comments from customers raising legitimate concerns were being removed and when I questioned this, I was blocked.
The business claimed on social media to have helped over 40,000 people and fulfilled 75–80% of orders. Even accepting those figures, that would mean approximately 8,000–10,000 orders were not fulfilled. That is a significant number of customers who may have been left without their orders, despite the much more positive picture presented online.
I ultimately had to contact my bank to obtain my refund. The bank contacted the business before taking any further action, and my refund was then approved literally at the 11th hour. I also became aware of other customers reporting unexpected recurring payment arrangements when speaking to their banks. Something for potential customers to be aware of!
I understand that mistakes happen, and I genuinely support small businesses. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I could not recommend this company in good faith. Spend your money elsewhere; there are many small independent businesses that handle challenges with integrity, honesty and transparency.
AVOID!!!
AVOID!!!
Paid for guaranteed next day delivery, items failed to arrive. Emails to address listed on their invoice bounced back as undelivered. No goods arrived days later. Thought had been scammed and no correspondence so put in a chargeback with bank.
Sollunae.com disputed the chargeback and nearly 1 week after failing to deliver Amy (director) finally contacted via email. However this was essentially to ask me to cancel the chargeback as only then would they issue a refund. Apparently the number of chargebacks could hurt the business etc. I declined as once a chargeback is cancelled it can't be reinstated so I let the bank deal with it. I lost all trust in sollunae.com.
With all my evidence of failure to send goods the bank honored the chargeback despite sollunae trying to dispute it.
Would never order from company again. Lack transparency, communication and failed delivery. Would give zero stars if I could.
Red flags everywhere from this company who fail to deliver goods, don't communicate effectly and now are deleting all posts on social media. This is seemingly to wipe out all the negative posts from the masses of customers who experienced similar problems. There were hundreds of posts on Facebook and instagram which have now all disappeared.
Amy Clayton is registered as the owner and I have just noticed "Beth Clayton" is posting 5 star reviews on here....... yet more red flags as looks like they are getting relatives to post positive reviews.
Avoid sollunae.com at all costs and get eclipse glasses from a reputable company to avoid disappointment.
Brilliant Company, Great Quality!
Brilliant company, communication was excellent as I had a few questions. Glasses arrived on time and were perfect quality. Will definitely be recommending!

Just another follow up on this awful company.
I received a generic email from Amy admitting my order was never despatched, but asking if I could cancel my chargeback as it would affect her business. Based on the experience I’d gone through obviously I did not do this.
She then tried to dispute the chargeback with Barclays (not sure how as I had 2 emails from her confirming my order was never sent and that I was in fact entitled to a refund).
Luckily, Barclays saw through her lies and disputed whatever rubbish claim she had and the chargeback was final and my money returned.
Awful company, liars and disgusting customer service.
Ordered the glasses but got money back
Ordered the glasses but there was a problem with the special delivery . To be fair this was mentioned on the website . Glasses never came but Amy was true to her word and refunded the money . Despite some banking hiccups, she found a way to get my money back to me. She was also very sincere and grateful for my patience . Would use them again.

Spent £99.95 on eclipse glasses from sollunae website.........the never arrived, I was sent an email on 15th August stating I would get a refund, the refund apparently failed so I went to my bank and got a charge back to get my money back! Absolutely appalling customer service, rude on socials to customers, blocking people and comments, not replying to emails etc! I would never order again and definitely wouldnt recommend........avoid like the plague!!!

This is a follow up as the saga continues. Only email received was asking me to cancel chargeback I made through my bank account. Then she will refund, which I won’t do. She has changed her story so many times and I have no reason to trust she would actually issue a refund once I cancel chargeback and then I would be left out of pocket with no further recourse, if she doesn’t refund in the end.
She had also blocked me from Facebook and her Sollunae instagram account, but there appears to be another Sollunae instagram account page called ‘eclipse glasses now’, which again is another huge red flag, that has a link that leads to the same Sollunae website.
Please read all the other reviews to make the best decision for you.
Our eclipse event was ruined by this company and the whole experience has been a nightmare in trying to get a response, apology and refund. We are still waiting on the final decision on the chargeback from our bank. Although I have sent all the screenshots and all the emails and social media messages to them, that went unanswered, so they can see the evidence of what happened.
