Withholding Refund
Website issue took me round in circles, never confirming payment had been taken and I ended up with the same three bookings meaning i overpaid by £90. After a week of trying to contact them by phone (never answered), no reply on email I chased again and have been told my 'request is denied' with zero explanation as to why. In absolute shock that a family attraction would treat its customers in this way and now withholding a £90 refund.
What an amazing day we had
What an amazing day we had. We arrived just as the zoo opened and didn't get home till 6pm.so much to do and see. The wet and wild area was loved by the kids and so many animals too see. Yes there were a few empty enclosures but there were so many other animals to see it didn't really matter. The kids absolutely loved going here and will definitely be going back in the future. We took a picnic and sat at the picnic area by the wet and wild area. We finished the day in the soft play area which the kids also loved. My highlight was the butterfly enclosure. So many beautiful butterflies to look out for. All in all this was an amazing day out for both adults and children and I would highly recommend a visit. Welll done Twycross!!

2nd time visiting this Zoo and it was ridiculous. Not worth the price of the tickets and organisation of the website when you buying tickets it's terrible. So it's definitely a NO from me.

After trying to book tickets online for over an hour tonight we have given up and decided not to bother.
I can’t believe the website for Twycross zoo is so inadequate and clunky.
Kicked us out several times once we had inputted all our info & photos. Terrible website and needs looking

