I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience fully deserves it.

I placed an order in April for items clearly listed as “in stock”, expecting a normal delivery timeframe (2–3 weeks). Instead, months went by with no shipment, no proactive communication, and no transparency whatsoever. I had to repeatedly chase Boardgamegeneral's owner just to get basic updates.

Only after significant delays did the seller respond, claiming they were waiting for stock, completely contradicting the original listing. By that point, the order had already lost its purpose (it was time-sensitive), and I had no choice but to purchase the same items elsewhere, at a slightly higher price.

The refund process was just as frustrating. Despite confirming it would be processed, I was again left waiting with no follow-up and had to chase multiple times before any action was taken.

Eventually, I did receive the refund, but only after an unnecessarily long, stressful, and avoidable process.

Key issues:
Items advertised as “in stock” were not actually available
Months of delay with no delivery
Extremely poor and reactive communication
Refund only processed after repeated follow-ups

This is not a one-off inconvenience from what is verifiable in other reviews, this is a pattern of poor business practice. Buyers should not have to chase a seller for months to either receive their order or get their money back.

I strongly advise others to think twice before ordering from this store.

I have read allot of reviews and negative feedback, and would like to share my experience so far.

I have had 3 orders so far, where 2 were fulfilled normally. Ordered a third time this October and got a mail that there was an item they could not find.
Whichever item should have been in stock in the warehouse, and he would personally take care of it.

Since then I have received:

- No reponse to multiple replies and emails
- No response to calls
- No reponse to Whatsapp
- No response to BGG messages
- No response to the Paypal dispute

I think I have been patient enough as a costumer, and filed a dispute with Paypal, considering the lack of professionalism and communication.

Altho the person is doing this as a side hustle and not as a full-time job (which is not advertised or aparent) I cannot understand the sheer audacity to be this lackluster in his operation.

Any communication or explanation would have made a world of difference, but I can't be expected to wait indefinitely.

I ordered two products more than half a year ago (!). None of them have arrived since then. None of them will I guess. Zero communication, zero answers to my emails, also zero answer to my refund request... It's a SCAM.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS GUY ONLINE!!!

I have ordered one board game and 2 months have passed while it has not yet arrived and I doubt it ever will. He is not answering my emails as well, even though i sent him quite a few.

This really is no way to run a store. I'm writing this to let people know to be careful when dealing with him.

Ordered twice via internet. First time no issues, second time delays upon delays. He stopped answering emails but after two months he finally shipped. One product was missing and he refused to answer our emails about this. So we got scammed by this charlatan.

Please avoid! This is one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever had in online-shopping.

I had ordered several paints. Out of 8, 2 were delivered, but 100% of the order-value was charged in advance, including shipping-costs.

There was no information about this, no question on how to proceed and whether I want to take the partial order and of course there was no refund.

I tried to contact them via e-mail several times. I tried to call them several times. There was no response, so I had to create a paypal-buyer-protection request. After weeks and building up pressure, they responded and offered to just refund the undelivered items, but of course charge full shipping-costs. As the paints I was really after were not included, I am unable to accept this and it clearly isn't a solution that benefits the customer.

There was no apology or acknowledgement what went wrong. They are very fine with it, as „sometimes things go wrong“. Confronting them with bad reviews from other customers they claim that it is just biased. Positive experiences are never communicated. So agian, no need to change.

To me it is very clear, that with such an attitude, you cannot expect things to change or a positive overall-experience.

Furthermore, they offer 3D Prints for use in Battletech Catalyst Labs Games, which are very difficult to identify. They claim, they are just a reseller, so it’s also not their problem. No need to change.

There are many good sellers out there, move somewhere else and avoid this one for many weeks of trouble.

Ordered The Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle-Earth – Spreading War Expansion and a few other things. The box was dented and scratched. Wrapped in clingwarp. To top it of it had broken minis in it.
Have tried to contact them for three weeks without any response. Got some of the money back from Paypal at least but still not response from the store. Would avoid them.

Ik schrik een beetje van alle negatieve beoordelingen en ervaringen die ik hier lees. Mijn ervaring is geheel anders. Het is mijn favoriete wargame winkel. Uitstekend aanbod en eerlijke prijzen. Ook verloopt de communicatie altijd prima (via mail). Zelfs toen ik spijt kreeg van een bestelling. Zonder gedoe kreeg ik in dezelfde week mijn geld terug. Kortom voor mij 5 sterren welverdiend.

