Unfortunately, based on our experience, I would not recommend this company.

We agreed the project would take 3 months, but due to repeated delays, poor organisation and poor communication, it took 6 months. Although we dealt mainly with Ivan, he was rarely present and did not properly supervise the work. The project was essentially left to one person, Mat, to carry out, which raised serious concerns about supervision and quality control.

Ivan did not even complete the bathroom. Instead, he hired a random man to carry out the silicone work. The silicone was applied messily and caused leaks, resulting in damp to the kitchen ceiling below. We contacted the company about this, but they stopped responding and left us to deal with the problem ourselves.

The electrical work was particularly concerning. The person carrying it out was not a qualified electrician, yet was expected to complete the rewire, and we were given what appeared to be an fake electrical certificate.

There were also issues with uneven kitchen cabinets, gaps around the sink and damaged or poorly fitted flooring. Throughout the project, issues were repeatedly delayed or left unresolved, while we were also asked for additional payments.

Overall, we found the company unprofessional, poorly organised and extremely disappointing. We strongly advise against hiring them, especially for a whole-house project.

I strongly advise people to avoid this company. Their response to my genuine concerns has been extremely unprofessional, including mentioning someone called Simon and an alleged court case unrelated to my experience. This company hired Matt to carry out my project, and I have receipts to prove it. Continuing to deny this only raises further concerns about how they handle criticism and accountability. My experience has been extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend them for any work, particularly a whole-house project. Please consider other companies before making your decision.

Really happy with my renovation. Was little mess and done to a high quality. Everything went as planned and I’m super impressed, would definitely use this company again. Anything I asked for was done super quickly and everyone was very fast to respond/answer any questions.

The team were great in responding to my initial requests and subsequent design ideas for my bathroom. They provided recommendations for materials and furniture and took care of the delivery’s. Yordan, who fitted my bathroom, explained in detail what would be happening and if I was happy to go ahead. He gave good ideas when there may have been an issue and communication throughout was excellent. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this company for you and should I need work anywhere else I will come to them first. I absolutely love my bathroom and so does everyone who has seen it!

We are extremely satisfied with the service we received from STEP-AHEAD Renovations and his team! From the very start, they were highly professional. Ivan visited our home, took all the measurements, created a design, and sent us a proposal. Once we agreed, the bathroom renovation began, and it was absolutely stunning! They not only stayed on schedule, delivering exactly when promised, but also provided continuous support. Ivan and Matt, project managers, were always there to answer questions and acted as a perfect link with the builders. They were extremely responsive, quick to reply, diligent, and truly professional. We absolutely love the result and are so happy with the work. They were also very quick and met the exact timeline they promised. We highly recommend them to anyone looking to renovate their bathroom!

I discovered Step-ahead renovations company via Checkatrade. This was a big home renovation involving multiple areas in the house and I was very worried about having poor workmanship and/or being scammed. I am pleased to say, none of that happened.
The project was to fully renovate our bathroom and change the adjacent cupboard in the room next door into a stand in shower, full renovation of downstairs WC, change 10 of the internal doors including the frames, painting of doors, hallways and the kitchen.
I read multiple brilliant reviews on the website and interest in my project was made by Ivan and his team.
After initial discussion, Ivan visited our property, took measurements, advised on sizing of fixtures etc and potential design layout. He created a 3D imaging of the bathroom and WC, using the tiles I had selected and standard bathroom fixtures. It was great to see the potential of what the rooms will look like.
After that, he helped select appropriate items for the bathroom and WC, which I finalised before purchase. Many of the order purchases, including tiles, Victoria plumbing baskets and whatever the builders needed, Ivan dealt with. Never hounding me for money or asking for payments upfront. This I appreciated greatly and made me trust Ivan even more.
The breakdowns for each of the jobs were laid out clearly. I had emails with the quotes for each of the job and how the payments would be made.
One point I will make is that the quick on the day deliveries of smaller items can be very costly to the customer because of the delivery charges. So I wonder if it’ll be best to anticipate with the builder which of these items will definitely be needed and have them purchased at the shop in advance of the job, in order to avoid multiple delivery costs. The costs of materials did come out much higher than expected. But I’m grateful to you for helping with returns of unwanted items and reimbursing for items I was previously charged for. Ivan and Milen were very honest with providing receipts.

