When dealing with the estate of a deceased family member the law firm group, previously known as Sheppersons acted totally unprofessionally, created more stress with no attention to detail and did not complete work which had been paid for requiring another solicitor been instructed. Totally incompetent.... avoid at all costs!

In December 2015 Stuart Q Murphy solicitors completed the purchase of our home for us. We had used Stuart Murphy several times previously and highly regarded his service. Unfortunately, he retired in 2019 and his business was taken over by The Law Firm Group (TLFG). Recently we had to request our conveyancing file back from TLFG because of a neighbour dispute (they were trying to remove some of our driveway access rights). Despite multiple requests for the complete file, and stressing the urgency of the matter, after several days I only received 1 document. After further chasing I was told the file would only be released on payment of £312.00. I queried this as The Law Society guide notes state most of the documents were my property. I was told the file had to be 'perused' and scanned. I queried the cost to be told whilst the job would be done by an admin assistant, there was no charge rate for that so I'd have to pay a partner's rate. Because of the urgency I had no option other than to pay the £312.00 which I advised was being done under duress. I was deeply shocked and disturbed by the experience and can only advise people DO NOT TO USE THIS FIRM unless they are willing to be ripped off.
