Awesome Staff
My wedding is in January 2014. I'm highly intimidated with planning big events, so I'm trying to take things one step at a time. My three sisters are my brides maids, and we all decided to go hunting for the maid dresses. The first place we decided to check out was Alfred Angelo over by Wilow Brook Mall in Houston, TX. We were able to get a consultation without a wait, and we had an amazing consultant named Michelle. She pulled several dresses with several different cuts and styles to fit my diverse brides maids. She was patient, kept up conversation with me while my sisters were getting dressed so i wasn't sitting there alone and bored, and was very helpful in suggesting different types of dresses. she made all of us feel beautiful and appreciated. she laughed and had a good time with us. After we had our favorite dresses picked out she let all of us try on a veil and pose together for a picture. The dresses everyone liked best were a bit pricey, but for the experience, we just might be willing to pay the difference.
I went back a week later to try on wedding gowns with my mother. Even though we didn't' have an appointment, Michelle made us a priority. She showed the same interest and devotion to helping me find the perfect dress according to my body type and my specific tastes. My mother was in a sour mood that day, but Michelle wouldn't let that get me down. she made me feel pretty in every dress, just as if i was her own daughter getting fitted for the most important day of her life.
all in all, an amazing experience.
How are they still in business??!?!
Much like the rest of the comments on this bridal shop, I had an absolutely horrific experience with this place!!
I went to the Alfred Angelo in syracuse, NY and the first appointment I had was great. My mom and I went in there and I was showered with attention from all of the staff. I ended up picking my wedding dress that day. I ordered and paid for my dress that day and made another appointment to come back and have it altered and pick out bridesmaids dresses.
When I came back for my 2nd appointment the experience I had with them was completely opposite of what I got the first time. I walked in and wasn't even greeted by anyone who worked there( and mind you I was the only person in there besides 1 other bride trying on dresses). I came there to be pinned for my alterations and I brought all of my bridesmaids to find and be measured for dresses. There was a group of us and we sat there for a half hour before finally walking up to the front desk(which you could undeniably see from where we all were sitting) and telling the manager (Christine) their sizes. She interrupted us and told us that the only one who could tell us their sizes were them. I then asked her why they hadn't done that or even walked up to ask if we needed help in the half hour we had been sitting there. She said nothing. So my girls were in the process of being measured and they were so rude to all of us. Before leaving they told me I needed to pay for my alterations that day which they had not told me at any point in time beforehand. I did not have enough money to pay that day which I informed them of and their response was "well you'll have to pay twice for being pinned another time. We can't leave the pins in" WTF??? So i had to call my mom to have her pay over the phone.
That's not even the worst of it. I went back to be fitted for my dress and they couldn't find me in the computer. I sat there for 20 minutes while the manager looked for my name in the computer. After she found me and had me fitted I told her I wanted to order my bridesmaids dresses. She ordered them and told me they would take 8-12 weeks to come in. Well my sister got a phone call 2 weeks after and was told that her dress was in. I thought ok how awesome! We called back to see how many dresses were in and the same manager rudely told me that none of my girls dresses were in and that I would have to call back in another 6-10 weeks and they should be in. I took it upon myself to go there( which is 45 minutes from my house) to see if the dresses were there. Needless to say I found out that 2 out of my 6 dresses were there. So basically she was too god damn lazy to go back in the storage room or even in the computer to check and see if they were actually there!!
I got the rest of my bridesmaids dresses in and altered about 6 weeks after the other 2 were picked up. I was also told that if I didn't come pick up the dresses that I had already paid for they would send them back. How can this store send something back that I had paid for??Also, my junior bridesmaids dress was altered so wrong by the seamster there that I had to have the dress completely taken apart and re-altered by someone else. Yet they still made me pay for the alterations I had them do and wouldn't refund me any of the money I had spent on the alteration. Well I was extremely upset that I had to deal with this kind of customer service and I wanted to let the manager know that I was very unhappy with my experience. When I called and talked to her about it she said she wasn't going to deal with this and HUNG UP ON ME!!!Are you kidding me?!?!? How are these people still in business! I feel like it is a mandatory requirement to be as rude as possible to the customers when these people are offered this job!!
