Wow, service continues to diminsh!!!!!

Wow, Allen Edmonds no longer allows you to send a check to re-crafting. With today's on going concern for credit theft, it's mind boggling that they require you to hand write your credit card information. They could wait for your check to clear (in about 2 days) but no - they choose to push customers away. Product has decreased in quality over the years and now their customer service is as well.

This companies customer service is a…shitshow

This companies customer service is a joke. I got a gift card 3 months ago because it was my favorite brand. It never showed up, called customer service. They said they would expedite it since they were unable to send a digital copy. It never showed up, called again. The guy was rude and said maybe i should look at another brand that doesn't have as high demand since there so busy. the third time I called the person on the phone said she can't believe this happened and that she'll rush it (without even charging me? are you kidding me? What a luxury after 3 months of this brand messing up). This is the prime example of a company destined for greatness but they go cheap on employees and lose all the repeating customers... still havent received my gift card.. its been over 3 months

Bought a pair of shoes on line that were shipped from out of state store and they fit poorly in the heel area. On line return process prints label and returns to their central warehouse .

Found out after calling because there was no confirmation of the return after 10 days that I would only get a store credit or have to wait 8 to 10 weeks for a check.

This is not mentioned on their website and I asked why I could not a credit on my charge card. I was told so sorry, this is our pollicy.

What a POS customer service company!!

I will never buy from Allen edmonds and will share this experience with everyone.

Thank you, Jessica, Lori and Nicole.

I experienced a couple of shipping issues but both were corrected by the good team at AE. Jessica, customer service manager and two of her lead staff, Lori and Nicole handled in accordance with the historically good business culture of AE. They are working hard to keep the legendary name and superb qualities of Allen Edmonds alive. Thank you, Jessica, Lori and Nicole.

Legendary Quality Is no longer the case at Allen Edmonds.

I recently purchased a pair of voyager shoes in black. The shoes are very comfortable and after having them for less than a week and only wearing them three times the sole began separating from the shoe. I went to retail store to see if I could exchange them even though I bought them on line. The sales associate told me he could only recraft them. I chose to call customer service where the agent said they would replace them not recraft and provided shipping and return labels. I returned the shoes and today more than a week after I returned them, I received a notification they were recrafting the faulty shoes that were less than a week old. Should I have confidence in the quality of Allen Edmonds shoes? Is this good customer service? So much for legendary quality.

Update: after a few calls and a visit to the store Allen Edmonds fixed the issue and are sending me a new pair of shoes. I’m very appreciative of the company standing behind its products.

NOT WHAT THEY USED TO BE

As an AE customer of over 30 years, I too have seen this company decline in customer service and quality while raising prices. Final straw was their refusal to change an order when I noticed that I had entered the wrong width of a shoe that had a notice that it would take two weeks to craft. I had contacted them within two hours after they sent the acknowledgment of the order. NO CHANGES for a shoe that will not be made until two weeks from my request. I had attempted to make the change within MINUTES of making the order, but their email system rejected ALL attempts to email them indicating that my email contained credit card information, which it did NOT. I tried that system, with no success, a dozen times and all emails were rejected. Other items: Free two day shipping on the other items--no, it is now four days and the items are not here. We all have choices in buying products. This company no longer cares about the truth or its customers, so all I can do is reject these purchases and return them at their expense. Another issue: this company used to provide pre-paid bags to return shoes for recrafting. That was very convenient, but they stopped that too. For me, it was not the saving of the postage, it was the convenience. I stopped sending the shoes for re-crafting and found a local cobbler who is highly skilled, who charges about half the cost of AE and the shoes are ready weeks faster. I just purchased two pairs of shoes of other brands, for the first time in 30 years. Can't wait to wear them! They look great and the cost was about the same. Now shopping for other items. By the way, notice that there has not been a 5 star review of this company in years. There is a reason for that.

Lost a loyal customer today.

