I waited a whole year before writing this because I wanted to calm down first, but this course is just not it. It’s very disorganised. The lecturer in charge is not professional at all and can be very personal. You can’t even give feedback or any small criticism without the course leader becoming even more vindictive.

They tell you 22 hours contact time, but in reality you’ll get like 7 or 9 hours if you’re lucky. The content doesn’t match the assignments at all, so if you don’t already know people in the industry, you are on your own.

Me, I failed three times — almost all her assignments — and still no proper support. You ask for help, nothing. Most students don’t even come to class, so you can’t even ask classmates for help. You’re just there struggling alone.

Another thing, they mix everybody together — project management, architecture, building surveying, quantity surveying — all in one class. So at the end of the day, you don’t really learn anything properly. You don’t even get half of what other universities teach in one proper specialised course. It just feels like a combined course with no direction.

When I complained, instead of them fixing the issue, I was the one being questioned, like I’m the problem. I was even told I was embarrassing the lecturer, which is not fair.

Then when you ask outside the university about the course, people will tell you it’s not even accredited, but the university is saying something else. That one is very worrying.

There is nothing modern about this course. Some lecturers can’t even open their slides, some don’t show up, and some will even tell you not to attend.

Honestly, this whole experience has affected my confidence and my career plans I cant pass any interview as I don't know enough.

Please, save yourself the stress and go to a different university

First sign that this was a bad uni should have been the very poor admin before starting - but I had been waiting a long time to start.

The lecturers wasted 1/2 of the meagre contact/in class time on what should be office hours work that should be arranged over email/online meeting. Far too many assignments and far too little teaching. The whole focus is on getting the grades but without teaching enough, so you basically teach yourself through YouTube and Chat GPT. Many other students felt the same but wouldn’t speak up.

The finance team will also harass you for money you don’t owe despite you not getting any value for the money already paid!

Emails will get no response, until they want something and then you must give them what they demand within 1 day or be threatened! Just avoid. A waste of time!

AVOID!
Really poor management, 80% of the students in the class not speaking english, spending lessons on their phone / talking to one another, teachers did NOT care. Don't waste your money here.

Based on my personal experience, I would strongly advise against studying at University of West London if you are looking for a genuine academic environment.

The university operates in what I would describe as ghost-student culture: minimal real engagement, weak teaching, and students progressing despite little visible participation or learning. This serious undermines confidence in the value of the degree.

When I raised concerns about teaching quality and academic practice, I experienced staff and certain students ganging up on me, rather than engaging professionally with the issues raised.

Following this, I encountered behaviour that I consider to be stalking - including being persistently monitored. This created an intimidating and unsafe academic environment.

Overall, in my view, the institution prioritises maintaining appearances and student numbers over education, fairness and student welfare. Those looking for meaningful education within a fair and professionally managed academic environment may wish to consider other universities.

The university is really really really bad. Was stalked, bullied and harrassed here. The bully was supported while I was forced to defer. I was given incorrect information I was told to come back earlier then I was meant too. Teachers bullied me, spoke to me indirectly during class and did not care about the health and safety of students in practice. I was bullied, harrassed in practice by the same girl in the NHS and they did nothing. She then lied and claimed I was mad even though she did it in front of the teachers yet they supported her. Horrible Horrible University that does not support nursing and midwifery students and basically reads off slides and then go home. They then kicked me out because that girl was one of their favourites. Waste of money and time and stole extra sfe. Lied and stated I was attending when I was not, I was deferred. Place is disgusting, go elsewhere

I am extremely disappointed and angered by the appalling service I have experienced at the University of West London (UWL). The level of professionalism is shockingly poor, and the staff’s behaviour has been completely unacceptable. I have faced discriminatory and racist attitudes that made me feel disrespected, unwelcome, and deeply upset. As a student from the OBC community, I expected fairness, equality, and respect — but what I received was the exact opposite. UWL should be ashamed of how it treats people from minority backgrounds. This institution urgently needs to take responsibility, investigate these issues, and make serious changes.

