Mostly good experiences, but one serious failure that caused financial loss and frustration
We’ve used Radio Cabs Brighton for six out-of-town journeys in recent weeks. Five of these were excellent – taxis arrived on time, text messages gave clear updates showing the driver’s location, and the drivers were friendly and professional. We felt safe on those trips.
Unfortunately, our most recent experience was disappointing. We had a pre-paid, pre-booked journey from out of town which simply never turned up. When we called, we were given conflicting explanations, first that there had been an accident, then later it transpired that the issue was due to pre-planned road closures/road works. Most importantly, the company failed to notify us of the cancellation. They claimed they had tried to get in touch earlier in the day, but but we received no missed calls or texts.
Because of the lack of communication, we were left stranded and ended up losing £50 (net) that could have been avoided with just a few minutes’ warning. It then took three days to get the pre-payment refunded to the credit card.
Overall, when the service works, it’s excellent. But this failure in reliability and communication left us very hesitant to trust them for important journeys.
