The app used to be 5 star. I had a great collection of recipes and it was my go to site for day to day cooking. Easy to use, reliable and free. The new app is way too expensive and the cost hard to justify. It was promised that the old collections would remain accessible even if not a subscriber. However, I have been unable to access my collections since the switchover. Poor show BBC Good Food!

Used this app now and again and found it handy, but have no intention of paying for extras that I have no need for, why did you not have subscription for those who want the added extras and just left the rest as it was.

As a family of vegetarians, I will not pay for a subscription that I will not use in full. Supermarket recipe magazines have the choice between meat or vegetarian/vegan recipe magazines.
I would not pay £25 for a recipe book so that is very expensive for an app or subscription just to get a years subscription and use the app. If you could add notes or amend the ingredients or quantity on the app I may consider £5 - £6 one off but a yearly £24.99 no way, the recipes can all be got via supermarket websites so nothing extra for your money.
Very disappointed that the App went from free to £24.99 per year overnight.

When times are so hard why is the BBC moving to subscription? The whole idea is shortsighted and disgusting. They will be responsible when my family all die from toast poisoning!!

Had this subscription for a year, magazine is ok, photographs are nice to browse. Recipes often seem complicated for the sake of it, often using tiny amounts of unusual ingredients, which adds to the cost but doesn't really add to the flavour.

Biggest issue is tried to change address, was assured it had been done by email. On phoning said it had not. They couldn't send issue to new address, despite being given over 2 weeks notice. Was told had to wait until incorrect address issue sent, then call yet again to request a new copy. Very poor logistics- definitely ought to do better.

My sister-in-law paid for a years subscription for my Xmas and I received the first issue in February. Last week I received a letter from buysubscription that the October issue was the last issue I would receive as the subscription had not been renewed. I thought there was 12 months in a year.Even after sending an email to query this we were informed that the subscription was for 9 months. Really ?

The recipes are AWFUL. And i mean AWFUL. I’ve tried at least 10 recipes from this site and they are nearly always tasteless. Do not waste your time or your food on this rubbish. Also i advise cancelling your BBC license, because the quality of their propaganda is also worthless.

Every time I’ve tried a bbc foods recipe it’s always ended horrible, just tried and American pancake recipe and unless you like burned pancakes don’t bother, as followed the bbc foods recipe and the mix is always far too Liquidy before it turning black say you’re unable to flip it, unless you want to ruin your pancake

A great site spoiled by a commercial revamp. Many of the original filter options have disappeared making the site much less useable. Ruined.

Since a recent IOS upgrade, although I can enter to site and find a recipe as soon as I tap on it I get taken straight out of the app and back to my Home Screen. Fortunately i can still access through Safari.

I love this app, and the recipes, but over the last few months have found it incredibly frustrating as recipes I have saved disappear the next time I go into it. I have wasted hours trying to find the recipes again, save them again, and again they disappear. The app on my iPad and the one on my iPhone also no longer synch. Disappointing.

The recipes have always impressed me and come out great.

Ad blacks out whole screen apart from ad and dock/taskbar, even if ad isn't on part of webpage on screen. Also autoplays as soon as webpage loads. thumbs down

Agree this used to be a fantastic site but is now almost unusable since trust media took over. Very disappointing as the recipes are still very good.

I like the facility of being able to get recipes you like on the BBC Good Food site. However I have in the last few months found the working of a key feature of the app dreadful - and I note that I am not alone in my criticism. When I 'save' recipes to my collections it appears to do so. However the next time I go into the app & try to access these saved recipes they have 'disappeared' so I go through the process of saving them again only to find that again they have failed to permanently save.
This is frustrating and a waste of my time.
What is the point of the app offering this service when the BBC? must know it's not working?

This is such an awful site. I create collections of my favourite recipes and they disappear! I delete recipes and they don’t delete. The app crashes frequently.

This brand was sold off as part of the BBC's cost-cutting a few years ago by a private company called Immediate Media (they also publish the Radio Times).

Since then it has become noticeably worse, with lots of intrusive pop-ups, an app that crashes all the time, and search results that are totally bizarre.

I am only leaving this review because I have spent the past 15 minutes just trying to log in to the site, only to get a 504 Bad gateway error every single time. The whole thing is just very poor and it's a shame that they chose to retain the BBC branding only to ruin the site.