If I had written this review 2-3 years ago it would have been an easy 5 Star rating; However, even since Allen Edmonds was bought out they have fallen from grace. They’re all about awful customer service, seconds being sold as firsts, and gimmicks using words like “artisan” [which is actually below a maestro/ master shoe maker] and tattoos and camo on boots.
They’ve raised their prices and lowered their standards.
I’ll only go into my last run in with their customer service with this review; and when I say last, I also mean the last ever, because I’ll be going to Alden or Crocket & Jones from now on.
My first mistake was ordering from their official eBay page, since I was aleady ordering stuff on that site anyways. Was excited to see that they still had a few pairs of the original Normandy boots. better construction, better sole, better kudu leather... you get the idea. Paid for them, got a confirmation. The next day they were removed from my purchases. Okay weird. I check my card... yep, still charged. I call customer service, the guy was nice enough, but honestly of no help. He offered to sell me the current Normandy boots at a 20% discount. I asked him why I would want to buy a pair of inferior quality for twice the price. He said it was the best he could do or he could escalate the call, I kindly asked him to do so. A week went by, and no call back, instead I get a low brow email from a representative stating “sorry you’re dissapointed” dissapointed?! You have my money and are claiming I didn’t order anything, dissapointed isn’t the word I’d use. The next email stated that they never got an order from me. I sent them a screen shot of my order and *all* of my personal info.
Two days later I get another short reply, “are you sure you ordered from us?” And then proceeded to ask me for my shipping info and email address. Which I had sent in the previous email.... that has my email address, ya know, attached to it. Then they all together quit responding.
Okay, so I said to myself ‘well until this gets resolved I’ll order a pair on their actual website’. THE SAME THING HAPPENED. Alls I wanted was a pair of boots that were on sale! So, today I went into my local Allen Edmonds store, where normally they are the people that care the most about their customer base. I’m telling the assistant manager what happened, and what the rep said about 20% off, and she’s just nodding her head along being ‘sympathetic’ while she’s sliding the boots on my feet to try on. I said I’ll take them, and asked again about the discount that the rep promised me for the whole inconvenience, and she laughed. She said “you think i’m just gonna hand out a discount because they didn’t have a old boot” in thee most condescending tone I’ve ever heard, completely disregarding that her company has $400.00 of mine just sitting in limbo. In my line of work that’s called fraud. After spending thousands of dollars at that store over just the last couple of years, I will never be back.

Only thing worse than shoes is their customer service

I sent my Park Avenues back at the end of last year (Oct '18) to be recrafted. They came back and within 2 or 3 weeks the heel started pulling off. I take them back to the store and they offer no assistance other than to ship them back to be recrafted again. I get the shoes back finally and they did not put the correct soles on. So now I have to go back again and they still do nothing besides send them back to be recrafted for the 3rd time in 2 months. I get them back this time and they have the correct sole. I then wear them a few times, mind you I have multiple pairs of AEs, so I don't wear them consecutive days. No more than 4 or 5 times of wearing them the heel completely fell off. At this point, I have had it with these shoes. I just want to get rid of them. The only solution AE offers is for me to send them back for an inspection which will take upwards of 7 weeks, after which they cannot tell me any potential courses of action. Then as a consolation, they offer me a one time 20% off code. I cannot stand the customer services they offer and will never buy another pair of their shoes again.

The worst customer service AE and…

The worst customer service AE and shipping service. I order my boots six days ago. My order said free 2 days shipping with order of $150 or more. They send me a email with tracking information saying that i was gonna recibe my package (Friday) yesterday. After I waited all day it never came. I go back to my track information and it change for next day. I call customer service and the lady had no clue . She was claiming that my delivery was for the next day and that there is nothing she could do. I decided to wait till the next day. Today ( Saturday) waited again and same thing no shoes and the email switch to Tuesday. I call AE customer service again the lady I spoke to really rude and no courtesy. That ther is nothing she can do. That if I want to I can call fedex and find out my self. And I tell her that them are the one who should call the shipping company because the pick who they are sending it with. I tell her about the 2 day free shipping and literally she call me a liter. Because she was saying that there weren’t not 2 days free shipping.i have a picture on case they want to see it. I wish I could post it with this email.. Her answer was that there is nothing she can do .. I trust it the free shipping offer. I was gonna order another pair of boots. But at this point I don’t think so. This is my first time buying from them iand is not a good experience with their customer service and the lie about the shipping service situation.... is a shame that a company who sell such a expensive merchandise have such a bad reviews.

They are a joke. Ordered a backpack.. 3-7 days.. 12 days I called.. then 4 week estimate. Finally got it. They promised a 15% discount because of my wait and being late for a gift. Now I am fighting them for the discount they promised. Never again. Joke of a company.. at least online.

