First Port are a dreadful company to deal with. No response to my online customer service request. Then I called and was 'told' various things on the phone. I asked for a simple update when the matter was considered and was informed this wouldn't be possible.

Worst customer service I have received for an awful long time.

Good but not great.
The service for the most part is ok, definitely improved over the last few years.

I do feel more effort could be made to clear overhead and make the service more affordable - what is provided and paid for are not on par.

Royal Ness Court Inverness is in an excellent location, close to the River Ness with doctors, shop and theatre nearby. For those that are able it is about a 20 minute walk into town alongside the river. We have a residential Development Manager Diane who has been with us for 7 years and goes beyond the call of duty especially for those who need assistance

We recently stayed here for 5 days and what a wonderful time we had . The guest room was very comfortable with everything we needed and more . We had a wonderful welcome from two of the residents on arrrival and the Manager Janet was wonderful she couldn’t do enough for us .If we lived here permanently we would be very happy residents . Overnight stay Thursday 9/6/22 as we were out for dinner with our friend who is a resident.
Room spotless nice aspect looking out onto rear garden and patio area.
Facilities excellent including kitchen area with fridge,microwave cooker,cups, tea, coffee,milk and kettle.
Ensuite spotless, hottest shower I have ever experienced!!
All linen and towels provided including in kitchen area.
Plenty of storage space, mirrored doors on wardrobe a nice touch. Comprehensive information about the room, facilities and points of interest locally.
Icing on the cake :- comfiest bed I have slept in for ages !!
Manager Stephen an absolute star could not have been more helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Very well done an excellent job and delightful overnight stay.

I bought a property around a year ago with FirstPoint as the maintenance company. The lack of communication is terrible, no replies to emails for weeks and without notice putting up service charge by ~300%. This has been a terrible experience and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone if they had the choice.

I was visiting my father, who lives in another development. Their guest room was full, and I was offered the use of the guest room here.
Eman was really helpful. I was able to pay by card. As I was arriving out with Eman’s working time, she sent me a lovely email explaining how to gain access, where guest room, etc were situated, and where key would be left. She re-affirmed this info with a follow up email on the day I travelled.
The guest room itself was spotlessly clean. It was bright, with large windows and a door leading out to a patio area in the garden. The mini kitchen/fridge were very handy. There was tea, coffee and milk on hand. I could get Sky news on the telly, and the shower was fab - again spotlessly clean and nice and hot.
Best of all, the bed was really comfy, and was all made up with crisp clean linen on arrival.
All in all, it was a really pleasant stay. Eman made the whole booking process easy, and the accommodation was bright, clean, and comfortable.

My mum moved into Muirfield Court in March. It was a big move for her as she is 89 years of age, had lived in her previous home for nearly 60 years and was moving right across the city (to be nearer to myself and my husband).

Yan understood this and, even before Mum moved in, provided us with all the necessary information and advice. Her warm smile and calm disposition really sets the tone for the development, as everyone is so friendly, caring and welcoming.

Yan keeps the development, and the beautiful surrounding gardens, spotlessly clean and tidy. She is always around making sure everything is up to standard and arranges all necessary repairs and maintenance as quickly as possible.

Yan looks out for all the residents and makes sure that everyone is safe and well, which is a great comfort to the family.

Mum loves the weekly activities, which together with Yan's kindness and the warmth and support of the other residents, have helped Mum settle into the her new home where she is thoroughly enjoying life.

Yan is a very kind, competent manager who is perfectly suited to her role.

Mike is a very positive person to have around. He is always ready to help residents with their problems , for example when I needed help setting up my TV channels recently.
He has set up monthly coffee mornings for us and often provides homemade cake as well as biscuits.
We also have a fortnightly exercise class which is not so popular.
Many of the residents have family visiting frequently and don’t seem to want in house activities.
I am not so fortunate and would love more.

Looking through these reviews in my opinion give a false impression of first port, all the positive reports are about the on site manager these should not be confused with the bad service first port gives

I have had an absolutely dreadful experience of First Port, and this sentiment is shared by the other residents of my close. We require significant works to the void under the close floor. The need for these works was identified in September 2021 and are currently still outstanding, with seemingly very little action or impetus from First Port to move things forward. Despite our escalation of complaints against First Port the service and communication we receive continues to be of an extremely poor standard - my partner and I often receive important emails second hand from other residents. Additionally, the fees that we are charged for the level of service we receive seems completely unjustifiable and disproportionate, particularly when compared to similar closes in the area. The service fee in particular is egregious since First Port carry out no maintenance or upkeep on our close. Additionally, the building insurance policy that we have in place is extremely expensive and has been completely unhelpful in light of the required works, it leaves you wondering what we are even paying for.

