Found my job for my 88 days regional work through this website. Received quick response from employer also
I'm so disappointed with this website. I've travelled all over Australia and worked in numerous states, and I have had better opportunities and more responses on Seek, Indeed and Jora. 98% of the jobs posted on this website want "Locals only". It's a BACKPACKERS website. I came on this site specifically to get a rural job in the colder states (whether it's a roadhouse or farming job), and they don't want you if you don't have that current states license or permanent address, even if you're moving there, they don't wanna know. Jobs on this website should be filtered and removed to make way for jobs for travelers, as it was designed originally. I've even had interviewers not show up when I've cancelled my plans or other work opportunities for this specific interview. This website had such potential, but it is no longer a reliable website for backpackers.

Hi JayJay - Thank you for taking the time to leave this review and provide feedback. Travelling across multiple states and picking up work along the way is exactly the kind of experience I built this platform to support.
That said, I’m really sorry to hear things haven't gone as you would have hoped. Your frustration is understandable. And the part about an interviewer not showing up after you'd cancelled other plans or work commitments? That's genuinely awful and I’m sorry that happened to you.
Just to be clear about who we are: Backpacker Job Board exists for backpackers and working holiday makers, full stop. We don't encourage or endorse listings that shut travellers out. Since the project was launched in 2010, I’ve never encountered a situation where an employer is only accepting local applicants. It makes no sense that an employer would post a job ad to Backpacker Job Board (a site for working holiday makers) and not accept applications from exactly that audience.
Working holiday makers are a huge part of what makes Australia tick. From farms to roadhouses to hospitality, these industries genuinely rely on travellers (like you). I’m a proud supporter of the working holiday program.