I went to the store in South coast plaza. The moment I stepped inside, the sales already tried to walk away from me. I saw their eyes if if they thought you are broke so you won't spend a penny. In fact I have 500 cash and debit card in my pocket and want to spend it all. I was like, it's fine I will buy taft shoes or a cheaper one with thursday boot instead your luxury shoe.

30 year customer - Sadly disappointed

30 year customer with 10+ pairs of shoes and many recrafting experiences all good to date but on 10/25/2018 they let a great customer free fall out of their customer advocate portfolio. 2 things happened - #1 returned 3 pairs of shoes for recrafting and got one back. I called to see what colors the other 2 were that I wanted to order replacement ($1000). Order # 1442629 and I was put on hold to "find" those for over 15 min.. #2 - I get their emails all the time and wanted to order over $3000 worth of product that were on "America Sale" and because I was flying back from an international trip, they claimed the pricing time frame ran out (as if it was my fault I got an email from them with my location being other than CST/ USA) and could only credit back the difference once the products had shipped. In both instances Harold had to check with his supervisor, placing me on hold again. So - no $4000 order and I asked to be removed from their mailing list. The last time I checked, it costs a whole lot less keeping a great customer on the treadmill than getting a new one to buy for the first time! Funny thing is they wanted me to take a survey after the call !!! Why? I will let them see if they can find all the social media outlets that I have posted this (it was my 5 kids idea who the gifts were destine for, and future Allen Edmonds customers!)

High end product, low end service.

Allen Edmonds may have high end products but their system and customer service sure does not reflect it. I placed and order 17 days ago. I did not get any email updates. I follow up with email through the website inquiring about my order status. Automated response indicated I will be updated in 48 hours. Four days later, nothing. I had to call in order for me to get updates on my order status which was cancelled. Shoes that were on sale was subject to cancellation which was not indicated 'anywhere' on their website. Why would I even want to place and order so I can have it cancelled. The belt ordered "may also be cancelled as they are looking at retail stores for it." I was told by customer service that they are not use to the order cancellations and are updating their system. This is 2018 not 1990. Don't care how good their products maybe. The customer service sure does not live up to it. First and last time buyer.

I ordered shoes,a shirt and socks,iI received a confirmation that the items were in stock. The shirt arrived in 4 days, but no shoes or socks.)n the 12th day I called customer service. The recorded message gave a wait time of 12 minutes, after a wait of 21 minutes I was connected to a representative who informed me that I would not be getting the ordered items. They were not in stock and proceeded to give various reasons why they had mishandled my order and why they had failed to even bother to inform me of the problem.Nor did they offer any options that would resolve the error. This used to be a real nice company to do business with,no longer the case.AE seems to not care about retaining long term customers of which I was one.No more,I am done.

Horrible Experience So Far.

I ordered a pair of Mcallister Oxblood Wingtips for my wedding that is going to be in early October from a AE store near where I live. Shipping took about a week, which was fine, but when the shoes arrived they were 2 different colors. I thought it was a mistake and maybe they shipped me two different shoes but the numbers on the tongue matched. I thought it was weird but Allen Edmonds has a great reputation and I thought they would resolve this quickly considering the price of these shoes. I contacted costumer service and the representative who saw the pictures I had taken of them agreed with me that the shoes were different colors. The representative prompted me to return them for an exchange, which I did immediately. I waited about a week "after the shoes arrived back at the factory" mind you, to inquire about when my new shoes where going to ship because my wedding is in a couple weeks. The costumer service representative I talked to this time didn't seem sure on any information she was giving me.. She told me that an exchange would take at least a couple weeks because they are behind and that even a refund would also take about 2 weeks AND that she couldn't do a refund over the phone. She recommended that I go back to the store, pay for an entire new pair of shoes, and then just wait for whenever Allen Edmonds decides to give me my money back for the for the original shoes I ordered, which she wasn't sure when that would be. Allen Edmonds is an expensive company with a reputation and they need a costumer service department to equally reflect the price that a person is paying for their product. I'm probably not going to get my shoes before my wedding now, but there is no way in hell I am giving Allen Edmonds my business again after being sent bi- color shoes and being told I have to pay more money in order for them to correct it promptly. Huge disappointment, especially from an American made company.

