We did the 5 day, 4 night Highlands tour, including a ride on the Jacobite Steam train. Duncan, our guide/driver, did an excellent job of driving us on the narrow, twisty roads and at the same time entertaining us with many stories about Scottish history and geography. He made the best of a bad situation when the ferry was cancelled and he had to take a three hour detour to get us to Skye.
His great sense of humor and command of endless trivia kept us laughing on the roads.
There was one day when I felt it would have been better to have stayed at a closer hotel so we didn’t have such a long drive. Our favorite days were the ones where we hiked a lot and didn’t spend much time in the van. The choice of hotels was fine with good beds and lots of Highland charm.
The pace was good with lots of castles and amazing scenery along the way.
I would advise that you should be in good physical condition so you can keep up the pace and experience more of the countryside. The hikes through Bernam Woods, the garden at Armadale Castle and the hike along the River Tay were highlights.
I thought it was an excellent value for the money and would recommend Best Scottish Tours.

Our 7 day west coast islands and Braemar Gathering 31st August-6th September2026 provided a visit to those places we always wanted to visit - Loch Lomond, Inveraray, Oban wow - The Isle of Mull missed the Eagles and Whales but took in the Weavers - The Ardnamurchan Peninsula again the wild life was hiding ,beautiful landscape then over the sea to Skye where there was so much to take in.
Next we visit Loch Ness and I had a go of Sheep shearing. What and experience and amazed how so many dogs could be controlled by one person.
My main purpose for this holiday was to attend the Braemar Games which we absolutely loved. It might be an idea to request seats and undercover. The Games takes place all day and a long time to be standing. It was great to see the different events and to see the King and Queen arrive. We loved the marching of the Bands - what a show to be viewed.
This tour takes you to view such beautiful scenery and old castles with our driver Duncan providing information at every view point including Stirling Castel and the Forth Railway Bridge.
The hotels accommodation and food provided at each of our four stops was first rate with such helpful folk at every stop.
Thank you Best Scottish Tours for our well planned visit and to Duncan for looking after us and care for us.
The Van Transporter and the small group suited us admirably and we enjoyed the company of our four American Visitors who we hope to hear from and keep in touch in the future.

The “Best Scottish Tours” gave me one of the most amazing travel experiences I have ever had. My friend and I were looking for a tour that included “soup to nuts”. The Best Scottish Tours delivered on all their promises and then some!

We visited the promised highlights of Scotland. Duncan, our incredible guide, narrated the history of all these places with enthusiasm and pride. Along our journey, he included hidden gems like St Mary's Church in Grandtully and a little known but magical waterfall in the woodlands of the Scottish Trust among others. He picked up on our interests and tailored the tour to meet them where he could.

The accommodations were welcoming and comfortable and our dining experiences were great. The logistics of the tour nicely complemented the Scottish spirit we were discovering and Duncan took care of all of it. He was adept at anticipating our interests and challenges and at quickly resolving any issues.

I have taken many tours in my travels in Europe. This one was a gift! My friend and I will never forget “Best Scottish Tours” because it is among the best I have experienced and Duncan helped make it so.

We just returned from the 8-day Best of Scotland Tour with Jacobite Steam Train, and it was everything we hoped it would be. Our tour guide, Kenny, was absolutely phenomenal. He ensured that everything went smoothly and seamlessly throughout the trip and was very conscientious of our needs and time. We especially appreciated that he added a few quick stops to sites that were not on the itinerary because he thought they were worth seeing.

We have no complaints. The office staff kept communication open from day one and remained in contact throughout the tour. Booking the trip was a breeze, and the updates we received prior to departure were very helpful and appreciated.

Best Scottish Tours offers smaller group tours, which we found to be much more enjoyable than traveling with larger tour groups. If you want to experience Scotland in a more personalized setting, you cannot go wrong with Best Scottish Tours!

We completed the 11-day Grand Tour of Scotland with Best Scottish Tours (BST) in September 2025.

The route, hotels, and itinerary were thoughtfully designed, scenic, and well-paced, though a few stops felt unnecessarily extended.

However, our overall experience was dampened by an incident in which one of our hand-carry bags was inadvertently left behind at a hotel. While it was ultimately recovered — for which we remain sincerely grateful to the driver-guide and office team — the handling of the situation fell short of what we would expect from a premium tour operator.

Initial responses felt fairly hands-off, placing the burden of resolution on us even as we traveled through remote areas with limited access to services. Communication from the office, though efficient at times, was inconsistent, contradictory, and occasionally curt, which added uncertainty to an already anxious situation.

We deeply appreciate the eventual resolution, yet the episode revealed gaps in how unplanned guest issues are managed and communicated. A more empathetic, pragmatic approach with clear, unambiguous communication would make a significant difference.

In summary, this was a well-planned and memorable tour of a beautiful country, but customer care and communication during unforeseen challenges need refinement for BST to fully meet the high standards its reputation inspires.
