Julia's Violin Academy is the place where aspiring violinists can learn in an atmosphere of support and serious study.

I took the Vibrato violin course, but I will admit that I didn't do well. It's because I didn't have the time. But the beauty of it is that you are always able to access the program and learn on your own time.

Julia puts so much thought and care into her lessons. I don't think there's anything better on the Internet. It's been a wonderful experience for me, despite not achieving my goals. I saw so many others who did. If you have any doubts, jump in. But just know that watching videos cannot replace actual practice, something I did not do.

I will come back again and again to take further classes with Julia's Violin Academy. For sure!!!

Recently completed a 6 weeks Vibrato Course with the Academy. The course is enjoyable and thorough enough for anyone interested in learning Vibrato. I would like to recommend a more advance follow-up Vibrato course for those who want to play the Vibrato competently.

I have always wanted to play the violin but haven’t wanted the pressure and expense of an in person teacher. So I decided to teach myself (about 3 years ago now) from mainly YouTube videos. I wish I had found Julia sooner!
I enrolled on the Unlock your Vibrato course after a year of trying to teach myself the vibrato..fairly unsuccessfully! Julia’s videos highlighted where I had been going wrong and meant I was able to make more progress in the 6 weeks than I had made in a year! I still have work to do but I am really happy with the progress I have made.
Julia and her team let you send a video for feedback and are kind and encouraging with their feedback. I will be signing up to the full academy after my positive experience (as soon as I have managed to save my pennies!)

The feedback process is really detailed and helpful to every, specially adult beginners like me.
Moreover, being able to watch other students feedback is crucial to learn not only from my mistake but also from others'.
Lastly, the teachers' methods are diversed, which is really good to be able to follow the instructions felxibally and to choose the easiest or the more suitable method for you.

What I love about Julia's Violin Academy:
* the extremely high quality and detail of the video explanations
* how incredibly friendly and encouraging the entire team is!
* the extremely high quality content: all the different levels, the practice plans, the sheet music...
* how we have access to all the content from the beginning yet there is a guided progression to guide us through the levels
* the play-along videos for songs and exercises, at different speeds
* the ability to send in FOUR videos for feedback every month, to which you receive detailed and immediately actionable feedback
* the weekly challenges for beginners and intermediate levels (allowing you to quickly practice different skills)

I really want to give a huge shout-out to the team, who are incredible people: from Julia who does the instructional videos, to Victoria who gives feedback on your videos, to Angelina who provides support and leads practice groups, to the others! I really haven't found anything like your Academy for any other topic.

There are also live classes and live practice groups, which I haven't had time to try because there is so much to focus on :) And there is an amazing Facebook community where people post fun as well as serious topics and help and encourage one another.

Also, there is sheet music in many different styles and tailored towards different levels - Julia arranges the pieces herself, so that even a beginner can play beautiful, well-known pieces.

If you are learning the violin, you should absolutely join! There are so many options that no matter your learning style, you will get so much out of it.

Julia is an amazing, supportive and encouraging instructor. Her smile and positive attitude are the BEST!

Recommendation: Julia's Violin Academy is one of a kind. At least I would like to hear from other adult violin schools that have this much materials and personal video feedback available. The customer service is friendly.

Constructive feedback: Timewise participating the live sessions is difficult. Also I would enjoy if the prices were completely localized for us in Europe, too. I was surprised with the VAT added to the price.

I put the violin down 44 years ago; when I decided to go back to it, I realized that muscle memory can only take you so far! I live in a rural area and my schedule doesn't really loan itself to lesson times that require a four hour round trip drive, so I looked at online options. I tried YouTube videos and online tutorials, but nothing clicked until I found Julia's Violin Academy. It's the perfect combination of "do-it-yourself" and "support system." The lesson plans and demonstrations are excellent, and the support is perfect in that you can access as much or as little as you need, when you need it. The online community is awesome; motivating, kind, and inspiring. I have nothing but praise for this excellent program; I can't believe how much I have improved in a short amount of time!

The course is extremely well organised and flexible. It allowed me to figure my own schedule, and gave me information that I felt was relevant, such as theory alongside the practical aspects of playing violin. Within a month I was already practicing a real piece of music. You have to put in the work of continuous practice, but it's lade easy by the lessons and the comraderie of the student group!

I have been in the academy since January, I decided it was a late Christmas gift to myself. I had been learning on my own for 9 months but was inspired by Julia's many You Tube videos, she really knows how to explain everything so well and slowly-like I needed! Since joining I am learning many new techniques as well as some classical pieces I never thought I could play. The feedback available is so helpful and there are many videos on the site to help, I'm so glad I joined and plan to be there awhile!

Julia is an enthusiastic teacher who is responsive to the needs of the individuals in her group. She is always positive and finds good things in every performance. I have improved considerably in the year I have been learning from her. The other members are also supportive of each other. Lots of good ideas and advice are shared.

