BOQ has become an absolute joke

BOQ has become an absolute joke. They "fixed" a system that didn't need fixing, and now I can't even access my own money on weekends. They put credit cards on their own app which is glitchy at best and needs all these different types of verification which has just over complicated something that should be simple. If this isn't fixed soon, I'll be closing all my accounts and going back to Commonwealth. I definitely do not recommend!!

The Worst Customer Service I have ever encounted

I worked for this Bank when it based itself on strong customer service however certainly not the case now. Have wasted over an hour on hold at their call centre. Wrote several emails which weren't responded to for weeks and only after sending more emails. They sent me a complaint reference number but actioned it no further. I've had enough. Going elsewhere can't waste any more time.
Finally can I just say that it is hard to believe this organisation is part of the regulated banking system in Australia. Someone is definitely asleep at the wheel

BOQ the disaster Bank

always issues either online or in the branch systems not working internet not working just ongoing dramas.
we are looking to move to another bank with our 3 loans and mortgages.

Do not recommend

Terrible customer service. Branches never answer the phone, long waits on main phone line..if they answer at all. Transfers from one Boq account customer to another can take overnight. Forget about sending or receiving money quickly… daughter sent me $ on Fri… Monday 9:30am… still waiting for bank to do it. This is known accounts. Terrible online banking. What was once a bank that offered a better customer experience than the big banks, now is horrendous, slow, inefficient and outdated. We are changing !

Disgusting customer service

Disgusting customer service. Actually no customer service.
Can not access credit card rewards. Unanswered phone calls. Unresponsive emails.
Adelaide BOQ could not assist. Can not open myBOQ app as it will not accept my phone number that I have held for 20 yrs.
BOQ service used to be the best. Newtown branch in Sydney was outstanding. BOQ closed the branch.
Absolutely disgusting service at the moment all round. I think they are about to lose many, many loyal customers.

I have never seen a worse display of…

I have never seen a worse display of customer service. I emailed the bank via their secure system 19 Dec complaining I could not access my money nor pay money to my credit card to allow me to use that. I filed a formal complaint via their complaint system which has gone unanswered and have not had a response. I am now contacting AFCA as I can not even transfer money from my account because they have cancelled my BOQ Secure access. DO NOT BANK WITH THEM EVER!!!!

AWFUL customer service

AWFUL customer service! Locked out of a simple saver account despite all other accounts accessible. The contact messenger app is never live and wait times to talk to an overseas operator to get cut off mid call. After reading lots of similar slaying recent reviews I’m anxious banking with BOQ now and will look to close down my accounts. Literally cannot access our money!

BOQ phone service good luck

Try contacting BOQ by phone it's impossible. Online service been declining for a while but takes so long yesterday was 45 mins waiting i gave up. Today only 15 mins as called early + another 15 mins to close an account. Then asked 2 weird questions about joint account holder (never had one) and to confirm info from a different account that I wasn't closing. Sorry BOQ off to another bank shortly.

The migration to the digital platform a disaster

The migration to the digital platform has been a disaster. Used the MyBOQ app for the past few years and then on the 24/11/2025 it all stopped working cannot access accounts, the bank has multiple profiles of me that are not linked and now given a resolution date of sometime in 2026. In this era of digital platforms has a 2000’s feel about their technology.

Hard to fathom how BoQ's new systems…

Hard to fathom how BoQ's new systems even got voted through! Are they that out of touch? I now have to use 2 different BoQ apps to access all of my accounts, I have a cash business and can no longer pay cash into my BoQ credit card at any BoQ branch, they now require me to go to the post office! Isn't that how we payed our bills over 20 years ago? I'm surprised I have to say this to a big business that wasn't already told to you by someone getting paid much more than me, but if your banks name is on the credit cards you supply then YOU are responsible for upholding the services connected to it!! You obviously took the money when offselling that part of your business, do the right thing and allow payments in your branch and have 1 app with all of your accounts otherwise remove credit cards altogether from your business.
I'm sure you tell yourselves that there will be a transition period where customers get angry and will settle down but expecting customers to put up with this garbage is an insult!! I will paying off my credit card and closing all my accounts with Boq .....30 year customer

Changes to the BOQ internet Banking

Recent changes to the BOQ internet banking mean that the BOQ credit card is managed separately by NAB, not BOQ. They can only directly support the accounts.