Schaamteloos volk, besteld, betaald, lulverhaal over levering van goedkoopste item wat de hele bestelling in de wacht zou houden, nooit meer wat gehoord. Wordt volledig genegeerd. Ordinaire dief dus.

Verkeerd item geleverd ... Verscheidene emails gestuurd. Nooit geen reactie.

Usually I am satisfied with this store because of the good selection and correct prices. I have ordered from them several times in the past.

However, communication sometimes goes wrong. At times it takes weeks (7 weeks at the moment of this writing and still no reply) to respond to emails. This is not good, especially when your order is not shipped without any reason. However, the ordered items were in stock. I will think twice before ordering again.

I tried contacting them via Facebook and Messenger... no replies either.

Boardgamegeneral is not a trustworthy shop anymore.

Besteld en betaald. Alleen bevestiging gekregen van bestelling en dat er bericht zou komen als betaling binnen zou zijn.
Nooit meer iets vernomen. Meerdere keren contact gezocht via mail en BGG maar nul reactie.
Riekt naar oplichting. Ga zeker nooit meer iets bestellen en iedereen dit adviseren. Komt een dag dat we op zelfde boardspel event zijn en dan moet ik mijn recht (geld) daar maar halen want mailen heeft geen zin. 1 ster is eigenlijk nog 1 teveel.

Hoewel de website misschien een beetje onbetrouwbaar was heb ik afgesproken om bij de winkel zelf mijn spelletje te halen en dit verliep allemaal voorspoedig. Vriendelijke service. Goede prijs. Volgende keer de website nogmaals proberen.

Ordered and received the game within a week (UK) as promised. Problem is, it's the wrong game. I have had no response to either of my emails.....

Day 4.. another email & no response from BGG...

Nov 16 - received a response to tell me they sent the wrong game. Duh? Asked when are they going to resolve it and guess what.... nowt heard back.

No indication, inclination or urgency to resolve the issue nor refund me my monies from Tom & Co at BGG Eu - take my word don't use them they are robbing frauds.

Snelle verzending, goed verpakt en voordelig geprijsd.

Unreliable. Poor communication and customer service.
It's a pity because prices and items (those really avaiable) were quite good.

Heb het spel steeds ter plaatse afgehaald en kan niets zeggen over verzendingen.

Stock vermelding is soms wat verwarrend( on stock en tevens "pre order"), dus best mail of telefoon om stock status te laten bevestigen.
Na een eerste spel gekocht te hebben dat nog moeilijk vindbaar was een tweede gekocht met zelfde service.
Ik ben best tevreden van deze handelaar.

bestelling bleek niet meer te verkrijgen, gevraagd voor een refund, ging geen probleem zijn. Uiteraard niet , weken ,maanden zitten mailen voor een antwoord,niets, berichten en posten op z'n facebook pagina idem , tot ik me op aanwezig zette op één van z'n events die hij organiseerde waar ik dan vermeldde dat ik hardhandig m'n geld zou terugnemen met copies van de mails die ik zond waarbij hij plots niet meer reageerde. Toen wist hij me plots heel vlug te vertellen dat hij direct zou storten , nooit geen uitleg hoe of wat , geen excuses, maar soit, had het wel eindelijk terug, alsook bergen mails van mensen die in hetzelfde schuitje zaten.

EDIT: Na enkele keren gestopt met bestellen bij boardgamegeneral. Prijzen zijn goed (ook al zijn ze ondertussen bij andere websites lager of even laag voor betere service), maar de stock is zelden up-to-date, waardoor je vaak teleurgesteld wordt door items die uitverkocht zijn met alle gevolgen en mails van dien om geld te laten terug storen (5% korting bij betaling via overschrijving)
Mijn advies: best fysiek in zijn winkel langsgaan, zo heb je je spel onmiddellijk op zak net als de korting van 5% bij cash betaling.

Zeer vriendelijke man. Vragen over verschillende bordspellen worden vriendelijk beantwoord en duidelijk uitgelegd.