The owner of this company has restored…
The owner of this company has restored my faith in human nature. I was very cross and felt scammed when I ordered last minute and paid extra postage to receive my eclipse glasses which didn’t arrive. However, the owner of this small business reached out by email to apologise and explain that Amazon cancelled her advert causing numerous demands on her website which she tried unsuccessfully to shut down so that no more orders could come through. I was still a bit sceptical when she said she was working through refunding people. However, my refund has now appeared on my credit card statement. Thank you very much.
Spent £99.50 on solar eclipse glasses…
Spent £99.50 on solar eclipse glasses with this company. Never received them and over 3 weeks later still no refund. Emails bounced back and just got one terse response from the owner saying to wait.
Bank has refunded me through charge back for now.
Would never buy from them again and couldn't recommend them to anyone.
Lies, rudeness and no empathy
Shocking. It’s clear the business became overwhelmed, but my experience has been plagued by misinformation, contradictions and blatant lies.
The excuse that they “took too many orders and couldn’t shut the website down” is waffle. They continued taking orders because they were seeing the money come in. They then publicly claimed that all orders had been completed, which meant I didn’t pursue alternative options, only to find my order was never even dispatched.
After eventually getting a generic response blaming Royal Mail and other factors, they again stated on Instagram that “all orders have been sent.” So which is it?
I was then contacted by Amy, the owner, with rude and passive-aggressive messages asking me to leave a positive review and remove my legitimate chargeback because it was apparently “hurting their business” and could have consequences. I was also told they couldn’t refund me while the chargeback was ongoing, which is simply not true.
This is a masterclass in how not to run a business or treat customers.
And please don’t hide behind the “I’m a small business” defence. Small businesses should have better customer service, not worse.
I genuinely wish the business no ill will, but there are consequences to running a business this way, treating customers like this and publicly providing misleading information. Banks have processes for a reason, and I have followed them because I paid for goods I never received.
If the consequences ultimately have a serious impact on the business, that’s a shame — but hopefully it becomes a valuable lesson: take responsibility, communicate honestly and do the right thing. Trying to shift blame and cover mistakes only makes things worse.
And posting videos afterwards mocking the situation with “preparing for my Netflix” is frankly appalling.
There’s nothing funny about taking someone’s money, failing to fulfil their order and then mocking them for being unhappy about it.
Take some responsibility. It really isn’t that difficult.
Order was never received
Order was never received. The company stated on social media that ALL orders had been sent, yet subsequently said that only 70% had been dispatched.
I then had to chase repeatedly for my refund. I was initially given the wrong refund reference, had to identify the correct one myself, and despite being told the refund had been successfully processed on 15 August, it took considerably longer to actually reach my bank.
The communication throughout this whole situation has been appalling and, given the contradictory information provided publicly, I simply don't have any confidence in this company.
Would not order from them again.
Ordered glasses in plenty of time for…
Ordered glasses in plenty of time for the eclipse but despite saying they were on their way and giving a tracking number they have never arrived and despite numerous emails I have never had my money refunded disgraceful way to do business!!
Small business making amends for failures
I ordered eclipse glasses twice from this supplier. The first order arrived perfectly the week before the eclipse 👍. The second order was a lastminute order with promised delivery in time. Goods did not arrive. I was angry and disappointed. Subsequently this small business has contacted me to explain that when many Amazon suppliers couldn’t meet their orders and modified delivery dates for glasses ordered from them the sollunae.com website was overwhelmed with lastminute orders which it could not fulfil. It was also apparently unable to stop the website taking the orders as the website was continually swamped (this bit I take on trust).
Communications since then have been good - a full apology from a small business dealing with angry customers and vast numbers of refunds to be processed. My money has been refunded in full within 3 weeks. I am satisfied. The business owner has handled an awful situation as well as could be expected after the event. Of course people are angry if they couldn’t enjoy the eclipse. But a small business was overtaken by the enthusiasm for the UK eclipse and the failure of other suppliers. I should have ordered everything in good time.
This company is biggest scam around.
This company is biggest scam around.
Lied about delivery of glasses, paid for next day delivery, happy too take ya money but couldn't provide the goods.
