Sales guy LUKE FORTUNE

Brought a BMW 1 series from them 5 months ago. After bad customer service and messing us around continuously it finally got delivered in the dark to our house by a driver after telling us it would come on a low loader.

It was filthy inside and out , had low tyre pressure and no diesel after telling us because of the customer service it would come with a full tank. Had more scratches all over the car and alloys than originally shown.

On further inspection in day light and upon driving the vehicle it made an awful noise and had a big oil leak.

We took it to a friend who is a mechanic for them to then tell us it had illegal springs on, the exhaust flexi and DPF filter was hanging off and the underneath of the car has trays on which are covered in oil from front to back of the car.

Upon texting Luke he agreed that if we got the springs and that done they would re instate the money. Not trusting a word they said we phoned the finance company to get them to deal with it. They said to get the work done and they would claim our money back for us. So we got the springs done as we have three childrens safety to think about and sent all documents to Luke and the finance company. Baring in mind the car went for an MOT and passed (how is beyond me) before we got it so we could’ve got the MOT garage in trouble but Luke begged us not too and that he would sort this.

We then got the exhaust flexi and DPF filter done as the car was draining fuel and making so much noise we was worried more damage would be done if we didn’t as Luke and Finance company were doing nothing fast. We have all invoices Etc which have been sent to Luke and finance company.

Finance company finally tell us they’ve spoken to car city and to take the car back to them for them for them to give us a Courtesy car while they fix the oil leak and drive train.

I drove with 2 of our children yesterday from Essex to drop off the car and collect a courtesy car. Baring in mind they knew I was coming and my ETA when I arrived they knew nothing about me , our car or the problems with the car and tried to spin me some 💩 that one of their staff had mental issues and doesn’t know what he’s saying from one person to the next and that Luke was in hospital. At first they tried to give me a Peugeot 207 3 door old model baring in mind we stated we needed a car big enough for our family and iso fix for the car seats!! After huffing and puffing they went to their other compound and got a Nissan Quahqai I thought nice we are getting somewhere I then sat and spoke to Dave telling him all our issues etc he said about 3 words and told me we had warranty on the car 6 months which is due to run out next month (which Luke told us we didn’t have) and that I needn’t have drove all this way and could have taken it to a local garage!! However I was there now and said they would be fixing the problem. So he takes my license and does the paper work for this quashqai to then give me the keys and I swap over car seats etc but as I’m doing so the quashqai is filthy inside , has rips everywhere , ceiling hanging off , massive hole where key would’ve gone but it’s push button start , gear stick leather bit missing and then a rear light smashed so I refused to take it and left in the BMW as I was getting no where. Further to my chat with Dave realised that Luke had scammed £150 from us and pocketed it himself so we now have that to deal with on top of everything else!!!

Tried to contact finance company yesterday with no avail to what had happened. So my partner drives up there today after telling them yesterday he would be back and expects a car in good condition as a courtesy car.

He gets there and everywhere is locked up so he walks round the back where there is a mechanic who calls Dave who says he’s at the compound and will be back in 10 knowing what my partners ETA was! He waits and then Luke rolls up so he tells him it’s unacceptable etc he says he will speak with his boss and then Dave rolls up so he starts telling Dave the problems etc and all he says is I don’t have to give you a car, I’ve changed the car once already and I’m giving you an £11k car (£10,490 to be honest) to drive away in the same price as ours was but in poor condition. So he’s now left in a mondeo 61 plate and apparently they’re going to fix it but I have no faith in them and will be going to Citizens advice, trading standards and small claims court

PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF MONEY AND STRESS DO NOT BUY FROM HERE THEY NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN !!!!

Wonderful experience. From start to finish the sales staff was up front and honest. They walked me through the process and made everything quick and easy. Found my car and was able to finish the purchase quickly and easily. Recommend the South Bend location 100%.

I highly recommend people to not go to…

I highly recommend people to not go to car city, got a 2014 Dodge Avenger early February the sales man told us there was nothing wrong with the car that it went through there shop and nothing was wrong with it. We took his word for it and trusted him. Now a few weeks later I got my brake lights going off, my check engine light is going off, my coolant light is going off, my breaks are slipping, as if I’m driving on ice but it’s doing that on dry land & I need new wheel bearings, new rotors & I also have a blown head gasket. It’s unbelievable how many things are wrong with the car. On top of everything they only want to cover the wheel bearings and one other thing. Everything else I have to pay out of pocket for, which is completely crazy considering I just got the car & the sales man said there was nothing wrong with it. I went there because I was already in a bad situation & they just put me in a worse one.

