The sea-survivor course was composed by a theoretical lesson in the morning and practical exercises in the afternoon. Both in a very adequate enviroment and with a supernice and professional instructor. We might all have some ideas what to do, when things go sideways, but there is a lot to learn about how to deploy and flip a liferaft, swimming and getting into it with clothing and a lifevest on and that is just to exemplify. Believe me, much better to have this experience before you really need it...Thanks Westcoast for this useful and fun experience!

When I had to choose a school for the Local Skipper course, I hesitated in opting for West Coast, but today I can say with absolute certainty that it was the best decision I could have made. I didn't want to single anyone out, as the entire team is exceptional, but I can't help but highlight the sailing class with André, which was simply fantastic.
The platform they provide to students is an incredibly valuable resource, both for the quality of the lesson presentations and for the additional materials and exam examples. No doubt about the school for the Coastal Skipper course.

I was very pleased with the professionalism and care of the entire West COAST team. I came from Brazil to learn with the best and I was not disappointed. I can only Thank them for all the attention and commitment in helping me earn My Yachtmaster license. Thank you everybody ! I’ll be Back!

I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the conduct of the instructor during my recent skipper course.

Firstly, I was deeply disturbed by the fact that the instructor called me “stupid” during the course. This was not only inappropriate but also deeply disrespectful. Throughout the course, I experienced repeated instances of discrimination based on my nationality. These actions made me feel intimidated and uncomfortable, especially while at sea.

The instructor consistently displayed unacceptable behavior towards students. He yelled, screamed, and created a hostile learning environment. His behavior was not only directed at me but also affected other students on board.

One particularly concerning incident occurred when we were advised to remain in the marina due to poor weather conditions. Despite this, the instructor insisted on sailing to another marina. This decision put us in danger and caused me to feel genuinely scared for my safety on the ocean that day.

In addition to the emotional distress and fear I experienced, I often felt excluded from the group. The instructor’s actions made me feel small, isolated, and repeatedly left behind.

I believe this behavior is entirely unprofessional and contrary to the standards expected of any educational or training environment, especially one involving safety at sea. I hope this matter will be taken seriously and addressed appropriately to ensure no other student has to endure a similar experience.

I took the Skipper course (patrão local) with westcoast, and it was a a truly amazing experience.
The teachers and the the whole team are very nice, knowledgeable and always available to help and explain everything.
I had no prior sea experience, and I passed 1st time.
I can't recommend them enough

Escola de navegação que não está apenas preocupada com a obtenção da carta dos alunos, mas também com a transferência de conhecimntos bastantes úteis para os futuros navegadores.

Tive a oportunidade de tirar a carta de patrão local da West Coast e não podia estar mais contente pela escolha. Não só a equipa de professores é espetacular, como as embarcações utilizadas nas aulas práticas são 5 estrelas para aprender a governar e a manobrar ;)

Well organized school and provides all the necessary resources to pass the exam. Experienced and friendly instructors.

I did a Local Skipper training in West Coast - Lisbon Sailing Centre in May 2022 and everything went well.
The professors are great, very didactic and have extensive knowledge in the subject presented.
The material is self explanatory and helps the students to fix the subject in their heads.
The boats are great and very good to learn and practice.
What I liked most is that there are no judgments. If you have any questions or asks, all the trainers helping you to understand.
To sum up, I passed the exam and I am very happy with my Local Skipper certification.

Our two days on the start yachting course exceeded our expectations. The instruction was first rate and the instructor made us feel safe and instilled confidence, and we benefited from his vast experience. The whole dynamic of the weekend was instructive and enjoyable and one which we would recommend to anyone thinking of starting yachting.

O curso está muito bem organizado pela parte da escola e temos à nossa disposição todo o material necessário para o concluir. É notória a preocupação dos formadores pela nossa aprendizagem e se houver dúvidas eles estão sempre lá para nos ajudar. Recomendo muito.

A escola está bem organizada, todo o material de estudo é disponibilizado online e a formação é completa e interessante.