Avoid this company

Ordered a pair of shoes and shoe trees during their sales recently. Shoes were never sent. Took me 2 emails and 10 days later before they actually told me that they didn't have the size that I ordered and that my ordered had been cancelled. They never informed me that, nor did the system reflect the cancellation.

What's worse is, they sent the shoe trees. So I got shoe trees with no shoes.

Just save yourself from trouble and avoid buying from them. There are many other online shoe stores.

What You're Really Buying with Expensive Shoes

What you’re buying with any expensive, high priced shoe, even custom-made ones, is “Oldness” - old materials and old styles. The shoes are mostly made of leather – both uppers and lowers with an occasional rubber sole thrown in (hence the “mostly”). Leather has been around for centuries. There’s nothing new about leather. Likewise, the styles mostly originated in the 1800s and have never changed. Oxfords, bluchers, and derbies are the norm with not much variation except in the brogue, i.e. number of holes and etchings in the uppers. Oldness is not necessarily bad as long as you understand the pros and cons of what you’re buying and this is why I write this review.

The pros, so I’m told, are that these shoes, if properly cared for, can last for 10 to 15 years – 20 to 25 for shell cordovan (or horse-a). You have to be willing to invest in premium shoe polishes and leather conditioners (aficionados wouldn’t dare use Kiwi) and be willing to do the polishing work yourself. Gone are the days when every man had his personal shoe-shine kit. Polishing involves multiple layers of creams and waxes and one saddle soap stripping per year. I cannot verify that the shoes last because I haven’t had mine for long. This is only what I’ve read. However, I’m not averse to polishing if it means doing the job right and I like things that last (I wish I could say this about just one model of car even an expensive one, but planned obsolescence makes the economy spin). This “lasting” thing, however only applies to the uppers. The soles have to be replaced several times over the life of the shoe. This is why AE advertises “re-crafting” for certain models. Presumably you’ll have to send your shoes back several times for re-soling … er, re-crafting, over their lifetime. So far, so good.

The con is the biggie: there’s a significant break-in period. We’ve forgotten this once ubiquitous experience mainly because, since the 1960s, shoe manufacturers have widely adopted the use of synthetics. These materials rarely need breaking in and frequently last quite long. I had synthetics for 5 years and they were very cushy. Every designer uses synthetics. However, with leather, our synthetic and sneaker coddled feet have to be prepared for a long period where they get abraded, chaffed, scraped, and cut to pieces. I’ve had to practically bandage my feet in order to wear my new AEs (Like everyone else I wear sneakers most of the time. Why haven’t sneakers become office standard?). In addition, the only thing between your feet and the pavement is a quarter inch, or maybe half, of leather. This often leaves you feeling like you’re walking on two wooden boards. Insoles were invented for “old” style shoes. The only padding you’ll find in these shoes is cork – again “old.” Why they don’t use synthetic soles and cushioning I’ll never know. Perhaps leather uppers and synthetic lowers don’t mix.

Again, we’ve become so used to synthetics that leather feels strange, or rather “old.” That’s because it is. So, keep in mind that with these high prices you’re not getting a rocket-age space shoe that’s super comfortable and cushy like a pair of running shoes. You’re getting an “old” shoe from the past that, just maybe, if you take care of them, will last! Now, if an interviewer happens to look down and say “Wow! Nice shoes” well that’s an added bonus but no one can promise that. Keep studying.

EUROPEAN COSTUMERS BE ADVISED* PRICES ARE INCORRECT

EUROPEAN COSTUMERS BE ADVISED* PRICES ARE INCORRECT
They are overcharging you in your own currency!
Their products may be okay, but they are cheating you, and have a terrible costumer service when confronted with this:

A product, an example, a shoe that cost 350 USD should cost around 292 EURO, but when you choose to get charged in EURO, they will charge you 309 EURO for the product. That is 370 USD. This counts for other European currencies as well, (danish crown, there be more)
(These prices were calculated by regular currency exchange per.22.september.2017)

When ordering, be sure to get charged in USD only, and not any other currency to be sure, to get the correct prize of the products...

Dear Allen Edmonds. If you have a proper response to this, please contact me or answer my emails on the eservice@allenedmonds correspondence...
