I’ve been here three times and I’ve never been disappointed. I come here for brunch and just go for the mini Tiffin. Service can be improved but the food is excellent. It is great value for money. I’m rather surprised to read the negative reviews – but for such low prices, there’s not much to complain about!

Visited Vasantha Vilas for their all day Onam Sadhya, prebooked for myself and my daughter. To start with the positives, the food itself was tasty. Every dish we got to try was flavorful but served meagrely. Unfortunately, the overall experience was let down by portion sizes and service. Most items were served in very small quantities, including the buttermilk and jeera water, which were both under a quarter of the cup. Sadhya is traditionally meant to be a generous feast with refills offered throughout, but that did not happen here. When we asked about the small portions, we were told more customers were expected, even though the restaurant had already accepted both prebookings and walk ins and should have planned accordingly. Dessert was just a teaspoon of ada pradhaman and a tablespoon of payasam, which felt quite sad and stingy for a paid, prebooked meal. What made it worse was the manager’s attitude. He came across as impatient and rude, essentially rushing us to finish and leave. Given the quality of the food, this could have been a wonderful Onam Sadhya experience, but the portion sizes and poor service management held it back significantly.

We asked for a recommendation and were told to get the Paneer Tikka Masala—a dish I order often, so I know what to expect. What we were actually served looked and tasted exactly like a Kadai Paneer. When we questioned this, multiple staff members completely missed the point and just kept talking about the size of the paneer chunks. Even one of their own waitresses agreed with us and admitted it looked like Kadai Paneer. To make matters worse, two out of the three Dosas we ordered arrived freezing cold, including the masala served on the side. For dessert, the Kulfis were ruined by heavy freezer burn, covered in frost, and rock-solid, tasting like they had been sitting in the freezer for months.

The customer service was absolutely disgusting. After the food issues, I asked to speak to a manager. A female manager came over, heard everything that went wrong, went to discuss it with two other staff members, and then simply walked off. Instead of handling it, she sent our regular waitress back to face us. There was zero accountability or leadership.

When going to pay at the front desk, I reminded them that the manager had abandoned our table. Suddenly, the hierarchy changed: our waitress was now claimed to be a "floor manager," and two other "managers" magically appeared. It was a chaotic blame game. I had to ask several times just to get a name from the man claiming to be the most senior manager, Sanjay. Instead of apologizing, Sanjay actually pulled up kitchen CCTV footage and accused us of lying about the food. If they had simply checked the dishes at our table when we first complained, they could have seen the evidence themselves. Suggesting we are liars is absolutely absurd and not how anyone should treat customers. This establishment has no idea how to how to treat paying customers. Save your money and avoid this place at all costs.

Horrible experience. Bad food bad management. The manager called Sanjay at Barkingside was most rude and obnoxious. Please don’t ever visit

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Vasantha Vilas in Slough, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish.

The food is truly exceptional — authentic South Indian flavours that instantly transport you back home. Every dish was freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and full of rich, traditional taste. The dosas were perfectly crisp, the chutneys were vibrant and flavourful, and the overall quality was outstanding.

The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a great place for both family meals and casual dining. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with recommendations, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

What really stands out is the consistency in quality and the genuine care they put into both the food and customer service. It’s clear that they take pride in what they do.

If you’re looking for authentic South Indian cuisine in Slough, I highly recommend Vasantha Vilas. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
