Darren and his team performed a tricky fix on a fence that had been storm damaged. They replaced and re-cemented posts but were able to re-use the rest of the fence. They were neat and friendly and easy to communicate with. I would definitely use them again.

The work was completed to a high standard, at the agreed time and price, and the staff were were very friendly

I was very happy with EFC from start to finish and have no hesitation in recommending them.

I left a good review earlier in the year but regrettably I have to come back and report a different experience.

Unfortunately it took me a little time to realise and then I was unwell however the featheredge fence I bought has been installed the wrong way round such that looking from my house out into the garden I am looking at the slat ends and not onto a flush finish (as shown in the photo during the planning stage).

I have tried to resolve this amicably with EFC even offering to pay half the costs to have it remedied however they maintain it is my fault for not noticing sooner.

They haven’t actually been able to articulate to me why it was done that way in the first place because it doesn’t make sense. I have reason to believe they noticed during the build but chose to continue regardless and rely on the fact I hadn’t pointed it out. I was working in the house and was not supervising the build. They are a reputable company with good reviews and as a solo female who has never bought a fence before I entrusted them to do the job.

I think I’ve been really reasonable offering to pay half so it’s really disappointing they’ve not entertained the discussion. I am now raising it as a chargeback under my credit card.

Edit: Thanks for your response. I never asked for a refund I asked you to instal the fence as was asked. That is not true I was not asked at all during the build if I was happy for you to proceed. I am not ‘chancing my arm’ because I don’t like it, it’s fundamentally been installed incorrectly. Maybe show your lawyer the photos as everyone I have showed has said ‘ah yes I see what you mean’.

I never asked you to do it for free or ask for a refund. I offered to pay 50% even though I think that you should do it for free I never imagined you would and since having it fixed was my priority I was willing to offer that.

I have tried to work with you to resolve it and I’m unfortunately I’ve not been successful. I’m completely entitled to share my review in public which suggests other supervise the work so as to avoid the situation I’ve had. My dad had offered to come through to supervise whilst I was working however I didn’t think it would be necessary as I couldn’t have contemplated such an odd decision being made about the direction of the panels.

With regards my car purchase the manufacturer built it to the wrong specification and it had to be returned. I’m not sure it’s at all relevant to this situation.

I can very highly recommend the whole Team. The fencing and shed are great and the team have trustworthy, friendly and really work well together. Communication and responsiveness has also been great. I’ll be back in touch when I’m ready to sort out the rest of the fencing. Thank you.

Absolutely excellent experience having my new durapost with gravel board fence installed by EFC, from start to finish. The team worked their socks off and the job was completed within 3 days with all waste removed and the site left clean and tidy. I think the price was very transparent, fair and reasonable and I would have no hesitation in recommending EFC to others.

Donna was great. She provided an itemised quote, was quick to adapt it as requested and also sent relevant photos, explaining what different terms meant. After booking, Darren cancelled five times due to weather, then was so late in arriving on the day he had to return the next morning when I had another commitment. As he needed access to my electricity while I was out he suggested I give him a house key. I put an extension cable through a cat flap. He had asked for water when he arrived so I gave him a full watering can from my flat. A while later when I offered more, he had already helped himself to rainwater from my garden waterbut which left me short for the pond. Two mature honeysuckles were ripped out even though I was at home and could have lifted them properly for transplanting. There was one new fence post less than quoted for and he suggested it was stolen from my garden overnight. In adapting to having one less post the next day when I was out, he attached the end of the fence to the building by drilling into the wall which belongs to my downstairs neighbour. This was done without trying to contact me for permission, which was also needed from my neighbour (as required by my title deeds). I think another post should have been fetched. At least one of the old fence post concrete bases was left in the ground which I wasn't expecting. I had arranged for a benton bolt on the outside of the gate but it was put on the inside, however Darren was quick to correct that. Despite my asking to retain the old gate ironware and having agreed to an extra charge for transferring them to the new gate, they were disposed of. I didn't complain about the water and the shrubs. Darren was very defensive about the missing post, the wall and the ironware. It was unpleasant that he was full of excuses rather than apologies and I had to argue for the bill to be corrected, which Donna did do. Luckily my neighbours gave permission in retrospect but I found it humiliating to be put in that position and disappointing that Darren blamed me for going out and pretended he didn't have my phone number. Overall I like the end result (except the destroyed shrubs) but after booking, the process was very stressful and annoying.

Second time using Edinburgh Fencing and really impressed with the work. Darren, Donna and team are really easy to deal with and would have no hesitation recommending.

Darren and the team were punctual, friendly, hardworking and skilled at their job. We’re very pleased with the repairs to our fences after the storm. It was a big job- 2 long 6ft fences needing new posts and some rails and slats replaced- done in 2 days. Thanks guys!

Darren and the team did an excellent job on our fence. Quote was reasonable and they provided a detailed breakdown and cost of each component required.

The job itself entailed removing an old metal fence and putting in a new wooden fence around 7 meters long into a concrete base. They came up with a solution and went the extra mile to get the job finished. It looks great and we’re very happy with the standard of work.