Twycross Zoo - small on animals, big on charging
We bought annual passes for Twycross Zoo, so we could take our grandkids for days out. We were upset by the zoo’s policy of charging extra for food for the parakeets, and dismayed by the scandalous charge of £6 per child for an hour in soft play. It is expensive enough to give children a day out, with drinks, ice creams - without coming up against unexpected charges like these. There should be an admission price which covers all aspects of the visit, and this levying of extra charges just leaves a bad taste. The zoo was, frankly, a disappointment, with many enclosure’s apparently devoid of animal occupants, so it would be difficult for the zoo to argue that the extra charging was to the benefit of the animals. The overall impression is that it is no longer about the animals, but rather, it is a commercial profit-making establishment, bent on extracting as much money as possible from its visitors.
Crap crap crap…no animals..well a…
Crap crap crap…no animals..well a couple of depressed ones in rubbish habitats with no water..crap expensive food..just a rubbish stressful day ..couldn’t wait to get home..they let way too many people in..it was ridiculous to be honest..I don’t want your years free tickets we will NEVER be back..would quite like a refund for the ten people in our group..what did we pay for..a zoo trip with no animals in it..jokers!!!🤬🤬🤬..so apparently Twycross have “zoo keeper day” that you can pay a handsome sum of money for and get a “one2one” with a zoo animal..so here’s why nobody sees any animals..they must be stuck inside for their private viewing!!..how cruel is that eh!!..oh gosh the whole place needs investigating I feel..there’s a massive crack in the viewing glass that holds all the water in for the little penguins..I dread to think what could happen if it went ..wow what a money grabbing hole those poor animals live in.
Absolutely gutted at the lack of…
Absolutely gutted at the lack of animals in twycross zoo. Lots of monkeys but also lots of empty enclosures. Walked round the whole place in just over an hour. Ok if you have small children there are lots of park areas and playgrounds. Went because they were offering a twelve month ticket when you bought a day ticket but there’s no way we will be back it’s just not worth the journey. All in all very disappointing
Disappointing visit
Most enclosures are too small for animals or dont have much enrichment in there for them, it felt cruel at times. Barely any animals to see either. Some staff were lovely. Guy on the goat trail needs to revisit his customer service skills though. Need better pathways etc as it was very slippy in the rain. All in all a disappointing day, will go to Chester zoo next time as the animals seem much happier there.
More animals at my local park
Terrible zoo I have no idea how this place is still going. I always remember Twycross being a great zoo when I was young, today it’s empty, hardly any animals. Everything is over priced. Pay for a day and go for a year, to see what exactly? Toilets in the main building were disgusting they hadn’t been cleaned at that was at 9:30am! Take your own picnic and drinks!!
A fun day out
A great day out and extremely over hated,I loved the animals and so did my niece- didn't see too many empty enclosures despite the reviews here. The staff were amazing especially over in the the gift shop and by the penguins. Would recommend if not slightly busy on weekends but I guess that is to be expected
Shocking Customer Service- Non Existence
I tried to book online on Saturday 24th June at about 13.15 for a family visit for the next day on Sunday 25th. after submitting my payment of £100 the confirmation came back saying that the booking was for the same day. I rang the customer service line six times choosing option 6 to speak to someone for help. After about 5 rings I was asked to leave a message. I left my name and phone number asking for a call back and the reason why. I rang one more time Sunday morning leaving my number yet again. It is now Four days since my initial call and no one has called me back. I had no choice but to spend another £100 on 5 adults and, although free of charge, my granddaughter of 18 months who the visit was really for. Shocking customer service. No wonder there are so many bad reviews. Stick with Dudley or Chester Zoo whose customer service actually get back to you if you need them.
Racist staff
Got to see some animals, was extermely overcrowded! The queue went all the way to the back of the parking! Staff seemed quite rude, a tad on the indirectly racist side might I add. A couple infront were greeted with a huge smile, were asked if they wanted a stamp to re-enter if need be etc. One was a carer and insisted to show proof and the man said 'no need, enjoy your day guys'. My turn next, I had a disabled child, i wasn't offered the stamp, no smile, asked to show dla letter as 'it's a standard requirement.' Apparently rules apply to people of brown coloured skin only! Disgusting!
Unbelievably bad
Absolutely appalling don't waste your money here. I would say about 70% of the enclosures are empty and the ones that aren't are seriously cruel and depressing to see. The whole "zoo" is rundown and filthy Barely any staff taking care of the 5 animals they have left. The animals themselves look malnourished and depressed expecially the zebras which I felt absolutely awful for. Animal rights authority's need to investigate twycross the conditions these animals are left in is seriously wrong me and my family left feeling really bad about the whole situation no animals should suffer like that. Twycross somehow have the audacity to charge £20 each for adults! So you can see a grand total of one meercat a suicidal zebra and some pigeons in the parking lot. You'd think that this would put people off but nooooo the place was absolutely heaving with people! Heaving to the point you couldn't even move around the terribly designed pathways to see your empty cages the few animals that were there you couldn't see anyway because the viewing windows were constantly packed. Overall twycross just needs shutting down it is without a doubt the worst zoo in the country owned by clearly heartless money-grubbing people that invest nothing into the wellbeing of there animals the worst part is this zoo used to be amazing lots of well cared for animals a great variety of animals great facilities that's just not the case anymore it's a real shame
Not worth the trip
Not Worth Travelling the Hour we did.
Visited the Zoo but not a lot to see, a lot of the animals wasn’t present at all. Too many school kids on trips, we must of passed about 20 different schools on a trip to the zoo.
Definitely not worth the money you pay to visit.
Otherwise, staff are all friendly.
Would not visit Twycross Zoo again
Amazing day!
Hi Twycross Zoo, can I just say how amazing of a zoo you are! We visited on Sunday 28th May and did the Meerkat Encounter for 2 adults and 2 children. It was all a surprise for the children and your staff kept it to themselves about what was happening until the very last second! They both was amazing and thank you ever so much for that! The Meerkat keeper was so lovely! Can't praise her anymore for what she did on the visit! Made sure children was okay and happy. Very patient with our questions and answered everyone of them! So thank you for making it such an amazing day for all of us! And the gift we received at the end of the day just topped it off that you truly care not just about the animals but about us visitors too! We'll definitely be back soon! We're keeping eye out for the Penguin Encounter next! Thank you ❤️
Not worth visiting at all.
Really wanted to enjoy this experience@ TZ ..was looking forward to visiting with fam but I was so disappointed my son couldn't wait to leave 5 mins after we got in....no animals out really.nothing to see just everyone trying to catch a glimpse of something worth seeing...only seen the tigers tail passing the viewing window??? ...so annoyed because no tigers or apes out...the grounds were unkempt.. the bbq and ice creams way too overpriced..extortionate prices for burgers etc ...however on the plus side the penguins were adorable and the weather was nice ..I will never visit this zoo again it was quite depressing...and the water near the flamingos was awfully dirty and depressing to see . On the plus side the guy at the entrance gate was professional polite and helpful. Also other staff I interacted with were helpful etc. If you want a zoo experience with a range of animals that you wouldn't see in your local nature center then please don't visit
Twycross zoo ...complete waste of money and time ..I personally will never visit here again.
Not happy with our experience
Not happy with our experience. Luckily we took lunch because there was no where to get any food or drink.
The only place which was open was the fish and chip place. On a sunny day you expect ice cream and drinks everywhere but nothing to be seen.
We spoke to the lady at customer services and she was not helpful.
As many people have said a disappointment, and I totally agree.
£75 for a very disappointing day
£75 for a very disappointing day, except for staff on the gate, the rest were miserable. Gruffalo event didn't take place, children were crying and didnt understand why. Hardly anything worked on the gruffalo trail. Most enclosures were empty, we saw one very unhappy looking tiger in an enclosure which clearly needed something doing to it! One rhino, one snow leopard. Even monkeys were few and far between. Everywhere looked dirty and unkempt. I felt sorry for the animals we did see, awful. Twycross used to be a good zoo, what happened.
I just wanted to come on here and…
I just wanted to come on here and praise a member of the Twycross team, I had a disappointing experience from a staff member in Costa before I had even entered the zoo check in desk so was annoyed but that was soon forgotten about after I met a lovely helpful lady called Bernie. So lovely, smiley and chatty and I always think people are quick to be negative and moan but this member of staff should be praised and Twycross are super lucky to have Bernie as a member of there team, what a credit to the attraction. We shall look forward to returning :)