This is my 3rd time going to Car City…

This is my 3rd time going to Car City for a vehicle. I had my first car for 7 years (an HHR) and would probably still be driving it if it wasn’t in a accident. Went back 3 months ago and got a Rogue….I love love love it. Both of those were bought in Lansing…..Today my daughter bought her first car ( all by herself ) from the Cadillac office….and let me tell you Barry is the most awesome person everrrrrrr. I wish more of your salesmen were like him and Tyler !!!! I really saddens me to read the horrible reviews. ITS A USED CAR…..there potential for anything to go wrong. If handled properly I’m sure something could have been done….I must also give a HUGE shout out to Orbit Leasing….Jennifer and Toni are the best EVERRRRRR! They will work with threw anything you need. Lord know they have for me a bunch of times. Only bad thing I have to say the Lansing branch is less than desirable….that’s why we went to Cadillac from Jackson. Thank you again Car City, Barry, Jennifer, Toni, and Steve ( who sold me my Rogue but no longer in Lansing office ). Barry needs an award a raise …..something. Thank you again for taking care of my daughter today.

I will never buy here again bought a car took it to the ship 13 days later for a ticking noise was notified that it had bad lifters that it needs to be fixed it wi only get worse and damage other things a warranty claim was submitted and it was denied because car still runs even though the repair shop said it should not be drove they the warranty company claims that car city should fix it because it was like that when they sold it

Let me start out by saying this is my fault for not reading all of my paper work. That way no one can say it’s my fault and blah blah blah… it is my fault. But if your reading this and are going to get a car through car city DO NOT DO IT. You will pay almost twice what the car is worth in your payments. Then at the end if you want to buy it it is another $3000 dollars. After paying as much as you have. And if at the end you don’t want to buy it u better hope u didn’t put more then 20000 miles a year on it. Cause then you owe. Which I know how leases work. But I have leased cars from Chevy dealerships and not only is it in your lease the salesman explains all this to you. They do not explain it to you. I was in aware of any of that. Again my fault I know.. but they are there to get u into the car and out as fast as they can. They do not explain nothing to you. So I am trying to save someone from making the same mistake I did.. DO NOT GET A CAR THROUGH HERE. They are a rip off. They charge you ungodly per month and then if you want to buy it you owe them even more… so you will pay almost twice the vehicles worth. And the salesman at the Lansing Michigan branch are a$$ holes they tried to sell me one vehicle for a certain price and I took it for a ride and it was banging and clanging in the front end. I told them if they fixed it I would buy it. They said to me “ that’s not how it works here” and laughed like I was crazy… so needless to say I kick myself in the butt for ever doing business with them… so I hope if ur thinking about getting a car through them and your reading this please take my advice and RUN DONT DO IT!!!

I am a 3 vehicle Car City Client. I have paid off 2 vehicles and went full term. Orbit Leasing is AWESOME and has helped me in times of difficulty. Car City of Battle Creek however lied to me regarding the service work that was performed on the 2013 Journey Crew I purchased. Like other reviews here, this vehicle straight off the lot was a death trap. The extended warranty does not cover parts that are defective and have not broken. Finding a reputable service center for $85/hour who wants to deal with the extended warranty is a needle in a haystack. My 2013 Journey came with new tires..yet Car City claims they have a 21 check point, and work on these vehicles to make them sellable. After going through the first set of new back tires they put on after only 2,000 miles, I had no clue what was wrong with my SUV until recently, when I was told by a technician that the lateral Tow Kick Control Arms are defective and need to be replaced. Car City would have known this before they added new tires to my vehicle, and chose not to replace the defective parts. I cannot drive this vehicle no more than 40 mph in any type of slippery conditions or the back end wants to come swinging around. My wife refuses to dry the vehicle siting its too dangerous. I have ordered parts, and will spend out of pocket once again to fix a vehicle that Car City should have repaired prior to it's sale. I will NEVER buy another vehicle again from them...NEVER. I feel they have lost my trust, and after reading bad reviews here, its only obvious they do not do what they advertise.

update...01/05/2022...Precision Claims will not honor a suspension part if it is not "broke" instead of defective. If you honor my "valued customer" status, you would fix the problem at no charge to me, since you sold me the vehicle with a defective part, and claim your 21 point check point would have caught this to begin with.

