Even worse is the customer service—slow responses, unhelpful replies, and no real effort to fix issues. This brand no longer stands behind its products. Definitely not worth the money.

I WONT buy O’Neill wetsuits anymore.

My experience has shown that the problem is not only the product material itself, but also the level of after-sales support — which is far below what you would expect from a premium brand.

My O’Neill Hyperfreak 5/4 Fire developed premature thinning in the elbow area. I contacted every possible channel: the Swiss shop, the Swiss distributor, and finally O’Neill’s main support center. After numerous emails, the only thing they provided was a tiny 18×10 cm fabric sample — the same piece that comes attached to the wetsuit tag. Even worse: the sample was not even the same material used in the Hyperfreak Fire (red interior), making it useless for a proper repair.

I specifically asked whether they could provide or sell me the correct matching material so that my local professional wetsuit repair center could fix the wetsuit properly. Shockingly, no one — not the Swiss distributor, not O’Neill support, not even the Portuguese repair center — was able to supply the actual material. The Portuguese center only offered a paid repair for €150, including shipping, but still could not send the correct fabric if I wanted to repair it locally.

So the issue is twofold:

1. Material quality: the wetsuit developed premature wear.

2. After-sales support: O’Neill was unable to provide even the basic assistance required to fix it.

After speaking with multiple surf shops, I learned that another major wetsuit brand repairs similar issues in their European facility using original materials, even outside warranty, and free of charge. Had I known this earlier, I would never have purchased two O’Neill wetsuits.

In the end, I am left with a premium-priced wetsuit that cannot be professionally repaired because O’Neill refuses to supply the necessary material — and offers almost no real after-sales support.

For me, this experience marks a definite farewell: goodbye O’Neill. I hope this review helps future customers make a more informed decision.

My shirt looks like a Swiss cheese

I bought a longsleeved t-shirt three years ago, which I have used sparsely and washed according to instructions.
Like a year ago I started noticing that it had tiny wholes here and there, and now it looks like a Swiss cheese full of wholes. It’s crazy how poor quality clothes they have given the prices. Completely unsustainable and so shameful to sell shit-quality garments to customers while claiming to work for a better environment and make a ”positive impact”. I’m so sick of these Greenwashing companies. I’ll never buy anything from O’Neill again.

Poorly Made

I purchased a pair of men's shorts in March '25. Paid more than I would usually pay but thought the quality was worth it.
Now it's July and the plastic button at the waist band has broken. Called customer service (waste of time) to find out that there is only a three month warranty on O'Neill products.
"Sorry but there is nothing we can do."
Well , there is something I can do.
NOT be a future customer.
The button is not your average button, so no comments about just sewing on a new one please...

Serious problems

It has taken me 2.5 months to get a refund for clothes that I returned in August. Some of issues encountered:
- In UK orders take 10+ days to dispatch and ship.
- Evri, who are notoriously unreliable in UK, appear to not send out return confirmation emails. This happened on 2 returned orders.
- Returns and refunds are not processed until 30 days after they are sent back, but because EVRI appear not sent out tracking information, O'neill cannot find returned orders on their internal systems
- I had to chase customer service multiple times and was told conflicting information about the progress of my return- that the return was on their system and then not on their system.
- Ultimately I had to sign a declaration that I had returned the item because O'neill had no way of verifying the return.

This points to relatively serious issues behind closed doors. The responsible thing to do would be to stop taking orders, if you cannot process returns in an efficient and fair way.

Chances are O'neill are sat on a large sum of customers money for returned items they cannot verify and in this instance I would warn anyone considering purchasing off them, at least in UK, to not do so.

Fast shipping, very nice clothes

I had read very negative reviews here about this brand and at first I didn't dare to buy anything from them online. I finally made a purchase and I am very satisfied. They shipped the items in 3 days, and in less than a week they had arrived home. The clothes are very nice, very stylish, and good quality. As for sizes, the system (size guide) recommended an S for me, but I decided on an XS (my go-to size in any brand) and I made the right decision. Overall very satisfied.

Very helpful Rep, on a holiday!

I was looking for a pair of O'Neill shorts that I have and love, but needed a lighter color. During my online search a customer service rep named Miranda started texting me and was extremely helpful in assisting me to try tracking down the shorts, which apparently they don't make anymore. Surprised to see so many bad reviews as my experience with Miranda was excellent.

