Stewart Hotel NYC
My daughter and 2 of her friends flew to New York for the weekend. They checked into the Stewart Hotel Friday morning. While she was face timing me to show me the room there was a knock at the door. The girls did not answer until the women on the other side said House Keeping. When they opened the door I could hear the woman talking to them. she had a Caribbean accent. I heard her tell them to be safe as they were 3 girls alone in the Big City and to pay attention to their surroundings. She told them she would be off until Monday so she was leaving extra towels. I have seen too many movies so I told my daughter put a chair to the door and keep your phone near by. On Saturday morning around 11:00 New York time a young man using a key opened the door and walked in as they were getting ready. NO KNOCK AT ALL. He ran off as the girls started screaming and getting ready. They went down stairs and complained to the manager they were not staying in that room and didn't feel safe. They upgraded them to a suite but I needed assurance they would be safe while in those four walls. I called and was disconnected 3 times I was on hold over 20 minutes. the operator asked for my number for a call back I never received one. Instead the manager called my daughter and told her I was blowing up their phone and asked if she was really 21. I waited till today when they had officially checked out to speak with a manager. I want to reiterate I only wanted to be assured my daughter would be safe while in their four walls. I am not sure what the outcome will be but only 3 things come to mind in this situation. 1. they were going to be robbed 2. They were set up for human trafficking 3. both. This post could have been averted if the Management team had called me back and informed me their building was safe and it must have been a misunderstanding.