I joined Julia's Violin Academy around 4 - 5 weeks ago, and have not regretted that choice for a moment. I should explain that I first bought a violin in 2019, took a few free online lessons, and managed to hack out a few tunes. I'm an adult learner on the wrong side of 50, wanting to fulfill one of those "wish I had done it" things that we all have.
I was aware of Julia's Academy, but I'm also one of those people who reluctant to commit to purchases online.
Then health issues and life got in the way.
5 weeks ago, I picked up my violin again, and then took the plunge into JVA.
From the first, I knew it was the right choice. The lessons are structured from basics upwards, in bite sizes with just the right amount of technical difficulty and challenge to keep you motivated to conquer them and progress. You are free to move forward (or backwards!) at your own desired pace.
Not only do you have the formal lesson from Julia herself for each step, in the dual format of instruction video and play along sheet music complete with backing tracks and metronome, but you also have on every single lesson the opportunity to watch other students at the same level, and learn from the feedback videos which the fantastic JVA teachers provide for every single video students submit. These are a valuable learning tool as well.

In addition to all of this, JVA is a vibrant, active community of adult learners. Every day of the week there are live zoom events where you can meet and practice at your own level with other community members. Then at least twice a week there are live zoom classes from the JVA teachers, tackling specific issues that the students have asked for more help.
All those instructional zoom classes are then recorded, so if you missed them, or join the academy later, you still have access to the instruction.

On top of ALL of that, there are fun, live zoom member and staff recitals, where you can have fun playing for each other - and cheering each other on.
The community itself is extremely positive and supportive of one another - no matter what your level when you join in.
JVA is not just another learn-something-online format - it is a TRUE music school in every sense. Julia and her staff are available for interactions, and immediately responsive to questions - and also to share our love for violin and music.

What is not to love about all of this? :)) It is incredible value for money, and pretty much guaranteed to get you up and playing your violin, learning and progressing in a way that is just not practical or really possible by trying to go it alone.

I call it an investment in yourself, your music, and your life!!

I began to play violin about a month ago. Before I found the Julia’s violin Academy and it’s outstanding motivating community, I found almost impossible to learn violin while enjoying it, and I thought even that I had not the capacity to learn violin. I thought it was not possible to learn online, that it was necessary to have a personal teacher to do it and it wasn’t within my reach. I was wrong and I am so happy to have join Julia’s violin inspiration. I am very satisfied. I am already able to play with a quality, of beginner of course, yet a quality that I wouldn’t believed to be possible by now, after only a few weeks !Thank you so much Julia, Victoria and the community, it is because of you that I am fond of practicing my violin with so much pleasure every day !

Julia's Violin Academy is a great way to learn new tips and tricks on the violin. Her emails give great facts, music, and other information.

I’m 68 this year and for some strange reason, I decided to take up the violin.
Because of lockdown, I couldn’t go to a teacher directly so I found Violinspiration on Google. I’m really enjoying the vide lessons with Julia and I’m surprised how much I’ve learned in just a few weeks. The lessons are well structured and there is so many areas in the academy that I’m still finding things to learn and explore. I’m really enjoying this way of learning and never feel like I’m on my own because there is lots of feedback as well. I can highly recommend this for anyone to try.

I have wanted to play the violin for years. I searched many sites, and finally settled on Julia’s Violin Academy. She provides not just music or tabs and a video on how to play the song, there is SO MUCH MORE. My favorite part is that you will be part of a community of students of varying levels who can, and often do, communicate with you and know what you are going through. This is a relatively hard instrument to play, at least for me, but to have people who know what you are going through when you practice a song early in your studies and feel like you will never get it, is absolutely invaluable. As a student, I can consult with an instructor, and they will give me tips about what I am doing both right and wrong when I submit a video of myself playing. There is definitely 2-way communication. All of the music on the site has accompaniment tracks that one may slow down or speed up at will. If you read notes, there are notes. If you are just learning music, well, guess what? They have music theory classes, several of them in fact, which are great. The process is orderly for people with absolutely no experience up to people who have developed some skills. Even the little things like how to draw the bow across strings comes with practice music. There are videos on how to select an instrument, and what you will need as a student. There are live practice sessions and break out sessions with other students. There are even recitals!! I am very satisfied at this point. I have seen more growth in my ability than any other videos I have seen on the internet or YouTube regarding “how to play the violin.” You should give this program a chance if you are serious about wanting to play. I am very glad I did, (though at this very early point in my violin training, I’m not entirely sure about my neighbors!) LOL. Just kidding, I’m getting better already!

So happy I found Julia’s Violin Academy,I was about to give up trying to learn the violin from home I had been watching many,many online video’s but not making any progress then I watched some of Julia’s on line tips which were very helpful.Then I subscribed to her free email tips and messages.In one of her messages she said stop looking at videos and start practicing which I did and joined her violin academy.Now I am making progress and have full confidence of advancing in my lessons.I am 62 years old and convinced it’s not to late to learn the violin I love learning the violin now.

The Academy was a great way for me to start my journey learning the violin as an adult. Julia posts wonderful, detailed video lessons that help you with technique, and there are great feedback videos submitted by other adult students (so you see people's questions and our teachers' answers). And it's a very welcoming community too.

This was a great choice for me it gives me a structured plan of action to become great as a beginner violinist! In the past I got bored and not knowing which way to go I just stopped practicing if JVA would have been there back then I would be nearer my goal to be a VIOLIN BOSS! The goal is still attainable though so I try hard to make up for lost time and now I have direction and expert guidance. I’m still very impatient but I’ve learned it is useless to rush through the lessons. So far this has been a great experience for me and I highly recommend JVA!