Skip it Worst company ever.
We went to the one in Syracruse, and much like the rest of these comments....you should skip it.
They sit you down, give your group some candy and kleenex and a lovely young lady who tries to find the right dress and you start to wonder what all those negative comments were about and then BAMM you soon find out...about the rudest manager. The manager not only was heard saying in very rude tones..."one more dress"(with a nudge towards the assistant helping us, after we had only tried on 4 dresses), and "what does the bride think"(after the bride had already acknowledged she didn’t care for the dress). Such things toward other groups were also overheard rather loudly such as "you need a dress? That one has about a thousand". The behaviour of an overbearing, rude manager who by the way let the group wouldn’t pull any dresses, will surely put this little establishment out of sale... By the sounds of some of the comments online regarding this place, the feeling is mutual.
We went to Davids Bridal which was next door and found a dress almost right away without the pressures of a manager interfering.
This STORE IS TERRIBLE!
MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER! This store is so unorganized, can never find my file or any of my bridesmaids files. When the dresses have finally come in they are damaged and not the correct size. The manager of the Regency Store (Jordan Merritt) was very rude and not helpful to any situation. One of my bridesmaids dresses was ordered one size too big. She clearly fit into the model in the store perfectly and ordered that size. When the dress came in it was huge and she could do nothing to help her. Why would you pay 200$ for a dress that looks like crap and does not come as the specify. This is not a made to fit store, they get you to the closest size avaiable and then you have to spend more money to alter the dress. They do not tell you any of this information when you purchase. Only after the fact when it is too late. VERY SHADY COMPANY! Especially the manager (Jordan Meritt).
If I could... I would give this place zero stars
Alfred Angelo has the worst customer service I have every experienced in my life! Don’t get me wrong, my initial visit was great. I had one on one attention for my full 2 hour appointment. They were patient, very helpful, talkative, and answered all of my questions. I even ended up purchasing a dress that day! But sadly, this is where the happy story ends.
About a month later, I made another appointment to look at bridesmaid dresses and accessories. For the duration of my 2 hr. appointment (that they insist you make with them to ensure ample time and attention for each customer), my family and I were completely on our own. I was helping my sister in and out of dresses, getting different sizes, etc. My mother approached our sales lady to ask for some help multiple times. Each time, the girl told us that she would be with us soon, and then continued to make sales at the register and assist walk-in customers. We ended up spending well over an hour, sitting there waiting for assistance.
When we expressed our frustration about the situation, they basically did nothing. They apologized and said that this wasn’t at all typical of them! Thinking maybe it was just a fluke thing, I let it go.
Recently I received a call from them letting me know my dress was in, but that I had to pick it up in a week or else they were going to get rid of it!!! I was completely baffled!
Before purchasing my dress, I told them that I was from out of town and asked if it would be a problem for them to hold onto my dress until I was back in town. They assured me that that wouldn’t be a problem, and that they do that a lot for their “out of town girls”. When I reminded the lady of what they had assured me, she said, “We can’t keep your dress here. We need to move inventory.” Seriously?!?!?!? Now I am busting my butt to try and get back to that store so that they don’t get rid of the dress that I paid for!
I started talking to more people who had purchased their dress at Alfred Angelo, and found out that they all had similar stories. Basically, the sales people are really nice to you until you buy a dress. Once they have your money, or even a deposit for that matter, they don’t give a crap about you and they treat you like dirt. They are flat out rude!!!
Now I am reading about dressed being the wrong size and stuff… this is a total nightmare! I really wish I read these reviews before I purchased a dress from that store. I really think that the only people leaving good reviews are employees of Alfred Angelo. Like I said, I haven’t met a single person who had a good experience at this store.
Totally unethical business practices. They are thieves.
Where do I start....I ordered my dress and when it came in, it did not begin to fit. They insinuated I had gained weight. They measured me and found out that my measurements were the same as when they ordered the dress. However, they then measured the dress and discovered that the dress had been labeled with the incorrect size. So, we then sent away for the dress in the correct size.
