Wonderful cruise aboard Caledonian Sky
The help we received from the crew and staff aboard Caledonian Sky was exemplary. My husband has mobility problems and was assisted (discretely!) whenever necessary. The boat crew were professional and kind, and the bar staff brilliant in anticipating his requests. Unfortunately, he couldn't disembark too often but was quite happy on the ship with the library and the balcony of our cabin from which he could observe toing and froing of marine activity. There was a very friendly atmosphere aboard and the staff were fantastic; friendly but not intrusive. Obviously well-trained and well chosen for the ship. We'd certainly use the ship again - small enough not to be impersonal but large enough to provide personal space. As for the food.....! wonderful choice even for vegetarian me. And excellent wine varieties. Pre- and post cruise hotel choices were convenient.

The boat was very well designed.cabin very comfortable . crew very helpful and friendly food excellent
Only one complaint - the itinerary gave a meet outside the cathedral at 12.45 to take us to the coach for lunch but food excellent
only one complaint the itinerary gave a meet outside the cathedral at 12:45 in Salamanca to take us to the couch for lunch but no one met us ( two 80 + in the heat ). We heard that the organised tour finished early but we had self guided ( after telling 3 guides that was our intent ) + were there before time + could not understand why there were no other fellow travellers ! When eventually we rejoined them our reception was chilly !

Fantastic and interesting cruise on a great ship
From the point of deciding to go on this cruise the process was simple and efficiently conducted. There was difficulty in finding the agent upon leaving the arrivals hall as she wasn't showing her board and was standing on the wrong side of the exit. The transfer itself was a bit long and tortuous presumably because the pontoon used by Travelmarvel is about as far away as it could be. The walk from the coach to the boat was long and across a floating pontoon so a bit dodgy and definitely hard for some of those with mobility issues. However once aboard everything was great. The welcome was superb and we were quickly shown to our cabin. The port talks and information meetings were excellent and informative. The food, waiting staff, drinks waiters, and cabin crew, trips, scenery, coach trips, guides and activities were top notch and very much impressed us. The transfer back to the airport was fine as it was an early transfer, but again marred by the long walk from the ship to the coach which was also late in arriving by about 20 minutes. This was our second TravelMarvel cruise and we look forward to our 3rd! I have mentioned the few niggles to help perhaps some `fine tuning' but we did have a great time with super company and thoroughly enjoyed it!

Levels of distinction becoming obvious
Generally a very good experience with helpful and attentive staff from the nautical, house keeping & restaurant staff.
However the nuances between the luxury side and this premium cruise are becoming very self evident instead of general sublties.

Having to climb over other ships to get on or off wasn't good at all ,especially as I have knee problems, also the portions of food at the evening g meal were not enough to eat,and the tours could have been better x

Our ship
Our ship, the MS Estrella is very tastefully furnished from staterooms, through to restaurant and entertainment area. The Chef’s menu recommendations and the Douro wines made evening dinners a treat. Service onboard was excellent, and together with a very professional and knowledgeable events manager, we could see how well the whole team gelled. Over all the trips were good, well organised the mix of afternoon and morning trip times, allowed time to rest and recharge.

Needs more planning
Ship and crew were excellent. Tours were rushed, visit to Salamanca was pointless on a Sunday for the free time we had. Guimarães visit should have been longer, after guided tour not long enough left to explore the city. Would not do the Douro river again.👎☹️

Travel went smoothly
Everything went smoothly, the boat was nice, staff helpful and food good BUT it really was not entirely suitable for a disabled person taking a mobility scooter (me) and the tour manager failed to advise me of uneven paving on one stop despite seeing me being off-loaded from the boat. That did spoil the particular day and resulted in us staying on the boat and missing other stops. In summary we would not go there again.

Our hats off to the Chef and his team. He was very helpful with our dietary needs. Every staff member was very polite, very professional and very patient with the Geriatric passengers. Thank you each one for making our vacation great
The rooms could have been a little bigger.
Our boarding experience was not a pleasant one. We had to drag our suitcases a long distance to get on the boat. This definitely needs improvement

Absolutely five star all the way if I had to find a fault it would be be as trivial as softer toilet paper please and that is the only fault. Staff were excellent, helpful, happy and attentive without being intrusive. Food excellent. Room good but overfurnished for size. We stacked the two armchairs and coffee table in a corner. They were a nuisance.
