BHW SOLICITORS ENDERBY LEICESTERSHIRE DO NOT USE! My buyer used these awful ‘solicitors’ who do not know how to manage expectations of a chain and cannot provide simple updates to a chain. Particularly Conveyancer ‘ES’ and her assistant PG, when my solicitor was politely asking for updates from them, their response would be “how long is a piece of string” and proceed to laugh. This was highly unprofessional. This solicitor cost me £500 in removal costs as we had email stating they were ready to complete and would not exchange until day of completion causing an unwavering amount of stress and anxiety on what was supposed to be a happy day. Removal van was packed up, my solicitor was constantly ringing them for an update and Conveyancer ‘ES’ was avoiding our calls. Only then did Partner from BHW at the firm step in to ring my solicitors and state “if I knew completion had been suggested then I would’ve advised against it as they were awaiting something from their lender still”. The Partner now agreeing that Conveyancer ES was incapable in her job and did not manage our expectations. They did not want to provide a gesture for this even though they admitted they shouldn’t have advised they weren’t ready to complete. Shocking customer service and no empathy as human beings!!

The firm was instructed to register a restriction on a residential property urgently three months ago. But over two months later, it was still pending. We had to move our instruction to another firm to avoid further detrimental delay. BHW failed to send back all the documents causing us further inconvenience, stress and detriment.
Don't touch the firm even with a 10 meter barge pole.

I foolishly used BHW on recommendation of estate agent. They could not answer the simplest of questions - for example whose ID they needed when I was selling with a Power of Attorney. They insisted on me posting original documents (when certified copies should suffice). And when they could no longer act, because they don’t have a probate department, and they couldn’t answer questions about who their client now was, they charged me outrageously high abortive costs, and hounded me for payment whilst I was trying to arrange my father’s funeral. I really thought this sort of High Street Hideousness had stopped. The type of firm which gives the profession a bad name.

I recently used them for conveyancing and when the market took a downturn we ceased looking to sell. They tried to charge abortive costs and when challenged and threatened with the Ombudsman refunded monies paid. I invoked their complaints procedure, which was handled by a Partner who did not listen to the complaint and kept repeatedly referring to their abortive costs policy (a bit "Computer says no"). Their complaints procedure is flawed as once the Partner has made their decision and this has been rejected they can then review their own decision! Interestingly, at no point did anyone pick the phone up to speak to me to discuss why I was unhappy with their services - this speaks volumes. Next stop is the Ombudsman