The dress came in the second time. It still did not zip up the back. The seamstress said not to worry as the sides could be let out. I then went back months later to get my dress altered, and the seamstress told me that there was not enough material to let out and that we'd need to re-make the back of the dress, and that I'd need to purchase fabric to do so. This totalled around $450....Then, there would also be the hemming and bustling fees of another $400....So, now the alterations are costing as much as the original dress. (Mind you, my weight and measurements have not changed since the dress was purchased).
The store manager (San Gabriel, CA) would not work with me on an exchange, refund, or return. She said the receipt says "no refunds, returns, or exchanges." So, they deliberately sold me a dress that was not the right size, so they could make tons of money in alterations...
I went to David's Bridal and found a dress that fit me perfectly (no alternations necessary) for a fraction of the price they wanted for alterations.
So, basically, it's ok for them to sell us the wrong size, and we are stuck with the dress...!
They also tried to charge me a storage fee for the week they were holding my dress until I could decide if I wanted to actually have it altered by them or not. There is nothing in their contracts about storage fees.
I will be seeking legal counsel on this matter and will definitely be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau! Total thieves!
Alfred Angelo in Whitehall, PA
Bought my dress at an Alfred Angelo in Monroeville, PA which had fair customer service. Dress came quick and people were helpful. Moved to Allentown and did not know any bridal shops int he area, so I decided to use Alfred Angelo for my alterations since I knew the name. It's been the worst experience I've had and sadly, the most stressful point of my wedding.
Here's what's happened SO far :
- Made an appointment 2 months early, about 6 months before my wedding for a fitting. Showed up for my appointment, was told I did not have one. Tried to reschedule me for a few weeks away. Employees didn't believe me, so I showed them my appointment card and told them I was booked and could not reschedule. Seamstress was on vacation, so I was pinned by another seamstress. Was told the dress would be sewed and be finished at my next appointment. Unfortunately, it got worse from there.
- Showed up for my "final fitting." Seamstress tried to give me the wrong dress. They went in the back and could not find MY dress. So I had to wait almost an hour for the seamstress to go back to her house to find my dress. The dress had not been sewed or touched since my first appointment. Seamstress even said "I haven't seen this dress yet." I had to be repinned. Asked when my wedding was and I told them. Response was basically, "oh we have plenty of time to get it done." Had to be rescheduled for ANOTHER final fitting.
My wedding is less then a month away. My dress was supposed to be completed and it is not. Frankly, I'm terrified that it will not be done or lost again before my wedding. The stress and anxiety that I have been through at this place was not worth it. But best advice for any bride is if you like the dress, find it elsewhere at a boutique and if you need alterations, don't walk but RUN, RUN, RUN somewhere else. I would never, ever go through this again.
Horrible customer service and incorrect product size
I cannot believe that there aren't more negative reviews about this Alfred Angelo store!
Unfortunately, I did not go into the store myself to check it out (I am the bride and I bought my dress elsewhere, thank God!). However, I liked a dress they had for my bridesmaids and flower girls so all of my bridesmaids and my flower girls got their dresses there. Every person that store is rude! They made nasty comments to BOTH of my sisters! Not only that but they ignore you when you are obviously looking for some assistance!
So my BIGGEST problem which is even WORSE than their customer service issues....
They ordered the wrong size for one of my flower girls and, of course, we have no recourse!
Brides BEWARE of Alfred Angelo in Arlington, TX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terrible Customer Service at the Whitehall store in PA thus far
So far I am not impressed at all with the customer service of the Alfred Angelo store in Whitehall PA. I ordered my dress at the end of October 2009 for my wedding in Sept 2010. My dress ended up coming in very quickly at the end of January, when I went to pick it up I tried it on in the store before I left , I was upset to see that it was made incorrectly.
The store offered tor remake me a new dress, basically I had to choice but to go with it since I was unable to get a refund as I was told this was not an option because there was plenty of time before my wedding to get a new dress made.