Car City will put you in a vehicle that will KILL YOU!!! Let me start by saying that I am a Disabled Veteran on a pension.
In April of this year,2021,I had gotten a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 2.4L from Grand Rapids Michigan Carcity lot delivered to Muskegon Michigan car lot. The driver had to notice the almost out of control shimmering death trap he had delivered.
So let me break it down for you...since April of this year 2021. I have had it in the Service Garage 4 times. Each time I came out of pocket. What had pushed me to the edge you ask? Tire blew while my FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR! It blew because the back aliment wore down the inner tire on both sides. I never knew, BUT CARCITY DID AND YET HANDED ME THE KEYS!!! Look,these are brand new tires and still look brand new,except the totally wore down inner tire that on both sides have exposed belts and thin rubber. CARCITY KNEW THIS!!! THEY PUT ME AND MY FAMILY IN THAT DEATH TRAP!!! After contacting Carcity and pretty much being told that I'm on my own on a vehicle that I pay close to $700.00 a month for. These are the kind of people that are monsters.
So if your thinking about signing with these people, I encourage you to please protect yourself and your family by not doing so. It's not worth it. Look elsewhere if you value the lives of your family. I almost lost mine...

We are sorry you are unsatisfied with your vehicle. According to our records, you have taken the vehicle in for several diagnoses and repairs at repair facilities of your choice. Our notes also indicate that you believe the repairs were not performed properly and are currently receiving service. We recommend you inquire from the repair facilities how they missed the back alignment that may have caused the tire issue.

The Vehicle Service company, Precision Claims, allows up to $85/hour in labor expenses and we hope your repair service provider can fix the mechanical issues you are experiencing. Again, we are saddened by the inconveniences and hope they are resolved with the repair facility of your choice.

We do not pull credit scores; however, we do look at your credit file for past and present vehicle histories. After reviewing the file, the leasing company might ask for more than $39 down. An increased down payment would reduce the monthly payment amount, hopefully setting our customers up for success throughout the entire lease. It was easy to deal with Car City

It was easy to deal with Car City. Jourdan was extremely knowledgeable and was a pleasure to deal with. Faysal who handled the paperwork was very accommodating. When we decided not to go with an extended warranty, Jourdan did not apply any extra pressure to get us to change our minds.
Both were more than happy to answer our many questions.
Highly recommend.

TERRIBLE… stuck and stranded far from home

TERRIBLE! My daughter purchased a vehicle the salesman/manager stated they only start their vehicles once a week and the car she was purchasing started a by little rough, so it needed a new battery, but all the fluids were checked and oil changed so she would be good for awhile. She went to this locations service provider and had to make an appointment so she did. Ironically they couldn’t get in for several days. She went to her appt at 9 am… at 6 pm they still hadn’t touched her vehicle and closed leaving my daughter without repair. The manager blamed my daughter because she couldn’t leave it there, knowing she needed a ride home and to pick up her 1 yr old. But offered my daughter gas money because she would have to come up a second time. The alternator was bad… the manager from the service provider that car City sent my daughter To stated to my daughter and I that they were never told about the car over heating or anything and informed her there was no coolant in it.
A few days later, the vehicle over heated, tranny skipping, power steering became bad, and wouldn’t run and left her stranded. The manager instructed my daughter to get it to car city so it can be looked at….I called and demanded car city to send a tow truck and the response from the manager/salesperson after telling him where the car was in this small town was 4 times was “I don’t know where that is I need a physical address and the key”. Minutes later I called back and after trying to tell him the requested info..he said a tow truck was on its way. This salesman/manager was rude, unprofessional, not helpful, sarcastic, demeaning, insultive and was caught telling lies several times my daughter wanted to return the car after the first week because it had nothing but problems since she trusted the salesman/manager and left the lot with it. She was told she could not return the vehicle . It took about 3 days to get a rental vehicle to my daughter, another salesman had her sign a paper just because “ you can’t get a service car unless your car was i. The shop, and yours is”. The day after she got the service car , the wheel bearing went out, the tranny stuck in 1st gear and she is stranded with her son 300 miles from home on a Saturday morning 930am . Called the salesman/manager and he was no help… gave a number to the warranty manger Alan and here she is, still waiting on a return call, its Sunday … car won’t start and car city just left her ….I have made contact with the sales person/manager several times, I’ve even called and spoke to managers from other stores…. No help from any of them…. My lawyer is going to have fun with this.

Over $600 a month for a $6000 dollar vehicle 🚗 enough said. My fiancé got a car with them and she realized she was getting completely ripped off so we left that piece of crap in their Parking lot now they want to garnish her wages. Good luck chuck!!

Been with Car City since 2017.

Been with Car City since November 2017.
Need different vehicle, so traded in one for caravan. June 11,2021.
Broke down and was stranded June 18th. Now van needs$850 work and it's in the shop.
Perhaps mechanics and dealers need to really know the cars before putting a family in one. In 2017 we first picked a van we took back there very next day and got a Road worthy van. Loved that one.
But 2 out of 3 vans have not been ready for the road off that lot. Not sure what i should do.

They help me when nobody else would. Brandon did a great job getting me the truck I wanted.The $39 dollars down was a great help as my funds were low. I'am driving now instead of walking. Thank you you Car City for helping me when I really needed it.
