Christmas order
Normally no probs with placing an order, this time couldn't select a delivery date, ie the only date that came up was December 2025, some prices on the website were more than the latest brochure.
I had to ring on Monday (5th) to place an order, then ring again Tuesday (6th) ie today to ask where my confirmation was.

Their courier just dumps the parcel…
Their courier just dumps the parcel with the expensive contents on the back step in the rain without even ringing the bell. Don't buy unless you want to sit on the back step waiting until the courier decides to deem you worthy of a visit. It’s a shame there isn’t zero stars

It takes no effort to ring a door bell, so chosen courier is obviously not interested in doing their job. Why should a customer have to give permission for a courier to delivery to somewhere else other than their home? It is beyond belief. As this courier is chosen by Dukes Hill, I can only assume they are cheap to use. I will not be spending my money, again on a product that may or may not go off on the back step on a rainy day and only inches away from a door bell.

We are very sorry to hear about your delivery experience and completely understand how frustrating it must have been to find your parcel left outside on the back step in the rain, particularly without the driver ringing the doorbell or making you aware that the delivery had been made.
We appreciate that our customers are ordering premium products from us and quite rightly expect their parcels to be treated with care throughout the entire delivery process. You certainly should not feel that you have to wait outside simply to make sure your order is delivered appropriately.
For future deliveries, the best thing to do is to provide specific delivery instructions for the driver, including your preferred safe place. These instructions are passed across with the delivery so that the driver knows exactly where you would like the parcel to be left if you are unable to receive it personally.
That said, we completely appreciate that this does not excuse your experience on this occasion. Your parcel should have been handled appropriately, and we are very sorry that the delivery has left you feeling so disappointed.
We will make sure your feedback regarding the courier experience is passed on, as the final delivery is an important part of the service our customers receive from us.
Please accept our sincere apologies again for the frustration and disappointment caused, and we hope we have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future.

Bacon produced loads of white stuff when fried
Per my email trail with Chelsie in Customer Services starting over a month ago, I complained that the dry cure bacon I purchsed produced loads of white liquid and some water when it was fried. I sent a photo. The marketing description for the bacon on the web site and brochure claimed (and still claims) 'dry cure, no added water' and 'artisan' curing methods - i.e not like supermarket bacon. And the price was premium.
Chelsie was very polite but could not get the supplier/manufacturer to explain my experience and photo. Just ignored my complaint.
I believe the marketing claims are untrue, and Dukeshill Customer Service is rubbish. Lovely brochures though.
They just lost a customer.
After seeing the manager's AI generated response, and reviewing Chelsie's AI responses, it is clear Dukeshill cares nothing for resolving customer complaints. Placating complainers via AI, yes, but no serious effort to find out what the supplier had done to the bacon sold at a premium price. I cannot fathom why they cannot be bothered to find out!

We would, however, like to reassure you that your complaint was not intentionally ignored. From what you have described, Chelsie raised your concerns and was trying to obtain further information from the supplier so that we could provide you with a proper explanation rather than give you an answer without having the facts. We are very sorry that this process took so long and, more importantly, that you were left feeling as though nothing further was being done.
We also fully appreciate why you questioned the product description after seeing the amount of white liquid released when cooking the bacon. When a product is described as dry cured and no added water, and is sold as a premium product, it is entirely reasonable for you to expect us to properly address your concerns when your experience appears inconsistent with those expectations.
We take the accuracy of our product information and the quality of the food we sell seriously, and feedback such as yours is important. Where a concern requires input from one of our suppliers, we rely on them to provide the technical information needed for us to investigate properly, but we recognise that we remain responsible for keeping you updated while that investigation is taking place. We are sorry that this did not happen as it should have.
I can confirm that a member of our team has now reached out to you directly regarding your complaint so that we can follow this up with you and hopefully bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion.
We are particularly sorry to hear that the experience has resulted in us losing you as a customer. Meat did not arrive for 48 hours following delivery date, so cancelled.
This is the second time I have been disappointed and gravely inconvenienced.
Suggest you change delivery company.

Failure to deliver as promised - poor customer service
I placed an order with this company. For delivery on a Friday - it was sent on Wednesday. I was called on Thursday to offer an alternative for one product as the item I wanted was not available. Full marks here and I accepted the alternative-
The next I had any communication was at 0903 on the Friday of delivery from DPD stating they had just received the item.
As delivery was for that day this seemed irregular and I called dukes hill at 0930 amd queried this. The operator stated they would contact DPD and get back to me.
No one returned my call so I phoned again after 1200 when. It was clear DPD would not de delivering that day.
There didn’t appear to be a record of my earlier call and I had to go through everything again. This lady did return my call and told me DPD had my item and it would likely arrive on Saturday. This was not what I wanted as this would have been inconvenient to wait in for. Further this is a meat product and presumably the ice pack is not designed to last two days. Ot certainly wouldn’t be good sitting on my doorstep on a day I may not be at home.
Whilst I was offered a refund the rather catty remarks from the operator “oh well you’ve made your mind up and I can’t be bothered to argue” were uncalled for (and I made that clear to her).
I was really quite excited to see how these products were (the look and sound amazing) and was initially impressed when a substitution was needed on how you called to check. DPD service in my experience is one of the best courier services for reliability.
I do not know what went wrong here but it would almost seem that either dpd did not collect on the Thursday but at the point they scanned it onto their system or they did and it was processed badly although I suspect that as there was no further scan of the item they were not collected as Duke Hill advised.
I’m disappointed in not being able to try the products (they are not cheap but reviews are good) it’s just a shame administration and poor customer service alienated me.

The heating instructions for the cooked…
The heating instructions for the cooked ham midi Wiltshire resulted in a dry ham . There were no time for heating depending on the size of the ham. The 2 hours on the instructions I feel was much too long for the size of the ham

The guidance on the ham tag specifies 2 hours of heating for a whole ham. As the Midi is a smaller ham, it would not require the same length of time in the oven.

Firstly the choice of delicious…
Firstly the choice of delicious starters, mains and puddings.
All was well packed to arrive in perfect condition which it did.
Now to the taste we purchased ribeye steaks, lemon sponge pudding, smoked salmon and pastrami all were so yummy.The steaks I cooked medium rare and they were so soft and buttery while the lemon sponge pudding was delicate and very moorish the rest will be sampled tomorrow morning.
It is refreshing to find food so lovely in taste and not expensive at all will be ordering again real soon.

As always the products are perfect
As always the products are perfect. I found that there is a problem adding to an existing order. I did this to my last order, and ended up with an almost duplicate order. I wanted to add 2 steaks and another pack of sausages , I ended up with 3 packs of sausages, Blackpudding, 2 packs of bacon chops all on top of my original order. Please make adding to an order straight forward.

A delightful meal
An easy to order website and reliable delivery, with items well packaged. I ordered 3 items:
1. Trout pate - unexpectedly this was the highlight of the order, the pate being packed with delicate flavours. I wish I had ordered more!
2. The porchetta was a bit of a disappointment. Flavoursome and tender rolled pork, but the stuffing was not well distributed and I could not get the crackling to crisp up. It would have been better if the crackling could have been cooked separately, at a higher temperature. The lambchetta, ordered in the Spring, was faultless and better.
3. All was forgiven with the summer puddings, quite the best I have tasted.
Overall, a delightful meal much enjoyed by our guests.