Our builder for the bathroom, WC and the internal doors was Milen. He worked so so hard! Absolutely brilliant workmanship and work ethic. He had great ideas and our bathroom and WC looks amazing. We have received so many compliments from family and friends when they visit us. He managed to change our downstairs WC into a wet room which we didn’t think was possible. My father who is ageing is so pleased! It has a manual shower pump that works well and the overall look of the wet room is so impressive!! He was always really neat and tidy. Every day he would clean up around the house. If there were any accidental damages, he fixed them immediately. We cannot thank him enough. I would highly recommend Milen for your project :)

After him, Yordan and Vinnie came to do the painting job. All the internal doors, hallway and the walls attached to the doors that were affected, needed painting. They are such a wonderful and adorable couple! Worked super hard and went above and beyond to finish the job. They even did extra things like fix the door hinges in a cupboard in my room, painted the skirting and stair panels with paint they had left over and painted any additional walls that became damaged. Never complained and always had suggestions of what would be best. Yordan changed two architraves for us that he didn’t even need to and fix minor door problems. Honestly, I’m super grateful.

I am so pleased that we got Milen, Yordan and Vinnie for our project. Our house looks beautiful and the workmanship is to such a high standard. I would highly recommend them all and this company. You will not feel pressured to pay until you’re satisfied and that’s what helps build trust. Thank you again!!

Step-Ahead did a brilliant top-to-bottom bathroom refit for us. The work was completed to a very high standard, very methodically, thoroughly and with great attention to detail. Communication was excellent throughout, with quick responses to any query. Our builder was unfailingly polite, pleasant and punctual, and the work was completed on time. Highly recommended!

WOW ! We are so happy with the transformation of our en suite bathroom. Ivan and Stan went the extra mile to make sure we got what we wanted. The whole process and full understanding what we were paying for with no hidden extra costs made it stress free and straightforward.
We would have them back any time to do further works with no hesitation .

Really quick and friendly communication and comprehensive quote etc, and the workman Yordan had such high attention to detail, very clean and tidy, a lovely manner and went the extra mile. Stepahead handled our family bathroom. They extended a wall and reseated sanitaryware, dealing with uneven floor joists quickly and kept everything on schedule. Brilliant workmanship.

Workmanship of very poor quality and if you read the reviews there not only seems to be a pattern emerging but they are showing their true colours with the replies. We have photographic and video evidence of all the issues they caused us and thankfully if potential clients read these they will look elsewhere. Do not be fooled by other reviews this company.

We hired this company in May 2025 to renovate a small bathroom. The work began without issue, but we were left with multiple unresolved problems and looking for another contractor to finish the work as this company is now unreachable. This is adding more than 10% costs to our renovation.

The shower was installed but appears not to have been properly tested, as it leaked over several days. Parts inside were left untreated and began peeling after a week. The company returned several times to reseal the shower, each time instructing us not to use it for over 24 hours.

We were told that our supplied materials were suitable and our basin tap dimensions looked perfect, but the basin tap approved by the installer did not fit the space in the end. Despite this, it was still partially installed and became non-refundable. We had to pay for 2 expensive taps at the end.

We later noticed issues that were not reported to us during the work: damaged paint and trim in the living room, poorly installed parts in the bathroom, sink overflow not functional and a missing access panel that had been requested. These were not acknowledged until raised by us. The company declined to correct these items, requested immediate payment and unexpectedly added additional labour charges that had not been agreed beforehand.

After that point, email communication became unclear. The company responded with contradictory and inaccurate replies, telling us we caused damage for their poor work and did not try to understand the issues we raised. The person managing the project did not return to the property to inspect the concerns and only relied on a 360 photo that doesn't show the faults. Finally, the company stated they would escalate the issue with a debt collection agency and potentially court action.

The work was delayed, and on one occasion we were told it would be completed that day, so we stayed nearby waiting, but the work wasn't finished, and we had to arrange last-minute accommodation. They missed their own repair deadlines multiple times, often arriving later than agreed or cancelling with little notice.

They also over-ordered tiles and other materials, assuring us they could be returned later. However, we were left to handle the returns ourselves. We only received a partial refund, as the company did not follow up with the supplier or return the excess tiles as they had promised.

As of now, the renovation remains incomplete, with several concerns still unresolved.

The team was professional, friendly, and respectful throughout the process. They paid attention to my vision and turned my home into a space I absolutely love. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again for future projects.

I have used their services in the past. We were very satisfied. Do not hesitate, very good quality of work.