Long delays

Order eventually arrived but was way too small so sent straight back the refund policy is a joke 30 days
They d do respond to emails avoid this company unless you like hassle

Nice cloths. Will take time to arrive. Some orders show up quicker

I've been ordering their cloths for years and always liked them but lately they've been taking way too long to ship. Like WAY too long. Reading all the negative reviews makes sense. I could see this company being bad in ways but overall they've always responded to my emails quickly and come through. I've paid overnight shipping and indeed it makes no difference and thats B.S. so dont ever pay extra. I always use my reward points or order when sales are going on to combat the shipping and tax price and the price never goes up much. I like the cloths and styles they have and ill continue ordering from oneill but 3 stars cuz their shipping can take such a long time. Longer than stated on the website and this has been a problem.

Make Sure You Order 30 Days In Advance

I order this on 7/2, then I was told it was processed 7/5, then today is 7/10 was shipped, so now I don't even get it (estimated delivery 7/13)... when I need it for? Lol! Will be on my trip on 7/12. Horrible logistics and supply chain! Will not buy again!

Sent me the wrong items

Sent me the wrong items. Arrived after 3 weeks originally. Still waiting on my 'correct' order to ship out. Do not order from their website. It feels like a scam run by a diff country altogether. Total garbage. Who sends the wrong items? They must not be able to read or see what's on the order sheet in front of them. Worst fulfillment center in the world

Horrible!!!! Scam for sure. I bought a pair of board shorts. They said $59. First of all. They charged $9 for shipping. It should be $3!! And some other bs charge and total ended up being $87!!! Should have backed out then. They arrived after almost 2 weeks!!! Def didn’t pay $9 for shipping. Then I go to return and they only return $63!!!! They kept a “handling fee” of $8. Are you kidding me!!! Then they say four weeks AFTER THEY RECEIVE THE ITEM I will get my money back. F*** O’Neill!!! Never again. I’m from Santa Cruz and loved to support the brand being local. Once I moved I will never buy from website again!!! Customer service was absolute garbage!!! They just lost a lifelong customer. I will never again buy direct.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE & FRAUD

I ordered on 5/20/24 paid for overnight shipping $35 which stated arrives in 1-3 business days. I am going out of town and paid for overnight shipping, even with the 3 day business day buffer everything would be fine. Today is Thursday, 5/23/24, and my order has not even shipped or been "fulfilled" yet. They contacted me on Tuesday, 5/21/24, saying that I would need to sign for it. I said no problem, as I will be here and inquired about when it would be shipped. I have been going back and forth with them over email for multiple days now, and stating oh, it takes 1-3 business days to even leave our warehouse. I sent a screenshot of their overnight shipping showing their website does not state that, it shows "ARRIVES in 1-3 business days. with $35 overnight shipping. My package is still not here and I do not know when it will be shipped. I will have to sign for it, but will not even be here. Even with their processing times they state, it still has not shipped or been processed. This has completely ruined my vacation I am planning on as certain outfits are going to be for pictures at this specific place. Either way, I have paid for a service that was advertised and stated in print, and I have not received it. I have not had this issue with any other vendor. For O'Neill to be such a big company, and around for forever, the customer service and their practices are absolutely absurd. I will not be ordering from here ever again. I have now gotten an email from them stating it will not go out today either, and apparently the day that you order, even if before they even open does not count as a business day. This place is a joke.

Psycho Freak seam seal failure

I have bought O'Neill Psycho Freak wetsuits over many years. I used to get three or even four seasons. Now their seam sealing inside the suit is falling to bits at one year and terrible at two. Makes the suit scratchy and horrible to wear.

I am almost 50, you were my brend no1, but, almost 20 years I can not find a single artictle of yours that couth my eye. still looking burst of colours, wild but simple design... What happened?... Please check on your designs 20 years ago... And do it again!!! Please!!!! Truly in hope.

Make sure to https:// their website. The customer service is complete garbage. I received a message from the site saying too many inquires to check Shopify other customers welcome. Always "Out of Stock" and canceled an order that had already processed. Claimed to not offer any alternatives, but the items name had changed. I am going to inquire more and not purchase anymore from their website. I think it's a competitor's scam, literally!!
I just want to add I don't play basketball and think the Jordan brand is fake too. I hope they haven't associated my purchase with Shaquille because I don't do basketball at all.

“Out of stock”, no refund

0 stars if possible. I tried to but two matching bikini pieces, they charged me for shipping and only sent the bottom. The other piece was “out of stock”. When I asked them to refund me shipping to find another piece they agreed. They had no matching pieces so I bought a whole different bikini. They only sent me the top and said the bottom was “out of stock”. And when I gave my refund details to customer service, they never refunded me the shipping. This happened twice that I reached out for the agreed upon shipping refund with no response. Now I have two unmatched swim suit pieces. Plus the pieces were on sale so they won’t let me return them. Such a disappointing company and bad experience.
