David Urquhart disaster Hogmanay break. Sure Hotel Aberdeen.
Break - Stonehaven Fireballing,. Hotel spotless and that's the end of the good news. No entertainment, Urquharts party had to use the "ballroom" for food not the restaurant. No decorations of any kind, no entertainment,no music, food was absolutely awful. Two very poor pasta choices and soup that looked like dishwater. Fireballing was fine. Back to the hotel after midnight, nothing to celebrate, nothing laid on again. We left the next morning as we refused to stay another night. We were lucky enough to have friends who had a car and who were also very glad to go. A couple were at reception when we left and they were trying to get a train or bus home too. Worst Hogmanay ever. On the 1st I believe the entertainment was Bingo!!!! I think Urquharts should be sorting this out as I know someone who went the same trip the year before and it was exactly the same. Not using Urquharts for this type of trip again.

We were at the Savoy in Blackpool for the Hogmanay break it was a total disaster at the bells it was to be a DJ.and disco it was the old organist that on the first night and he was playing old tunes from the big bands 1935 it was a total disaster and also it was karaoke and it was a shambles to on the first it was a hot and cold buffet for our meal they run out of chicken drumsticks half way through the buffet it was also a disaster

We are here now at the sure best west in Aberdeen it is absolutely diabolical no draught beer meal absolutely diabolical been on road since twelve pm got here at six first time with this company driver knows nothing don’t know what new year meal is going to be 48 people on bus and not the only one saying this the meals are two choices or nothing never mind your allergy to certain foods

For what we paid good value for money. Hotel staff excellent. Hotel dated but clean. Food ok and varied ( not good for vegetarians). Our first coach trip and majority of the coach were heavy drinkers, language wasn’t good at times even though there was a 12 year old on the bus! The driver was ok but the incessant 70s music was exhausting after 4 hours. His opening comments about the Rangers v Celtic game were supposed to be funny but very unprofessional. In the west of Scotland unfortunately keep your views to yourself when at work. We will maybe try a more expensive holiday next time To see if this is more our thing. There were some lovely people on the trip and did get chatting to a few but going to Inverness for the day and seeing it in the pub watching football says it all about many on the trip. In the end, we got what we paid a very reasonable 3 day break

Having just returned home from spending Christmas at the Waverley Hotel Great Yarmouth.
Our double room, 218 was spacious, clean, with walk shower, mattress springs needed a wee drop of oil 😂, but with a mattress cover, made it comfortable.
Hotel needed a little updating, but still warm and comfortable, food a
Was exceptional. All certainly good value for overall cost.
Our driver "Bill of (Pewsey in the vale) Coaches was brilliant, is experience shone through, and having once been a coach driver myself, I speak with experiance.

Have just returned from a 5 day trip to The Georgian Hollies Hotel, Blackpool.....don’t even think of going there, this is the worst experience of Hotel accommodation we have ever seen. Firstly we had a double room which you could hardly swing a cat in, had asked for a twin and was moved to one, firstly I would point out that the rooms are nothing like seen on the website. Floor in bathroom was filthy, two bath towels no hand towel or bath mat. Kettle was so dirty I had to clean it before making a cup of tea. Rooms were never looked at in 5 days, sink and toilet never cleaned, beds never made and no clean towels.....oh they did come in and empty the bins. Restaurant which is down very steep stairs, was always cold, breakfast was cold, sent it back and the next one as cold too, I’m talking eggs and bacon served on cold plate. Complained to the waitress and she said talk to the manager, everyone was complaining, could go on but just glad we are back home. Worst hotel ever!

went to blackpool for five day break it was totally spoilt by the couldn't care less driver who was rude unhelpful cut excursions short
even talked to his girlfriend on the trip mostly throughout
he was unapproachable and felt had to avoid him very poor social interaction and the

it seems the reason was this was next direct trip following one couple weeks prior was a stand it to original driver should not have taken it
people go away for stress free time
hotel was ok as were the staff didn't even see illuminations
As many people on the coach were going to complain we did but no response
change of venue because of october half term hols dates and difficult pick up points (our chosen one was cancelled to suit families needs)
Worse still our last holiday before my partner died this year

Went with my husband to the Garve Hotel for our anniversary
We had a great time.
Yes the hotel is old fashioned but spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and pillows.
Food was great value for money and good enough variety each night.
The trips were amazing.
The only thing i would say is there is no wifi and just basic tv channels.
Update these and it is more than adequate.
The coach driver we had, Wee Jimmy from Lewis was absolutely superb in his knowledge and great company in the evening.
He couldnt do enough and I hope we have the pleasure of going on another tour with him as driver.

Had my second trip with David Urquhart to Blackpool from the 7th-11th October the driver was great until the last day and started moaning about our suitcase because me and my mum were sharing a suitcase so it was heavy and he was moaning because the weight of the suitcase and said he wasn't going to lift it but he did apart from this he was fab the hotel wasn't great but the tour was fantastic . Highly rated

The price of the coach holidays are so reasonable. The hotels are certainly in the 1 to 2 star range but generally they are clean but tired and the food generous. I really do not understand people who complain when they have a holiday from Monday to Friday, breakfast and dinners included as well as a couple of trips and travel to and from their chosen spot. What in the world do you want for around £200 or less.

my husband and i have just returned from blackpool, with david urquhart cant fault them in anyway.from perth to blackpool we were greeted with a very friendly and cheery driver.coach was spotless and very comfortable. we were looked after and informed all the way there and back plus while we were on holiday,lovely days out to liverpool and southport which was very nice,mark was his name we couldnt have asked for a better driver ,and will certainly be back with david urqhart travel next year.

