Great process apart from the fact that I had to have 2 separate appointments due to BUPA. Very quick, easy and great staff.

I am impressed by the service that I received from the Functional Gut Clinic. I was provided with a quick consultation followed two days later with a detailed report that recommended what treatment I should take. I had two procedures with the clinic. I was provided with relevant and appropriate documentation prior to my appointment that included an explanation of the procedures that were to be completed and what was expected of me in terms of taking or not taking medication and timings of when to eat before my visit. On the day of my appointment I was warmly greeted and the clinician was professional informing me of the procedure and guided me through the process without discomfort or issue. I recommend the Functional Gut Clinic, great staff and great treatment. I am greatly impressed and above all really pleased with the procedures and their results. Thank you.

I’ve held off on writing this review to make sure my results weren’t “accidentally” lost (I’ve had a company do that before as I made a complaint).

I was due to have tests here that involved eating a portion of food. I have specific dietary requirements after having been very very unwell. I emailed the clinic in advance and they confirmed they would be able to meet them and even told me what products they would make available to me.

Unfortunately when I got there they had none of them. It was apparently a total surprise to them and they then went and got 2 items - both of which contained ingredients I am not meant to have. As I was so desperate to have the test and find out what was wrong I felt I had to pick one and stupidly did so rather than stand up for myself and insist they do what they had agreed.

I was then very upset for the duration of the test as I was petrified one of them items I ate was going to make me unwell again and spend an hour in tears due to how distressed I was.

Over the last 2 years of being unwell I unfortunately have experienced some very shoddy care from both the public and private sector which has led to me having medical trauma.

While this incident did not cause it, it had certainly not helped and has helped destroy any remaining trust I had left of the profession.

To add insult to injury this is something I personally will be paying for not my insurance. So I have essentially been paid to be distressed by the clinics utter lack of care which is just fantastic.

Was very nervous about my treatment but I had no need to be. Liz was fantastic at putting me at ease and made a nasty but necessary treatment the best it could be. She was very professional, knowledgeable and understanding. Would thoroughly recommend the functional gut clinic (Manchester).

I’d been sceptical about going private for gastric tests but I couldn’t have had a better experience. I was having issues with my NHS gastroenterologists who refused to believe I had any GI issues, so I ended up getting a private consultant and did a gastric emptying breath test with The Functional Gut Clinic, who not only were super supportive and made adjustments to give me the best care but also confirmed that I have a delayed stomach motility. Now I can go on to get the right treatment. I am so beyond grateful and I recommend this team to anyone looking for some guidance and answers for their issues!
