Very fair deal and excellent car provided.

I bought a VX5 from Windmill and it was a really friendly and pleasant experience. In checking the car before buying they agreed to carry out some maintenance on parts and raised no extra charge for doing a considerable amount of work. The car was in a showroom condition when collected and trading in my old car. Highly recommended and would do business with them again.

I would strongly advise anyone to be very careful when purchasing a vehicle from this dealer.

I purchased a Volkswagen Arteon (2018) advertised with “full service history”. Shortly after purchase, the car developed a serious gearbox fault (DSG), making it unreliable and unsafe to use.

The issue appeared after only a short period and relatively low mileage, which clearly indicates that the problem was already present before the sale.

When I contacted the dealer, I did not refuse repair — I simply asked for clear details about how the repair would be carried out, what parts would be used, and what warranty would be provided. I never received a proper explanation.

Communication was poor, and I felt pressured to leave the car without transparency or guarantees regarding such a major component.

Eventually, the situation had to be escalated through the finance company, who confirmed there was a fault with the vehicle.

Overall experience:
- Vehicle not as described (“full service history” did not include critical DSG maintenance)
- Major fault shortly after purchase
- Lack of clear communication and transparency
- Poor after-sales support

I recommend anyone buying from this dealer to:
- Check service history very carefully (especially gearbox service)
- Get an independent inspection
- Do not rely solely on the description provided

I can honestly say this was one of the best car-buying experiences I’ve ever had. The car was fully prepared before purchase — new brake pads, new tires, a full service including engine oil change. Everything that should have been done was done properly, without cutting corners.

Collected my new car from Windmill Motors just before the new year and I am very pleased with the car. I found it on eBay and from there had gone to their website to get in contact, replies were swift and answering the questions I had in full which was really good. I received photos of the car and a walk around video they did for me as I was around 4 hours away from them, giving me the confidence to buy the car. We arranged collection on a day that suited us all and I went to collect.
Ibby greeted me and my partner when we arrived and came out to us which I thought was nice, like he was expecting us and keeping his eye out which to me is more of a personal and welcoming touch. We finalised some paper work and took the vehicle on a little test drive just to make sure I was happy with it. The cars first impressions was it was very clean inside and out so had clearly been valeted correctly which for me is something I look for, so I was very happy with that. And even though I’d already technically bought the car them offering a test drive to ensure I was happy gave me more reassurance they are striving to deliver on the cars they sell. I did look around their other cars outside and I am pleased to say they all had the same standard to them. Their facilities were nice and clean, they have a showroom which was nice and bright with some of their cars in and we were offered refreshments while there and if we wanted to take anything back for the drive home as well. It doesn’t end there however as their after care and support since I collected the car has been amazing and I am very grateful of that.
Overall for me a very very positive experience and I am very glad I had the opportunity to find this car and have it from them, thanks to Windmill Motors and a special mention to Ibby who has been very polite and always answering the questions I have had, and handled everything for me.

First of all I would like to say the staff at windmill motors were excellent from start to finish with us,I purchased a vw tiguan from them on Saturday me and my partner drove 200 mile 3 hour journey from Newcastle and boy was it worth it the car looks and drives great, windmill motors is a family run business I would 100% recommend anyone thinking about purchasing a vehicle from them as they take pride in there job, they went far an beyond in helping me and my partner purchasing our vehicle,this company is the real deal would highly recommend,until the next time guys thanks again we are so happy with our new car.
