Despite what I read from other reviews my experience with Dara from Tuff Trek has been quite different and I must say that I take no pleasure in writing this review.

Initial delays due to Brexit caused frustration and some misunderstanding between us. In all fairness Dara called me to put the record straight and offered free accessories as recompense, which in my mind drew a line under that issue. Upon arrival of the my items however I noticed a couple of discrepancies. The ladder was not telescopic as advertised and a quick release mount kit was no longer key operated due to a design change that had not been communicated. Upon raising these issues the response I received began with his quoting how many emails he had received from me to date regarding my purchase. As other reviewers have admitted to, I also had a lot of questions regarding my purchase and despite Dara answering them all, my having so many has clearly irritated him enough to call me out on it.

He admitted being surprised by the ladder but would not remedy it and instead spent half his reply dragging up our old exchanges regards delayed shipping despite this being resolved and my not mentioning it since. I much appreciated his good will gesture. He then reminded me of how the mounting accessory, who’s new non locking design I questioned, was the one Frontrunner already refunded to compensate for shipping delays. Furthermore, in his frustration, he instructed me to return everything undamaged, complete and on original packaging despite my having not even got round to installing the tent yet (?). As irritating as the misadvertised ladder was, I had no intention of that putting me off the tent as a whole. I replied to his late evening rant in a slightly calmer manner than what I as his customer received but heard nothing thereafter.

Tent now installed I have sadly noticed that the advertised "28mm Oversized Aluminium Poles throughout, for extra strength" for his "most luxurious of tent models" are actually the 17mm poles from his cheapest entry level tent. Also, the fabric is so tight in some areas that closing windows puts such obvious strain on the stitching, especially around the side windows behind the poles, that I’ve opted to leave them always partially open. Our last exchange made it very clear that my highlighting such issues was already unwelcome, so unfortunately this is the only means by which I feel it’s possible to draw people’s attention to it. If buying tents from Tuff Trek, please be extra careful to double check that any ‘new’ or ‘upgraded’ features will in fact materialise before handing over your hard earned cash in good faith. My experience is that as attractive as these things are in reeling you in from the competition, what is received can be somewhat different. Lesson learned. I’ll be sure to see these things in the flesh rather than taking a company by its online word in the future. Still, I’m sure such online descriptions can be swiftly changed so as to hide the whole issue....

The tent (TUFF-TREK® TT-03 1.4m SKYTOP) though not to the specification advertised, will be kept as it is still fairly good value compared to competing brands and is an externally more attractive design. I really hope that the thin poles will stand up to the elements though they do have noticeable side wobble and are in no way ‘oversized for strength’. I certainly have no wish to deal with Dara regards a warranty claim in the future! Initial impressions can be deceiving and true personalities will always show through in times of stress. Lessons learned but still a great shame.

Dara at Tuff-Trek has been fantastic at answering all of our questions as we change our overland setup from ground tent to roof top tent. His replies are always prompt even with the question that stems from an answer to another question - I ask a lot of questions!
Looking forward to receiving our new tent and awning setup and getting it on our overland rig.

I had an issue with one of the items I purchased from Tuff-trek. The customer service I received in resolving the matter was excellent. Emails were responded to really promptly (even on a Sunday!) & one of their team called me to discuss the problem & was tremendously helpful & knowledgable. They sent a replacement & arranged for the original item to be collected. I strongly recommend Tuff-Trek, really excellent service.

I cannot praise the team at Tuff-Trek enough. From the initial phonecall, Dara has been nothing but helpful. The team have a wealth of knowledge and all work is carried out to a high standard. Nothing was ever too much trouble and you can tell the team have a passion for what they do. My canopy (RSI EVOa) looks awsome and looking forward to adding further products.

We were in the market for canopys to keep our gear dry and secure. We'd had issues with fibreglass canopys in the past and were looking for metal alternatives. We came across Tuff-Trek and rang Dara up for a chat. He talked us through our options and the pros and cons of each. We settled on the EvoC Commercial with Evo smartdrawer. The guys at Tuff-Trek kept us updated and contacted us when it was time to get the systems fitted. Fitting was carried out quickly and efficiently. We highly recommend these guys, and we'll no doubt be in touch with them when we need any more gear.

Great customer service and a good quality product, built to last. There are so many poor quality tents on the market and these are definitely not in that category. Well made by people who actually use their own products.

Ordered the Icarus Pop roof from Tuff-Trek, Which developed some issues, Tuff-Trek have offered a number of solution to resolve the issue, and i would like to compliment Tuff-trek on their excellent customer service in resolving the issue.