My wife and I plus two friends booked a holiday with David Urquhart travel to the Prince of Wales hotel in Southport the driver was friendly and helpful, the two women have mobility issues. The hotel overall clean, but the rooms and corridors were dull, dreary, dismal badly in need of brightening up with the carpet from a bygone age. The lift to the floors totally inadequate it had second lift but not visible. The food was awful for ex we one night had leek and potato soup but with no potatoes. We eventually ate out for two nights the reason was the food. We will never return to a hotel operated by Britannia Hotels they do not seem to care about the condition of there hotels.

Just returned from Torquay. I will never use David Urquart again, this was our first time, we expected basic for the money we paid, but the hotel was so dated, but we had a door that didn't open properly it was so hard to get our cases through, we told the owner, and we got he had to have them that tight because of a fire risk, no other hotel room had the problem, the toilet and shower was so small you could sit on the toilet with your feet in the shower,My pillow had fresh blood on it, plaster was falling from the ceiling, the telly was obsolete, and no WIFI signal, on the better side our Driver was great, the coach was comfortable and food was fantastic, The hotel the Ashley Court Hotel, should be avoided at all costs.

Just returned home from a lovely 5days 4nights holiday in Blackpool, staying at the Sheraton Hotel where we had a lovely stay. Our driver "John "was very nice and made our journey and day trips very entertaining. Would definately use company for other coach trips. Thankyou

Just returned from trip to Scarborough. Never again will I travel with this company. Took us 12 hours to get there. The coach was not a David Urquhart coach. We were cramped. The microphone didn’t work and there was no light in the toilet. Things only got worse when we arrived at the Grand Hotel. It was absolutely disgusting. On entering the hotel you were met by the smell of damp and must. The furniture was disgusting. Leather sofas with the leather peeling off in patches. The room we were given was horrible and dirty. You could not see out of the window for filth and the window sill was thick with black filth and the shower was disgusting. The room was freezing and no heating available. The food was absolutely disgusting. Only decent thing was toast in the morning and the ice cream. David Urquhart claim that all the hotels they use are all of their standard. If this is their standard then it leaves a lot to be desired. I had a cold when I arrived at the hotel. Two days later I was admitted to hospital in Scarborough being diagnosed with pneumonia. The damp in this hotel did not help my condition. Too late on looking on Trip Advisor we realised the very bad reviews this hotel got. David Urquhart have a duty of care to their customers and definitely should not be using this hovel of a hotel. It’s a disgrace.

Drink were very reasonable my wife enjoyed her glass of wine 🍷 at £3
A special mention for James the night porter as I don’t sleep 🛏 well he couldn’t have been any more helpful & last but not least a special mention for Jasmine our waitress
What a pleasant young lady & nothing was a problem 10 out of 10 Jasmine
Would certainly stay here again

Melville Hotel, Blackpool
(Our original hotel was The New Oxford)

At our pick-up point, Saltcoats Station, our coach driver was Caroline who was driving a Milligan’s Bus. Caroline greeted us with a lovely smile, introduced herself and asked our names, put our cases in the coach and proceeded to escort us to our seats. This carried through for all pick-ups. After every pick-up she informed all new passengers of the official law that seat belts must be used.
At the final pick-up, she formally welcomed us and thanked us for travelling with David Urquhart Tours and explained our route and comfort stops. After one said stop, we were informed of Hotel Change due to lifts not working in original hotel.
We duly arrived at Melville Hotel, we received a friendly welcome and keys to our rooms. We were not happy with our room. It was a family room, a single bed but the double bed was against a wall, not very good for an elderly person with heart problems to climb up and crawl over to the side of the bed next to a wall! Two large armchairs in room left very little floor space. Bathroom was small, shower was really small and we could not use it as there was no hot water coming from it. I returned to desk to ask for another room, which after a few moments I was given another room which was not much bigger as it still was a family room but at least we had a little more room. The bed sheets were fresh and clean so we accepted this room. Meals were very good and staff were friendly and helpful. We decided to walk round to see our original hotel. Found it closed! It didn’t look as if it was being used at all as windows and outside paintwork were very dirty. We discovered the New Oxford Hotel and the Melville Hotel have the same owners. We were the only party in the Melville Hotel. We were wondering, do David Urquhart inspect the hotels the advertise or do they just accept the photographs that hotels furnish them with? We visit lots of hotels, we use groupon and itison when we want a short holiday break. Our friend received DU gift vouchers for Christmas 2018, and they decided to go to Blackpool and that is why we contacted DU as we wanted to join our friends on a short break. I will be very reluctant to reserve a hotel with DU again as we were really disappointed in this hotels rooms and decor. I give this hotel 1⭐️. Other guests too complained of their showers not having hot water and room very cold.
We give our driver Caroline, who was absolutely brilliant and she receives ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ From us, I know from listening to other guests they too were delighted with our Caroline! We truly enjoyed our excursions to Southport and Liverpool and if God spates is, we hope to pay a visit to a lovely hotel we saw in Southport The Prince of Wales. We are going to check out photographs and ask all our friends if anyone visited this hotel recently. Regards to all at David Urquhart in the hope someone reads reviews.

Really worth the money. Meals, travel, accommodation all very good. I've been on 5 holidays with this company. Very pleased also with the service. "well done" David urquhart.

Just returned home from the Blackpool Illuminations holiday
Coach travel and itinerary were fine but the holiday was spoilt by the choice of hotel
I did look at the website for the Melville Hotel but found that the photos on their website were completely misleading, they were not a true representation of the rooms we were allocated
I would not recommend this holiday if the same hotel is used

DON'T GO , Took us eleven & a half hours to get from Llanelli 7am to Llandudno at 6.30pm. An utter nightmare with the offer of £15 off our next trip 😡
