Vibe Typer is an AI dictation app for Linux, Windows, Mac and iPhone. Press a hotkey, speak, and clean, punctuated text is typed at your cursor in any app, terminals and code editors included. There is no window to copy from and no per-app setup. We are a small independent business based in Australia. Our founder, Futsy, started Vibe Typer because voice typing on Linux was poor: most tools skipped it, and the rest dumped an unpunctuated wall of text. The Linux and Windows apps launched together in July 2025, the Mac app followed in March 2026, and the iPhone keyboard in September 2026. On Linux, Vibe Typer runs natively on both Wayland and X11 as a single AppImage for Ubuntu 22.04 and newer. Magic Formatter turns how people really speak into the sentence they meant: it removes ums and false starts, fixes punctuation and handles corrections like "scratch that". You can give it custom instructions in plain English, its dictionary learns from your corrections, and you can rewrite or reply to text by voice. It works in 99 languages, and its smart paste is safe in terminals and AI coding tools like Claude Code. On iPhone it is a keyboard that sits alongside Apple's: tap the globe key and it opens already listening. Your audio is held in memory only as long as it takes to transcribe, then dropped. Recordings are never stored or sold, and nothing trains on your voice. The free plan includes 2,000 words and 20 AI operations a month, with every feature and no card needed. Pro is $8 a month billed annually, or $10 month to month, with no limits, and teams can buy Pro per seat on a single invoice. I was using Wispr Flow on Windows, but didn't have anything for Linux until I came across Vibe Typer. I really like it. Occasionally it polishes my input a little more than I like, but in general I find it very reliable. I am considering installing it on Windows too.

I´ve been using speech recognition for decades, including several AI powered ones. Reformatting my garbled English, excellent recognition in sub-optimal environments. Vibe Typer blows everyone else out of the water. Support is very responsive and next-level, I can't wait for the Android version!

I have been using it for a while - initially it was ok, but not great, but it has become almost 100% accurate as new versions came out. I recomend it.

I use this on my Linux machine and it's super helpful and accurate and makes the workflow much easier

It is the best voice dictating app on linux so far.
Very effective and precise translation of voice to text.
Keep doing a great job and adding more features.
The most important ones are voice commands that will allow more control over text formatting, ie. going to next line, entering bullet points, etc.
I am hoping to see Android version soon.

I have been following the improvements to this software for several months, and it has now reached a point where it is very solid. While it did have a few flaws initially—as is to be expected—thanks to the developer's persistence and tenacity, it is shaping up to be a great product.
The support person—who I believe is also the developer—is extremely helpful. If I open a ticket on Discord, they respond within a few hours; they are also very willing to provide free trial periods. The software is constantly being improved, and I think it’s a solid alternative to other software options.

I've used at least 4 other voice transcription programs but Vibe Typer is easily the best. Even though I mumble a bit, it uses context to transcribe the right words. It is near perfect in its transcription. I'm anxiously waiting for it to hit Android so I can replace Gemini and/or Wispr Flow.

VibeTyper was the best overall Speech-to-Text option for Linux when it first came out which is how I first landed on it. It had kinks to work out, but every issue I emailed to the developer was fixed within a week or so. Then, every "nice-to-have" wish list feature I requested was also promptly added. Other users have clearly been suggesting improvements and it's been great to see the many quality of life improvements added each week. One small business SaaS founder to another, leaving a killer TrustPilot review is the least I can do. I highly recommend checking it out!

Difficult to install, then said it costs, then difficult to remove. Complete waste of time and effort. If I could give negative numbers I would. Too many griffter websites/software on the web now, even for linux machines.

I tested several speech-to-text tools on Windows — Wispr Flow, Typeless — and none convinced me: bugs, unreliable voice button, too many useless features.
Vibe Typer is the opposite. Fewer features, but everything it does works perfectly:
✅ Voice button triggers every single time, no random failures
✅ F8 shortcut to recall the last voice input — really handy
✅ Automatic removal of repetitions and filler words for clean output
✅ Very responsive, opens every time without a hitch
No mobile version yet, but on Windows it's unbeatable. For me, it's clearly the best speech-to-text on the market right now. Highly recommend.