I recently visited West London University for a functional skills reassessment, and I was blown away by the exceptional team! Francis, the lead of functional skills, and the entire team were absolutely amazing. Tom, in particular, stood out for his kindness and support. As someone who was returning to studies after a long break, I was nervous, but the team's encouragement and guidance made all the difference.
The way they supported us was truly incredible, and I'm so grateful for their dedication. I've given them 5 stars, but honestly, I'd give them more if I could! Kudos to West London University for having such a brilliant team. Thank you for making my experience so positive!

Do not go to this university. The management do not seem to care very much about creating an appropriate and adequate learning and social experience for university students. UWL felt more like a high school than a proper university even before COVID-19. Buildings were often hideous, inadequate, and poorly built (almost dangerously) and very spaced out around London, meaning that you cannot really develop a proper social life or really enjoy campus very much. There is not really much of a student social life at UWL at all either way. Very few societies exist in the SU and the student body by and large is often much older, very apathetic and do not take their studies very seriously. In many of the lectures, students would frequently not show up or simply be on their phone the whole time. I found the societies/student groups and classes to be very cliquey as well. As for the courses, some lecturers were fantastic and deeply passionate while others were very uninterested and the way how they taught subjects was done in a very boring manner. If you take your studies seriously and want to create lifelong university experiences and memories, then this place is not for you. Avoid this university at all costs.

My son was attending this college and was told by a teacher if he "consents to be withdrawn from the school" which my son that accepted feeling under pressure and having being discouraged by the school multiple times even when he ultimately wanted to stay and complete his course.

I am appalled by the teachers behaviour and do not recommend anyone to join this college. The money the government gives to the school would be better spent given to the NHS or an other education centre which cares about it's students.

Very bad experience at this Uni with an Adult Nursing course. Most classes were online when teachers just read from PPT slides...bad facilities at Paragon...lack of communication from lecturers...cancelled classes...inconsistencies in grades...poor quality placements and no opportunities to choose between placements...miscalculated hours for my last placement caused me to be 42h short of placements that led me to receive a BA in Healthcare with a PASS instead of Degree in Nursing...even though I passed all the modules and got good grades and passed ePAD which stated that they recommend me to register with NMC, however I got a reply from Uni that I didn't have NMC required 2300 placement hours...I completed 2258...was 42h short and they told me I will be awarded exit degree only and cannot register with NMC...waist of my time and government's money as well...as my student debt is now almost 95000£ after maintenence and tuition fees for this course plus previous course...unfortunately, without NMC registration will not be able to work as a nurse, nevertheless will never be able to pay this money back...the whole education and loans system is absolutely wrong and broken in this country...in the times of shortage of UK trained nurses and government spending cuts this looks like an absolute joke.

As a current UWL student, I am thoroughly disappointed with my experience at this university. Unfortunately, it is the only university offering the specific course I am interested in, but if you have other options, I strongly encourage you to consider them.

Compared to my previous experience at another London university, UWL falls significantly short. The staff often come across as unprofessional, and the quality of teaching is not up to the standard one would expect from a higher education institution. There is a noticeable lack of consistency in the grading system, with tutors frequently disregarding the assignment briefs and rubrics, marking students down for reasons unrelated to the actual assignment. Even if you follow the instructions to the letter, you might lose marks for arbitrary reasons, such as not expanding on topics that were never even mentioned in the assignment brief, or your paragraph being too short.

This is not just my experience—many other students share the same frustrations. Achieving a first-class degree at UWL feels more like a gamble than the result of hard work and dedication. One of the core issues seems to be that many academic tutors lack signigicant academic credentials and have not published noteworthy research, raising questions about the validity of their grading. It's as if they're taking out their frustrations on students who actually have a shot at succeeding academically, while rewarding mediocre work that barely meets the standard.