At this point I was told by the manager my dress would be ready in about 3 months, since then I have called once a month to check on the status. Each time I called the ship date has been pushed back from the end of April, till the 15th or May, when I called on May 17th I was told it was shipped, now on May 28th after hearing nothing- I called to see what happened, the ship date has been pushed back to sometime in July.
When I spoke to the manager on the phone she implied that I should have spoken to her directly and not any other sales person about the ship date...like I had some fault in this matter. I would think that being the manager of the store, she would be tracking issues since it was a mistake on Alfred Angelo's part...customers should not have to repeatedly call to find out what the hold up is, they should be tracking problems on their end. I would also expect that the other employees should be able to answer questions from customers.
The manager also had no compassion, she did not even seem apologetic.... that would have gone a long way when speaking to someone with a problem on a purchase that is so special and expensive to brides.
I am also scared that if my dress comes in wrong the second time in July, I will be forced to take the dress and have to wear it because it is way to close to my wedding date to get another on and I will feel totally cheated.
So now because of the long weekend I have to wait till Tuesday so the manager can find out what the problem is, can't wait to see how this goes. ...at this point I have no confidence in this company what so ever.
Very bad service in Jacksonville, FL store.
I ordered a bridesmaid dress from the Alfred Angelo store in Jacksonville, FL. I ordered the dress in early January 2010, paid the $15 fee for express shipping and was told the dress would be in by end of February before I moved to South Carolina. The wedding was April 24, 2010. Once the dress came in, it had a flaw on the bust and the Store Manager, Ann Wallace, informed me that she had reordered the dress because she wanted me to have a perfect dress. I asked her to send me the original dress so that I could make the decision as to whether I wanted to keep the flawed dress or continue with the reorder. I asked her to proceed with the reorder. The second dress came in about a month later. I sent the original dress back to the store and asked Ann to send me the 2nd dress. She stated that the dress would be sent out that day, a Friday. After 1-2 weeks, I still had not received the 2nd dress. So I called the store and asked for a tracking number for the dress as I had not received it yet. I was told that it was still in the store and had not been shipped. The store employee then had the dressed shipped to me. Once I received the 2nd dress, I noticed it had the same flaw in it as the first dress, but the snag was worse than the 1st dress. I called Ann to let her know this, and it seemed that the store employees did not inspect this dress before shipping to me. I then drove the dress from South Carolina to Jacksonville for her to see and discuss my options. I asked her to discount the dress or alterations and she stated that she would not be able to authorize that. She then stated that she would give a $5 credit for my trouble and I felt that this was a huge slap in the face as I had driven from South Carolina which is a 500 mile roundtrip. I have spent more in gas, lodging and food than the cost of the dress traveling back and forth to deal with this situation at the store. At this time Ann contacted merchandising to see if there was any way to order a 3rd dress in less than 2 weeks. They informed her that would be possible. So she ordered the 3rd dress and it was due in on April 22nd or 23rd, a day or two before the wedding. I was to pick up the dress and have it altered the day before the wedding. As of April 23rd in the A.M. the dress had not come in. I asked Ann if the dress could be discounted for the inconvenience of the issues or if she could authorize a discounted alteration fee. She stated that she had never heard of that being done. I also called to inform Ann that I would not be attending the wedding as I had been very ill in the hospital the day before and could not travel to Orlando for the event. I asked her if I could get a refund on the dress first of all because I still had not received the dress and secondly, I was ill and no longer needed the dress. I asked, “If I would be stuck with the dress?” Ann stated, “I don’t want to be rude, but in your own words, you are stuck with the dress”. She stated that she would get the dress in the mail to me a few days after the wedding. As of Friday, May 7th, I still had not received the dress, so I called the store and left a message in the morning time. As of today, May 10th, I still have not received a call back. So I have called the store and the lady that answered the phone stated that Ann was on a conference call and asked to take my contact information and would have her call me back. Just about the time I was going to hang up, she said that Ann was coming, if I would just hold one moment. I agreed. Ann would not pick up the phone to speak with me. I heard her talking and answering my questions through the store employee in the back ground. I asked when the dress was mailed and Ann stated, “If she hasn’t received the dress by Wednesday, May 12th, give us a call”, I asked again when the dress was mailed and Ann stated, I don’t remember the day, just give us a call on Wednesday if she has not received the dress”. I don’t feel that my experience has been a good one and would not recommend this store or brand to anyone. I have talked with the bride and we both have read reviews that were negative from other brides. I feel that store managers should be empowered to discount or make some kind of concession for store or manufacturer errors. None of the faulty dresses or faulty customer service was due to any error on my part. The treatment and run around that I have received is not acceptable.
