The worst reporting software
This is my first-ever review. And I'm doing it because I'm tired of dealing with this software. I've worked in many tech companies, some of which have Tableau as their reporting system.
For god's sake, the hours of my life I lost trying to set up, navigate, and work with this software won't ever come back to me.
It's insane how such a bad system can turn into a standard industry.
If you have a chance, please try any other modern reporting tool, AI integrated with a modern and simpler UI, omni, stripe, hex, whatever, except this. DO NOT doom your company.
Growing badly
Great software overall, and support from EMEA/USCA is generally reliable — but the Account Managers and Solution Engineers come across far too pushy (sale). As for Tech Support in India, the experience is frustrating, low tech product knowledge, KPI focus, not really customer focus. Tableau is going down since Salesforce acquired it. Don't trust them.
Misleading Onboarding Led to Salesforce Billing Trap – Terrible Experience
Review:
I tried to explore Tableau to learn data visualization — but without clear warnings, I was redirected into creating a Salesforce account and got unknowingly enrolled in a paid subscription.
As someone new to the platform, I had no idea that Tableau and Salesforce shared accounts or billing systems, and I never agreed to any paid service. I reached out immediately to cancel, but both Tableau and Salesforce ignored my requests until I was eventually billed $120 — for a service I never used.
This was my first interaction with Tableau and it left a terrible impression. The experience felt misleading, unfair, and designed to trap new users into subscriptions they don't even realize they’ve started. I’ve since deleted my account and will never return.
If you’re new and trying to learn Tableau, be very careful — what looks like a free educational trial could secretly activate a Salesforce contract.
Worst Software I’ve ever used
Slow, glitchy, confusing, and overall horrendous software. Feels like it was made in 1995 and never updated since.
you can't save
Ignore the bad reviews. Learn it, then review it. Fantastic software.
I have no idea why so many people give this a bad review other than perhaps they don't know how to use it yet. There is a steep learning curve, but the things that you can do with Tableau once you know how to use it are priceless. Spend the time to learn it. Then you'll love it. Is it quirky? Are there some usability issues that can be improved? Definitely. But it can take millions of rows of complex data and get you the information and/or visualizations you need to make sense of all but the hugest datasets.
Easily the worst software i have ever…
Easily the worst software i have ever been forced to use, in the corporate environment. Ive been in IT support for > 20 years. The whole concept of storing data connections within these tableau workbooks means you basically cannot copy workbooks between environments. So its useless for regulated environments. The overly complex user permissions, The incredibly unintuitive tableau desktop development environment.. the list of problems is endless . I could spin up a node webserver with express js and have a simple excel-like dynamically updated worksheet probably within a week. i have been fighting with tableau for over a month. I have already told my boss that i refuse to work with this product and find me something else, or i walk.
Worst customer service ever!!!
Worst customer service I ever experienced in my professional life. Don’t buy this product!!
Do not buy software, awful support and sales people
We have had a really bad customer service issue with getting this software billed correctly and are really disappointed with the lack of accountability with the sales rep and good luck with getting a refund on software (Tableau) if you have problems. My boss and I were excited to try Tableau with our business data to make reports and get better data analysis as their ads imply. We bought a one year trial and got connected to a sales rep that created another account and proceeded to charge us for another subscription. After multiple attempts to get them to use the subscription that we paid for and failing, the President of our company decided to ask for a refund. We now stand with a debt collectors notice and have not used the software since we tried the initial set up. Avoid this sales force company!
Think twice before signing up…
Think twice before signing up to Tableau. As a small business you will get no service or support and they will try to get as much money as possible from you in any instance. Very aggressive sales tactics, highly impersonal.

My experience with Tableau was in connection with Salesforce. I can say that my impression rather mixed. On the one hand, the user-friendly interface and various visualisation options are awesome. It's great for diving deep into data and discovering insights effortlessly. However, the price can be prohibitive for small budgets, and data preparation can be difficult. In addition, some custom data connectors may be required. a full tableau app review with guidance and conclusions in portal SFApps.info, where I'm an author. So if anybody is in doubt, it could be useful.
Aggressive unpleasant experience
Aggressive, unpleasant experience.
Until this week I was a big advocate for Tableau - as a data consultant, it was my preferred tool for clients to use. Not anymore. For one client renewal they've acted unreasonably, threatened debt collectors etc.
Suffice to say I'll be warning everyone to avoid them. What a stupidly short-sighted move over a single license at renewal. The client won't use them again, and we won't advocate for them.
Avoid!
The worst customer service ever
Since it was acquired by salesforce their service went down the gutter . The account reps response time increased and most importantly the level of service turned to one of the poorest that I've ever received.
Moved to looker
Billed erroneously for a second license and Tableau hasn't resolved
Our company had one Tableau Cloud Creator license and when we downloaded the Desktop version, the only way to do it was apparently through a "free trial" even though our rep told us that our Creator license price included the Desktop version. I asked our rep:
"Question for you - I downloaded Tableau desktop today, but the only option I saw was to sign up for a 14-day trial. I thought it was already included in our subscription so I wanted to make sure that the 'trial' doesn't cost anything extra when the trial period is over ? " And her exact response was, "The trial does not cost anything, it is a free trial. I do see an active trial in your file - you are ok to use it if you'd like. Once it expires your license will take effect."
I told her that she hadn't answered my question and asked for a call to discuss and never received a response. Meanwhile, Tableau did add another license (that we did not request) and it has been weeks and they still have not resolved it and keep sending us "outstanding invoices." Beware - their pricing and the way that they handle adding licenses is not at all straightforward and response times are terrible.
Poor Customer Support
Great tool, but horrible customer service operations backing Tableau. I believe Tableau should have its own Customer Support team and not a sub of Salesforce. With the cost of the Tableau License one would expect a better support service. Too bad!
Terrible site
Terrible site, terrible dashboard, impossible to delete account, impossible to contact support

Spammy cold calls from a call centre in India. Numerous calls.
The worst Customer Service
A powerful tool but the worst customer care I have experienced, if you have an issue better you cancel the subscription and find another software.
Powerful Software but bad support
Tableau is one of the most powerful analytics software including drop screens and dynamic filters. But the customer support for us has been very poor and unstructured.
