Extremely helpful and supportive. Offer you several ways to beat the debt and the decision is yours, but you are fully supported throughout. Getting through on the phone can be difficult, but I appreciate that it’s just a charity. Have really helped me through my own difficulties and are completely non judgmental. Would highly recommend.

What a fantastic charity step-change are. I’ve gone from being overwhelmed by debt and unmanageable pay back amounts, and now I’m actually debt free.
It’s been very helpful to be able to update my debt management plan over the years to suit my current budget and I felt I could be truly honest about my expenditure .
The support line is busy but fantastic, as well as having an online account.

I was struggling until I was suggested StepChange. From start to finish they were amazing, they helped me set up a DMP (Debt management plan) as I get overwhelmed easy with lots of questions a lovely woman walked me through it step by step until I was able to do the rest myself. Any questions I had about my debt they would answer straight away. After the year was up of paying it I was given a congratulations in the post and it made me so happy knowing that one little change helped me be stress and debt free. So if you’re looking for the reviews about this company, let this be your one and take that first step to make a change.

I’m a single parent with a mortgage and probably left longer than I should have done to seek help, constantly moving the debt that I did have to interest free credit cards until I could not longer do this and the payments were crippling me - even more so as I was starting to pay interest on some of these.

Plus I was also scared that it would affect my mortgage and such.

I am glad that I sought help and looking forward to the next 12 months where I actually start to make a dent in what I owe and get more straight without the anxiety each month where I would constantly go into my overdraft. In order to keep my head above water.

I was on the verge of giving up or another alternative then was to take up another loan or credit card that I wouldn't be able to pay back.
Stepchange came to my rescue and I immediately felt relief as soon as I was given the opportunity to breath again " breathing space".
Those 2 months of not having to pay anything while stepchange took charge and sorted out my repayments by talking to the creditors on my behalf, were a real relief.
The team at stepchange never judged me or made me feel bad about my situation.
They did not force anything on me, but instead gave me the opportunity to list what my other outgoings were, and then the rest was spread out and divided between my creditors.
They were always helpful when I had a question or even if I had a new creditor to add to the list.
It was great to see my credit score start to improve steadily after each repayment.
I am truly grateful to Stepchange for giving me the opportunity to live again and able to save more now going forward.

From start to finish the care and compassion from anyone I spoke to was incredible during a really stressful time no question was ever made to feel like it didn’t matter .this has changed my future more than they will realise after years of paying huge amounts of debt and now Im able to pay back but just smaller payments . The whole process from the beginning has been easy to circumnavigate. All the advisors are very kind helpful, and non judgmental. Exactly what’s needed at what is a very uncomfortable and difficult time.

When I first contacted step change I'd just started a new job after my previous employer went in to administration with no warning and no wages paid either. I was using my credit cards to pay minimum monthly payments on my catalogue, credit cards, store cards, overdraft. I was not sleeping worrying about my spiralling debts. Step change sorted a payment plan out contacted my creditors help me take control of my debts and I was finally able to sleep again at night. Every year a did a review of my plan and as I got more hours at work could pay more off and reduce my debts and the years left to pay them. I've finally finished and am debt free the first time in over 20 years (was robbing Peter to pay Paul before step change got involved) I've no credit or store cards just a small overdraft for emergency finally leant to control my spending and if I want something I save for it. So grateful to step change totally changed my life fir the better.

About to make my last payment, having start in May 2023. Over 9.5k paid off, the knowledge that I am nearly done is a huge relief. Really appreciate Stepchange for all their help, including times when I’ve been struggling. Anybody I have spoken to at Step Change have been so knowledgeable, kind and non judgmental. I find talking about my finances very difficult and embarrassing too but they always put me at ease. Id racked up quite a bit of debt when I heard about Stepchange from a friend of mine. Best phonecall I had made in a very very long time. They were so helpful in getting me back on track and setting up my plan. The best thing about them is that they were understanding and I never felt judged and was always comfortable communicating with them. Highly recommend them to anybody.
