CIMB Philippines - Hands OFF
We were customers of CIMB Philippines for over six years. Last year, the bank introduced a new account verification process that turned into an extremely frustrating experience. The process lasted more than two months and involved dozens of emails, many of which addressed irrelevant or repetitive issues, with no clear coordination or resolution.
This year, we were subjected to the same lengthy and inefficient process again. Ultimately, CIMB closed our accounts without providing any explanation and pre-terminated several high-interest time deposits. Access to our funds was immediately blocked.
For nearly two months, we were completely cut off from our accounts. During this period, CIMB locked our funds, did not allow any payments or transfers, and provided no viable alternatives. As a result, we were unable to pay suppliers for an ongoing construction project and unable to support family obligations, causing serious financial and personal disruption.
We currently have a formal complaint filed with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) requesting an investigation into these practices.
Overall, our experience has been deeply disappointing. Customer support staff appeared inexperienced, there was no effective process control, and the handling of our case was highly unprofessional. Based on this experience, we cannot recommend CIMB Philippines.
Disappointing First Deposit Experience with CIMB
My first deposit experience with this bank was disappointing. I had an issue with my deposit and contacted their customer service, but they simply told me to wait another 3–6 business days without providing any clear reason. Deposits are supposed to be instant, and it’s not reasonable for customers to just wait without proper explanation.