When trying to reach out to their email, automatic fail to reach, took it offline. Then when trying to email actual owner was responded with a automated reply about too busy dealing with the orders.
Yet been caught doing interviews in Spain during eclipse.
Anyway I had enough of this company and wanted a refund as not received the goods paid for. As lack of communication and response and almost no replies to all the other upset customers I decided to do a charge back with my bank.
I shortly get an email saying I would get refund and not to do charge back again another automated response.
Hell no, if you think im cancelling charge back.
I had to suffer and now you can suffer as a business.
Bank reached out to them and they didn't even challenge or engage with my bank about it.
Bank credited my account.
Avoid this company at all costs, regardless of being a solo business, should of been planned better, if you cant handle the traffic and demand then dont sell the product and stop giving out your poor excuses.
It’s a scam
I never do reviews however the false claims this company has made ive made the exception and gone to the effort of writing a review.
Ordered glasses paid extra for delivery as promised on the website they would be delivered in time. However they were not. This company hides under the guise of being a small over whelmed business. However it’s a scam. If given notice that they were “overwhelmed with orders” I could have gone elsewhere where. However they promised on social media all orders had been sent. This was a lie. They then said they would issue refunds and sent me an email asking me to no claim the money back via my bank as this would delay the refund this was also a lie. They have said all refunds have been issued however this was also a lie. My bank thankfully gave me back the money today and my claim was successful. The company also sent an email stating they had a lot of negative reviews and please can I put a positive review on Trustpilot even if refund was successful. However the refund was not given by the company. So there is no positive review that this company deserves.
I would advise extreme caution of ordering from this company. You will not get your items. You will be filled with false promises and you will have to fight for a refund.
Avoid
I ordered solar eclipse glasses from this company because they advertised guaranteed next‑day Special Delivery. Not only did my order fail to arrive the next day — it never arrived at all.
When I tried to contact the company, I discovered that the email address provided in the order confirmation was invalid, and my message bounced back.
Growing increasingly concerned, I checked their social media pages for an alternative contact method. There, I found numerous customers reporting the same issues, which raised further doubts about the legitimacy of the business.
In response to the rising number of complaints, the company posted on social media claiming that all orders had been dispatched and would arrive in time for the eclipse. This was later contradicted by a statement on the day of the eclipse admitting that many orders had not been sent out. As a result, customers — myself included — were left with no opportunity to source replacements and felt disappointed, misled, and let down.
Understandably, many people feared they had been scammed and initiated chargebacks with their banks. When I did so, I discovered the company had not only taken payment for the original order but had also set up unauthorised recurring charges.
After initiating the chargeback, the company contacted me and attempted to persuade me to withdraw the dispute — something I was not comfortable doing given the circumstances. On social media, they also urged customers to withdraw their claims and stated that those who did not would be dealt with last, with their cases likely to be challenged. Their communication came across as passive‑aggressive, towards those who had expressed concern or taken steps to protect themselves.
I can appreciate that a small business may become overwhelmed by a surge of time‑critical orders, and while I would still be disappointed by the failure to meet a guaranteed delivery promise, I would understand the operational strain. However, the company’s handling of the situation has been extremely unprofessional making the situation significantly worse. I will not be using this company again.
If I could give 0 stars I would
If I could give 0 stars I would. I have been scammed by this company. Still waiting for a refund over 2 weeks later. Issued a chargeback that had been challenged. She said she refunded but then said she didn’t. Then said she did. Then said she didn’t. Still no money. She wants ME to pay the £15 fee for a chargeback that I still haven’t received the money for. Which is a joke. She’s provided false evidence to the bank saying she refunded me before I issued the chargeback but I have evidence with time stamps on my emails that this is not the case at all. So if she will not issue the refund and pay the £15 chargeback fee then the next option is small claims court. I suggest you never ever use this company ever.
Totally unprofessional. No communication. No item received. No refund received. Blocked on all social media accounts. Ridiculous.
Avoid
I paid an inflated price for items and next day delivery. There was no communication. Despite confirming on social media that all items ordered by a deadline had been sent, the company later backtracked. Didn't respond to emails. Sent a blanket email saying that a refund would be issued... still waiting for the refund two weeks later.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would! Cut the crap your ruining a small business bla bla bla. Boring now you’re nothing but a lyer!! AVOID
