AVOID WCG

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with WCG was so unprofessional that I feel obligated to warn others.

I hired WCG to handle my payroll filings and year-end tax services. Throughout the entire year, I was frustrated by the lack of communication and customer service. Every time I had a question, Ethan Summer’s response was to have me schedule a call—even for simple questions that could have been answered quickly by email. The problem was that his calendar was often booked out for weeks, leaving me unable to get timely answers about my own business. I constantly felt like I was chasing information instead of having a CPA who proactively kept me informed.

After dealing with this for a year, I reached out to Jason Watson, one of the partners, simply to discuss working with a different CPA within the firm. Rather than listening to my concerns or trying to understand why I was dissatisfied, I was met with resistance and a complete lack of empathy. At that point, I decided to terminate my relationship with WCG.

Unfortunately, the experience only became worse after I left. In the weeks that followed, Jason Watson made it extremely difficult for me to obtain my tax documents and the information I needed to transition to another CPA. It was an incredibly stressful experience and I felt uncomfortable knowing that someone who treated a former client this way still had access to my confidential financial information.

The most shocking part of my experience occurred during a phone call with Jason Watson, during which he repeatedly screamed at me and called me derogatory names. The call was being recorded by Jason without my knowledge, and afterward an email regarding the situation was sent to everyone in the firm, including me. I found this to be completely unprofessional and an unacceptable way to treat a former client. The only thing that this email showed was how tacky and unprofessional Jason Watson was and still is.

What was equally disappointing was the response—or lack thereof—from the firm’s leadership. Jenna Wing, Amanda Patten, Sarah Coker, Terra Plamp, and Tonya Duval were all aware of what occurred, yet I never received an apology or any acknowledgment that the situation had been handled inappropriately. The absence of accountability from leadership spoke VOLUMES about the firm’s culture. Since leaving their firm I am still cleaning up their mess. They had filed every single withholding under the wrong ID number, resulting in penalties and long phone calls with ADP and the IRS to correct this issue. WCG is a NIGHTMARE, and I just want to move on from.

I hired WCG expecting knowledgeable tax advice, responsive communication, and professionalism. Instead, I experienced poor communication, resistance when I expressed concerns, unnecessary obstacles when I decided to leave, and conduct that I never expected from a professional CPA firm.