I was a massive pain in the rear from start to finish with my purchase, but Dara couldn't do more help, really happy with the tent and the service, highly recommend them

My partner surprised me with a Tuff Trek TT 02 roof tent, in June 2018.

We'd always been huge fans of the outdoors and really wanted to have a serious go at wild camping. We'd had a few attempts but wanted something a bit more substantial.

Since then, we've had so many awesome adventures! We usually get away at least once a month and have been as far as the Isle of Skye.

The tent takes about ten minutes MAX to set up and this can easily be done by one person... mainly because the other person is usually busy taking photos! 🤦🏼😂🤷

Everywhere we go, people always stop to ask if they can have a peep inside...it's so cool! 😍

The annexe was such a good purchase and has been well used by our youngest daughter and two grandchildren.

There's enough space down there for them all to sleep comfortably and we even have the dog sleep with them too, for additional safety!

The overall quality of the tent is outstanding! We've camped in some pretty isolated places, even with the kids sleeping in the annexe, when the weather has been absolutely horrendous! 🤦🏼

Trust me...this tent is outstanding in bad weather! 💪

We've recently bought an awning and some strip lights, to give us some additional outside space.

We tried using our own awning so many times but every time it rained, we had problems with huge sags of rainwater! 🤦🏼

Happy to say that we've now tested out our new Tuff Trek awning and it's absolutely fabulous! It was raining today and we were sat underneath it for a good few hours. Absolutely NO issues with rainwater gathering whatsoever! 🤩

We're getting really excited about the beginning of the end of lockdown. We've made a sound purchase in the awning and feel good to go! 🙌

If you have any doubts whatsoever about purchasing from Tuff Trek, trust me...one life, live it! 👌

I ordered a Quick Pitch En Suite from Tuff Trek after checking with Dara King via Facebook that this was possible. Dara replied very promptly and offered me guidance on ordering the item online.
Despite ordering over a bank holiday the item arrived in only 2 days which was great.

Great tent, dispatched and delivered safe and quickly. (During covid19 lockdown) I called for installation advice after normal office hours and Dara was fantastic help, a second to none service. 100% recommend

Had made plans for 2 years during a vehicle rebuild for overland expedition / camping trips. The first trip was to travel to Nordkapp in the Arctic Circle and the Baltics. The trip was flexible but plans allowed for up to 3 months travel. The roof top tent was key amongst the items researched, both soft top and hard shell tents. A number of friends who also had roof top tents from a variety of companies gave feedback and context and I finally settled upon a Tuff Trek TT02 with the annex.
I found the website gave me ample information regarding construction, materials and importantly weight. During the rebuild and construction of my vehicle plans for living space, cooking space and positioning of the tent were made.

The tent was ordered and arrived as informed by Tuff Trek via correspondence. The packing was considerable and there was no damage on its arrival. Instructions from the company to check everything before signing for the delivery were made and I fitted the tent with a friend who works on a fleet of overland vehicles based in the Scottish Borders.
He was impressed by the build quality and the thought which had gone into the design. The fittings were first class and even came with tools to complete the erection. The poly-cotton material was substantial, the ladder and its extension (Needed for a Defender 110) were well made and the annex, its carrier and the other items for the windows, the rods were of a good quality. I also ordered the storm cover. This subsequently proved essential on a number of occasions in the Arctic and was a good investment. The zips, fly nets, grab straps for ascending/descending were a great touch as well as the elasticated internal ties to draw the tent inwards on collapsing it.
Overall it appeared really well designed and comprehensively thought through.
We did a trial overnight trip to a campsite in Peebles, Scottish Borders and erected the annex as well. The living space provided is large and has a number of permutations for a zipped in floor to be attached or not depending on the requirements.
The 1.4 m tent was actually incredibly spacious. I had visited the workshop referred to above were my friend worked and checked out the numerous alternatives. It gave me an insight of a 1.2 m sleeping area and the 1.4m proved a huge improvement and a good decision on purchase.
The overnight trial was a great success. However, it was only when we commenced our expedition (August/September 2019) that we truly began to live with the tent. Its very comfortable and the mattress provided surpassed our expectations. Nothing broke, tore, detached in anyway throughout the trip and I can thoroughly recommend the TT02 soft top tent.
I recently contacted Tuff Trek regarding a minor adjustment I thought might need done (Having the time to do so in the current pandemic) Tuff Trek were super and were happy to advise and go over in detail the requirements. Can’t fault the service in any way. Excellent service and support and I would strongly recommend this company and product. Well done Tuff Trek.
