Bad product and even worse customer service
I would strongly recommend that you spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. I bought a pair of their “stronger than steel,” $80 “carbon fiber” shin guards for my wife who plays in a recreational soccer league. They looked great, but her right shin guard cracked within a year for no apparent reason. She was never kicked and she stored the shin guards in her soccer backpack after each game, so they were definitely not abused or mistreated. My wife and I are both avid mountain bike riders and almost all of the components on our bikes are made of carbon fiber. Neither of us has ever had an issue with anything cracking, despite being put through extremely rough conditions with significant stress and impact. That was the first red flag that made me very skeptical of the material and quality of the “carbon fiber” that this company is using.
However, I spent 4 times more money on these than on standard shin guards, so I chalked this up to potentially being a fluke and thought maybe it was just a one-time defect. So I decided to reach out to the company to see if they would stand behind their product and offer a replacement. After a few back-and-forth emails and me sending pictures to customer service, they said they were going to send me another pair of shin guards. I received an email saying that the order was confirmed and that I would receive another email once they shipped. Unfortunately, that was it. I never received the shipping email and never received the product. After waiting for two weeks, I then sent multiple follow up emails to ask if someone could look into the issue or provide an explanation. Crickets. I never received a response to any of my follow up messages. It was as if the company had completely shut down, and/or were just purposely avoiding sending out a replacement product.
Anyway, I am not one to write reviews and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. But this company and their product deserve to be exposed for what they really are… especially when they are charging a very premium price for a subpar product and customer service. In today’s society where more and more items need to be purchased online, it would be great to have a roadmap for what is garbage and what is actually good quality and a legit company. If you took the time to read this, here is your roadmap for Speed Demon. Look elsewhere if you want a reputable company and a better product at a fraction of the cost. You also cannot read or write reviews on their website.
