Wines Direct is an Irish family owned and operated wine importers. The wines we offer you represent a 25-year labour of love. We are uncompromising in our mission to source independently made wines directly from growers around the world and we apply our strict selection criteria to each and every wine on our list, from the everyday to the extraordinary.
We go out of our way to avoid the boring, mass-produced wines so as to create and sustain a market of choice for you and your fellow wine lovers. We do so by walking the ground of the world’s famous and not so famous wine regions and by directly sourcing from dedicated and fiercely independent winemakers. Where the supermarket chains sponsor homogeneity and bulk production, we believe our approach encourages diversity, independence and quality.

New wine shop in Athlone
We went to check the Wines Direct shop recently open in Athlone.
Staff is very friendly and knows a lot about wine.
They have some bottles on offer open for you to taste.
Looking forward to the tasting events!

So many choices...
Great spacious shop with good lighting. A very good selection of young wines from various countries and regions too. The friendly staff know what they are talking about which is great help. Got a few bottles so far and never disappointed with some surprising discoveries. White, red, rosé, champagne, proseco etc... Wine tasting coming up too... Great addition to our town of Athlone. Best of luck to the wines direct team.

Great vines, excellent selection
Staff has great knowledge about wines, very helpful with selection. The tasting is offered as well for weekly chosen wines. Very nice shop.

Paid a quick visit for a nose around. Ended up buying 🤪🤪 The staff were lovely. Very helpful and knowledgable across the board. .

lovely new shop
