I have been extremely disappointed with my experience of Conveyancing Direct during my first-time purchase of a freehold property.

What initially appeared to be a straightforward purchase became increasingly frustrating due to the level of communication, delays and, ultimately, the additional charges appearing on the completion statement.

The overall conveyancing costs came to over twice the current national average for a freehold purchase, which I found extremely difficult to understand for what was, from my perspective, a relatively straightforward transaction.

What particularly concerned me was the way some transactions and administrative tasks appeared to be split into multiple separate charges. This gave me the impression that work which could reasonably have been treated as part of a single transaction was being broken down into individual fees, resulting in multiple charges being applied.

As a first-time buyer, I expected the costs and process to be explained clearly, particularly where additional fees were going to be incurred. Instead, I found myself having to go through the completion statement line by line to understand what I was actually being charged for.

I appreciate that some charges may be genuine and that conveyancing can involve additional work. However, I was left questioning whether all of these charges were clearly explained and disclosed to me at the outset.

Overall, I found the experience unnecessarily stressful and lacking in transparency. What should have been an exciting first property purchase became a frustrating experience.

Based on my experience, I would not use Conveyancing Direct again and would recommend that anyone considering using them obtains a very detailed breakdown of all potential additional fees before instructing them.

I have previously worked with Ali Hassan and found him to be very efficient. Despite the firm being more expensive, I decided to use the firm again based on my previous experience, as I value a smooth and efficient service more than the cost.

Unfortunately, my experience this time with Alex Tucker and Baljit Grewal has been very different. My lender sent them the mortgage offer, but it was only located a week later. I also sent them a relatively simple document to review, but despite several follow-ups, I received no response.

My case has now been with them for seven weeks, with no proper updates or clear progress on the portal. This has been extremely frustrating, as I have had very little visibility of what has been done, what is outstanding, or how my case is being handled.

Given my previous positive experience with the firm, I am particularly disappointed with the level of communication and service this time. I chose to use the firm again because I expected a professional, efficient and smooth experience, but this time very different.

Great experience with Dominique, who has been proactive and responsive. She made our experience as first time buyers as smooth and easy as possible!

Our Solicitor was called Ley and she was amazing. She was always by the phone for any queries, actively pursued required information and documents for the sale and would get in touch with us as soon as any updates were made. Very punctual, friendly, professional and helpful. 5 star service, would recommend!

I used these solicitors for sale of a property and the purchase of another. Both Harry and Dominique, who were my case officers, are fantastic and kind people.

They are prompt with updates and clear with expectations with what is needed and when.

Selling and moving house is stressful and difficult at the best of times, however, these two in particular made the whole process so much easier and smoother.

The company itself is also very good/competitive with prices. Compared to other solicitor services on the market, I must say for the service you receive, the cost is more than reasonable and one of the least expensive ones available.
