I have an Embergher style mandolin…
I have an Embergher style mandolin which had a split on the sound body on the right hand side, stretching from the tail piece to the dragon emblem, next to the sound hole. it had been like that for three years as I found a person in Northampton who said that he would sort it for me, only to phone me at the last minute to cry off. This treatment put me off sorting it so it stood in the corner for three years. I was recently urged to get it sorted and I was a bit reluctant but I bit the bullet and started my search and found one person near to where I live who said, "no I can't do it as it is far too specialised, it put me off but I was urged to continue my search and I was so pleased that I did as I was recommended to Leo Crossfield by a Stringed Instrument repair company based in Cambridgeshire. I was intrigued and delighted with the service, from the very beginning to picking up my Embergher style mandolin as I was given a realistic price, I was updated with photographs of the repair to completion of the mandolin and what a repair job it is fantastic and so solid now underneath where the split was, The repair is second to none and to think people cried off from taking on the job. I am so pleased I found Leo because his answer when I told him about the local man, 'It is only a piece of wood for goodness sake'. In my opinion I don't think any repair job would scare Leo off and the repair of stringed musical instruments would be carried out to perfection. He is a warm, natural and professional person who corresponds quickly to emails and who gives updates of the repair every step of the way and if the repair is not as difficult as anticipated then he adjusts the price accordingly. He is a perfectionist who deserves all five stars.
