In two words “awful and stressful”. After signing up with Chadwick Lawrence (Wakefield). The initial communications were ok but as we approached exchange of contracts the communications became very much one sided.
The vendors requested an exchange of contract date which was passed through to us by our conveyancer. We agreed to that date, but the day before exchange of contracts date, we hadn’t heard anything from our Conveyancer, so I tried to ring him , but was told that he was on holiday. During the week following his return, I tried to call him 30 times, either directly or via their switch board (where they said that they would ask him to ring me back), but got no response from him.
We wrote a letter of complaint covering a number of issues to his supervisor and got no response from her. As a last resort, we then met with the vendors along with the vendors conveyancer (by phone) and agreed another exchange date and I asked the Vendor’s Conveyancer to contact our Conveyancer (as Conveyancer to Conveyancer communication might be more effective).
We finally exchanged contracts but our Conveyancer made an error filling out the TR1 document. We told him about this error and he resent us the TR1 document with the same mistake. We then typed out our own TR1 document with the correct information and returned it to him.
If someone from Chadwick Lawrence reads this please don’t ask me to write a complaint as we had already done this and got no response.

Rarely answer calls or reply to emails, communication has been a total nightmare and still ongoing - beware going with this company.

She approached a very difficult and emotionally fragile situation with genuine understanding and sensitivity, while still giving me clear, grounded advice about the practicalities ahead. I came away from our initial conversation feeling heard, reassured. Very grateful for her advice.

Awful experience so far! Using them to buy our first home. No one answers any emails or picks up the phone! Doesn’t let you know that they haven’t had answers to enquires months ago and doesn’t seem to chase anything up! Had to do all the chasing for them to still be ignored! They are delaying us from being able to move and do not seem to care!

For a simple deed title transfer transaction which should have taken 3-4 months, which ended up taking almost a year was simply unacceptable. The communication with Ben was terrible, having to frequently chase and chase for updates and information with sometimes weeks between any response. The only element of their communication that actually worked was their auto-response. At no time did I feel like a valued customer, nor did I feel like they earned a fraction of what they charged for their “service”. They are by far the worst conveyancing team that I have ever had the displeasure to deal with.

Dear sirs , I have been trying to liase with there conveyancing dept regards a house purchase , I have obtained the permission from there client, to act for them in this purchase and to discuss the position .Over the last 3 months I have tried to contact them directly on 9 different ocassions to speak to them, regards a querie, they raised, which is preventing the sale of the property . Each time I HAVE HAD NO RESPONSE, BUT REQUESTED TO LEAVE A MESSAGE, BUT ON EACH CASE NEVER HAD A REPLY . surely this is not acceptable behavior , Buyers be aware !!!!!

Great service from Rhianne and Kiona at Chadwick Lawrence. Following a change of case handler halfway through the process, they got things back on track really quickly and kept us informed throughout. As first time buyers this was really important to us. Highly recommended.

Effective communication, and job done in prescribed time.

My conveyancer Bryony Macfarland from the Yorkshire branch of Chadwick Laurence was fantastic. She had been very patient as I had a few issues with my staircasing which postponed the case by a few months.

Bryony replied to emails very promptly, also gave excellent explainations of things I didn't understand. I would happily use Bryony again for my next house move. The supporting team around Bryony were also very good.

From start to finish, I found Chadwick Lawrence to be efficient, providing ample information and guidance to enable me to complete my Transfer of Equity.

Complete waste of time, everything was a long arduous process and in the end they weren’t able to complete my request and I had to request a refund.

Even with less than 7 days notice from help to buy Sara pulled out all the stops to ensure completion happened to avoid me having to renew my valuation saving £150, can’t recommend enough