Pay Bad Reviews No Mind
After a long and unrewarding bridal search in Baltimore I ended up at Alfred Angelo by chance. I saw the store while driving and stopped in figuring I had nothing to loose. I was serviced promptly despite not having an appointment. The first two dresses I tried on were a miss but the last one was absolutely gorgeous. The customer service was excellent not pushy at all. I also recieved a 15% discount on my dress. It arrived on time as promised and I couldn't be happier. You will not be dissappointed by the selection. I'm sorry to hear about the bad experiences of others but if you want good services, affordable prices and a beautiful product head to Alfred Angelo!
BUYER BEWARE
GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. Went to store in Beverly Hills. They seemed nice, told you whatever you want to hear to make sale, but once the money is out of your hands-story changed. Beware of alteration costs. Told me at time of purchase around $300-denied this afterwards. How does $400 for a hem and bustle sound - not including other alterations?! Be prepared to pay an extra $60 to expedite getting material/lace otherwise you won't get it on time. Terrible customer service. Sorry I didn't listen to previous reviews.
Skip Alfred Angelo
To all future brides: do not shop at the Alfred Angelo store on MacArthur Road in Whitehall PA. The sales reps seem are very helpful, but they would be more helpful to potential buyers if they had ANY idea what they were talking about. Anamaria was assisting me and I liked her from the start, went to purchase my dress and was screamed at by the store manager, MariBeth (Anamaria was tied up, so the order was going to be placed by the manager) Turns out that my dream dress (which took me 2 months to finally settle on) could not be ordered. Anamaria had sworn up and down that the dress I wanted could be made in one of the colors listed on the website and also in the booklet they provided me (I wanted a white dress with a splash of color) well MariBeth the "manager" yelled and made me look like a fool in front of a packed store. Later I was informed by Anamaria that she made a mistake, but they would be able to make the dress (in the colors listed in the book and online) if I paid an extra $180 for it (yeah... right, spending that much extra when I'm already buying a wedding dress... - how much is this store looking to rip people off ??) Then they want to charge $300 for the fittings (plus mine would be extra since I would need to purchase extra fabric...) I'd suggest to all brides to SKIP this store and go to a small bridal shop. They will be more then happy to assit you and you will find that most places offer FREE fittings (the place I went to even carried Alfred Angelo)
Best of luck ladies.
Absolutely horrible
PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. The dresses are beautiful and affordable but working with this company has been a NIGHTMARE.
I was told by a sales associate that my dress was paid for before I agreed to the astronomical alteration fee of $400. Thinking that my dress was paid in full by my mother, I was able to afford the alterations. Otherwise, I would have taken the dress elsewhere for half the price. They let me sign an alteration agreement which states that my dress was paid for. After my dress was altered (and they made me drive 1 1/2 hours TWICE to try and pick it up), I took it home. FIVE MONTHS LATER they called me to tell me I still owed $370 for my dress and that there was a mistake and I never should have been able to have my dress altered or to take it home. My wedding is TWO months away. Because I don't have the money to pay for the dress (since I spent the rest of my dress budget on alterations), they are sending my account to collections. Now I am stuck with a dress I cannot afford and cannot return... because of THEIR mistake. I believe they waited to tell me about their "mistake" for five months so that I was so close to my wedding date (which they were well aware of) so that I had no choice but to keep the dress, even if I was able to talk them into letting me return it.
Also, two of by bridesmaids were sized wrong and the wrong dress size was ordered by the store. They were told they were not allowed to exchange the dress. They now must pay over $150 to get it altered because the dresses are so huge.
Please do not go to this store. The dresses are very nice but the headache and the bad credit score is not worth it.