BOQ "For us, successful banking is all about building relationships and understanding our customers' needs". Then BOQ, you are not successful. The people making the decisions need to experience the changes they make - over 1.5 hours to confirm if payments were being received.

Physical branch has no access either.

BOQ has been one of the most…

BOQ has been one of the most distressing and disappointing experiences I’ve ever had with a bank.

What I was promised did not match what was delivered. What was communicated did not align with what actually happened. And when things went wrong, the support I expected simply wasn’t there.

At a time when clarity, consistency and basic accountability mattered most, BOQ offered confusion, delays and shifting explanations. I was left chasing answers, repeating myself, and feeling like my situation was treated as an inconvenience rather than a responsibility.

Banks trade on trust. On stability. On the idea that when things are complex or stressful, they will act with professionalism and care. BOQ failed on all of that.

The branding talks about values, people and support. My experience was the opposite. I felt unheard, dismissed and left carrying the emotional and practical fallout of their failures. No ownership. No urgency. No genuine attempt to make things right.

This wasn’t a small hiccup. It was an experience that caused real stress and real impact. And what’s most frustrating is that it didn’t need to be this way.

I would strongly caution anyone considering BOQ to think carefully before placing their trust there. Based on my experience, this is not a bank that shows up when it matters, and the image they project does not reflect the reality I lived through.

Trust, once broken, is very hard to rebuild. BOQ has a long way to go.

New System not working! Impossible!

Sad! These new changes just impossible to deal with! Cannot even transfer money from account to credit card. Now credit card not talking to QuickBooks. Not ever going to apparently.. Cannot even calculate the hrs spent last few weeks!
Great staff in Ballina branch! But after 25yrs of loyalty I am being forced to look elsewhere for simpler systems!

The bank has left me stranded in a…

The bank has left me stranded in a foreign country for the 4th time in 2 years. This time they seem to be even worse.
Im now in rural bolivia and 5 days without money and owing money to people in the town who are starting to get upset with my inability to pay.
I have tens of thousands locked in an account that BOQ refuses to allow me to access and have shown zero interest in helping me, i have spent nearly 10 hours on the phone either on call waiting or basically being told that they wont help me.
The people that run this bank need to be prosecuted for their dereliction of their duty of care to their customers, its absolutely criminal that they would put someone in this position.

5 local branches closed down.long distance to Melb.By elderly.
Had I.D but no App. Sent by BOQ to Telstra long walk .in city.
Divulged all .withdraw large transfer.
Never honoured by BOQ.return again
5 hrs in bank.Still where is money?
Elder abuse.Should accept I.D.repirted to human rights commission ...elder abuse .not all elderly have an I phone

4 hours for a chatbot to respond is just one of many problems with BoQ. This is the worst bank ive ever been with. Staff in branch are fantastic but cant override the rubbish processing and terrible on line service. We paid our credit card early but we couldn't just transfer between accounts and now it looks like we are overdue,instead if paid in full.You need to pay BoQs credit card via Bpay, even though your other accounts are with BoQ. They have added an extra step instead of simplifying with an upgrade. Heads should roll but they will probably get their bonus and be promoted. Congratulations BoQ for destroying a good ( not great) brand.

Sorry that I unable to give negative stars. Been with BOQ for about 40 years. Previous to this change I could access my credit card balance on the BOQ classic web site. Now it is gone I can't access it anywhere. My myboq web page has been temporally restricted and after two requests to give me access again nothing has happened. After phoning and 50 minutes on hold I was assured it would be fixed but it wasn't. A week later I phoned again and after 45 minutes someone answered and put me on hold and never returned after another 20 minutes. Went to the branch and they are absolutely useless with this. As I type this I have been on hold for another 25 minutes. Option is to change bank as I can't complain about the service at BOQ because there is NO SERVICE at BOQ.