In short, UWL is a poor excuse for a university, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who has the option to study elsewhere.

I worked as a temp within the Placement and Employment Services Team (October 2022).
From the initial interview I sensed the Manager of the team was not sure of herself and gave out mixed messages. I was offered the role and gave her the benefit of the doubt. It turned out she was extremely incompetent, so much so I had to organise my own ID card, IT account and access due to the mess she had created (she had managed to produce 3 ID cards for me one of which was a student card and a IT account and access with chronic issues). I had temped for this University twice before in the past and had never encountered a Manager to be this incompetent with the basics. She kept saying that she was "new" to justify her inability to conduct basic functions and lack of common sense. She had been in her role for months and would have had experience of organising staff access. She heavily relied on another Manager who had been there for some time but he had extremely poor social skills making communication very difficult. Although he witnessed the access issues he did not make any effort to help or advise. It turned out she had recruited too many temps with not enough desks, I had to hot desk and eventually there were no more desks for me to hot desk at. She wasted valuable meeting time chatting about herself in terms of her previous roles, etc, I had to constantly steer our meetings onto business. She was not focused on the job at all. On one occasion she had left early to attend to her daughter because the daughter had a migraine, I later learned that her daughter was 21 years of age and that she often left early for lame reasons citing "children reasons". Coincidentally, the office Manager would do the same and the Placement Officer for the Airline roles would often disappear early. There were other Placement Officers who were clearly underworked and often absent. I had to sit next to one who constantly ate crisps all day and not doing much else. The Manager had not arranged for an existing temp (who was leaving) to do a handover and this temp was not managed, in fact she was a problem person to say the least, not fit for any work despite claiming she was a solicitor from Australia. She displayed a very loud, bad and alpha attitude in the office (racist remarks about students in the presence of white people only, intimidating behaviours, boasting about being "legal" and "very tough", etc). The careers team were nice enough except for a Chinese member of staff who would not apologise for not connecting phone calls properly and refusing to say hello to temps. I was very glad this experience was short lived but shocked at the incompetency of this particular Manager and the state of her team. It transpired she had lied about the nature of the contract, it was offered to me as a temporary contract, I was to take over the role of the existing temp, but in fact it was a casual role. This was yet another failure on her part. Another temp had told me in confidence that she did not think the team were professional at all. Best solution would be to replace the whole team including the long serving ones. I am aware this university is extremely chaotic which explains things pertaining to this particular team.

One of the worst choices for international students. Its a racist university that will segregate you (asian (Indian, Pakistani, Bengali students) from all other nationalities. It will only give you evening classes so all asians stay on one side of the schedule. No flexibility in terms of schedule change or student help. Extremely basic modules that dont teach you real tools but just Googled definitions. Do yourself a favor and donot come to this uni for Business Analytics or Digital Marketing. Only a couple of instructors are actually good. Some of them cant even speak proper english and are somehow ‘teachers/instructors’ in this worthless place. The campuses are small, dull, and boring. The portal is outdated. All they’ve managed to teach me in 6 months is BASIC python that I could’ve learned from DataCamp in 20 days. Module leaders are not helpful at all because they came up with excuses rather than genuine solutions when student recommendations were given to them. UWL does not care about ratings as long as International students are paying thousands of pounds to ‘study’ here. Pathetic university.

Spoke with admissions and needed a couple of questions answered, one of which was simple and clearly within their remit. They couldn't answer either, but put me through to the student advice team, who I was told could help. Placed on hold and cut off after five minutes. I called back and was put on hold again, but was cut off a second time. Then called back for the third and final time, and was cut off after a few minutes yet again.

I would never have started my course if I knew how corrupt the management is. There are an overall unwillingness to reply students and lack of organisation. Do yourself a favour and avoid this university.

My ex studied there. Not a Russell group uni.

No need to study, everyone gets first class. It's just a business, not a top uni.
