I’ve just started on this fabulous course. I’ve come from a health care background and I ignorantly assumed I would not learn much. I’ve only been studying for 2 months but so far, I’ve learnt so much already, I’m thoroughly impressed and enjoying this great course! We have a fantastic tutor, with constant access online with help for all students. I really have done the right thing booking this course and studying with chrysalis. Highly recommend anyone considering a career change or embarking on a new journey to study. I felt immediately at ease with our tutor and the support for students seems second to none. After completing the Level 5 Diploma in Pluralistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling, I chose to continue with the Chrysalis Level 5 Diploma in Advanced Counselling Practice (Pluralistic Approach) - and it was one of the most enriching experiences of my professional journey.
This course is not only ideal for qualified practitioners aiming to progress to Column B of SCoPEd, but also for those seeking to deepen their understanding of ethical dilemmas, legal frameworks, and advanced therapeutic techniques. Chrysalis classes themselves have been okay, quite lengthy and hypnotherapy year was not needed

Many students find that Year 1 allows them to gain income as a qualified hypnotherapist which can help while completing counsellor training. I can appreciate your comments on this though, and wish you luck with your next steps towards your career in counselling.

I’ve really enjoyed the experience of learning psychotherapy through Crysalis. My tutor, Andrew Brown is fantastic, patient, knowledgeable and helps bring the subject to life.
I feel that the course needs more depth and we need more time exploring the subject matter. We can spend too much time talking about the course work than the subject itself.
I also don’t enjoy the online courses and would prefer that all lessons are classroom based. I feel that my learning would be better if the classes were face to face.

I am so pleased to hear the comments about your tutor Andy, these seem to echo those of his other students which is a testament to his expertise at being a Chrysalis tutor and I will be sure to pass this on to him.
Thank you for your comments about the course content, Chrysalis have just completed a course review, where we have focused on improving course content and how it is delivered. We are always more than happy to take on board constructive feedback so that we can improve.
In terms of the online courses, Chrysalis deliver a 'blended approach', meaning a mixture of online and face to face classes. Our 70/30 split of face to face and online classes reflect the counselling profession which has seen a sharp rise towards online delivery since the the COVID pandemic, as we aim to qualify capable, competent therapists. I can appreciate though that like many of our students, you have favoured one method over the other.

Great tutor
I feel the chrysalis counselling course could’ve been structured differently and could’ve offered more depth and less repetition. However, my tutor Andy has been excellent - he is reliable, gives good and constructive feedback on assignments and in class, and we all enjoy his methods of teaching.

Andrew Brown is a great teacher
Andrew Brown is a great teacher and I’m really happy with the in-person lessons because there are a lot of practical exercises and he gives feedback.
The course sometimes lacks depth and it is sometimes repetitive. Also level 3 being hypnotherapy wasn’t the best use of our time considering we didn’t want to be hypnotherapists, however there was no option of not doing it.

With regards to Level 3, studying and qualifying from the year allows students the opportunity to practice as a qualified hypnotherapist and gain income while continuing their studies with Chrysalis to become a qualified counsellor. I can appreciate that for some students they may wish to follow a different path to this and this is something Chrysalis have been considering as we look to improve our course portfolio for future students.

Chrysalis is a great course provider, the online material is great, student support is accessible and great and the tutor Andy is brilliant- supportive, encouraging, knowledgeable. My only bit of feedback is that the courses available via NCPS which are often advertised by email to students are extremely expensive and inaccessible for many students at time in my opinion.

Nick Matthew’s a great tutor! Great chrysalis tutor and the support for our course so far has been great!
At the start, we had a different tutor and the experience was ok but something felt missing. We actually got a new tutor Nick Matthew’s and he’s really great. The whole experience has changed and the atmosphere has really improved. I feel comfortable going to him and receive fast responses, when struggling or needing some support with course work. He’s been my year 1 tutor, and sadly won’t be having him for the next 2 years but this would be great if we could continue having the same tutor, as Nick is amazing. Can’t wait to continue my studies with chrysalis.

Nick has completely changed my experience for the better
Nick has been excellent for us since he became our tutor in the middle of year 1. He has reassured us and made us feel so much more confident in what we are doing. I feel as though I am able to ask any questions that I need and that it will get answered thoroughly.

The hypnotherapy class is good. The class covered a variety of topics and was extremely practical.

The course and the tutor (Andrew Brown) has been very consistent and supportive.
The course resources might need updating.
Also - the access to course resources only when assignment is submitted can be frustrating and unhelpful when extension is requested. Maybe access should be granted a week before the next lesson regardless of submission being made.

Chrysalis stepped in when our previous course combusted. We were treated kindly and sympathetically. Without Rhianan and Chrysalis as a whole, we would never have been able to complete our studies, and gain our qualifications!