I would advise any potential customers to stay away and find an alternative factor.

We have lived here for 12years. Since our new area manager Julie Walton has been appointed and our new visiting house manager David we are now experiencing a much more relaxed and happier life in our development. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for him, a definite people person. Julie also willing to listen to our problems and sorts them out to her best
ability. The development now has a happy feel about it.

The House Manager provides a service which ensures that residents can live independently without having to worry about the day to day running of the complex. Ruth ensures that those providing services to Hometay House do so efficiently. Building and grounds are well maintained.

Homecairn House, Edinburgh. I had a one night stay in the guest room of this development. The room was perfect. It has two very comfortable single beds and plenty wardrobe space within the bedroom. There is a small kitchen which has everything you need if you want to prepare food and a table to sit at.
The ensuite shower room was fantastic with plenty of towels supplied.
The shower room, bedroom and kitchen were spotlessly clean as was the bedding.
The room was warm and it was very quiet overnight.
A nice touch was milk in the fridge on arrival and some small packs of biscuits. Thank you

I moved to Eden Court (Cupar, Fife) the first week of November 2021. There were several firsts involved in this move-- it was my first experience living in a senior living facility (although I had seriously considered a similar situation in the United States), and there were many unfamiliar aspects to living somewhere other than the United States--everything from something as simple as learning to use the washing machines to the more complex dealing with council taxes and choosing utility providers. In addition, there were concerns about the covid virus, as it affected living in a facility of this sort and also how I could protect myself by obtaining booster vaccinations.

Thanks to assistance and direction provided by Maria Newlands, administrator of the Eden Court facility, assimilation here has been easily accomplished. Even before I moved to Scotland, Maria met with my family and provided access to the apartment I was considering so that photographs could be provided to help me make the decision to move. From that time to the present the has helped me become familiar with living in Scotland encouraging and enabling me to assimilate into society here. And my concerns dealing with covid and other such matters were put to rest as I saw all the safeguards that were instituted.

Maria has helped me contact a local clinic in order to facilitate receiving needed vaccinations. She pointed out that there was an error in my council taxes that could have been costly for me, and has helped me in a multitude of ways to become comfortable in this new environment.

I suppose many conscientious managers would have provided much of the assistance I've mentioned, but I've been particularly impressed with Maria's never-falling good nature and sincere willingness to help. She anticipates possible difficulties, as well, and, through several methods of communication prepares the
Eden Court community of what needs to h,appen and then takes measures to provide the help needed. For example, during recent problems with leaking water pipes, when it was necessary to turn off water to parts of the building, she not only notified residents of the times water would not be available, but also came, with volunteer aid, to each apartment to provide bottles of water.

However, one of the things I appreciate most about Maria is the manner in which she makes life enjoyable here at Eden Court. The lounge is open to everyone (covid restrictions permitting), and she arranges numerous events there--well-planned events that are most enjoyable. When restricted, she provides ways in which treats of some sort are brought to each apartment or made readily available for people to stop by one at a time to receive items prepared and distributed responsibly.

I was unsure about living in a senior facility. After my children were grown and my husband had died, I enjoyed living in my home on my own. I still travel a great deal, but I'm happy to return home to Eden Court under Maria's supervision. I definitely feel she welcomes everyone and is devoted to providing the most well-run environment of her considerable ability.

Writing this on behalf of my nana who has enjoyed her time immensely at Knights Court, Perth.

"I have recently been made aware of a review for Knights Court which referred to it as a dumping ground for people with dementia and I felt like I needed to respond to it. I very much hope that it does not put people off from buying/staying in Knights Court. I first came to Knights Court in 2001 with my husband. We had a great social life here - there is always something to do and things get planned for us all the time! In 2015, my husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer-Dementia and in 2018 my own health deteriorated. But due to the care of my family, friends, Frank (house manager) and Yvonne (cleaning) I was well looked after.

I lost Jim in February 2019 then had to shield due to COVID-19. I was so glad to be in Knights Court - the residents kept in touch with me and my family were so grateful to Frank and Vyonne for looking out for me and checking in on me when they couldn't due to the restrictions. They always go above and beyond and make us all feel very looked after.

People should not be judged on falling ill and that has never been the way with the residents of Knights Court. Please do not let this other review put you off from coming here.

My wife and I have lived in Eden Court for 7 years. My wife has an incurable and extremely rare form of cancer and I am registered blind and have a guide dog. We have experienced extreme friendliness and helpfulness from the majority of the residents of Eden Court, but from day one have had to put up with unpleasant remarks and behaviour from a small number of the residents. A year ago a new manager, Maria, was appointed to the complex, and she has managed to subdue this unpleasant behaviour and to introduce a much more open and friendly regime to the building. Her door is always open, and she is always cheerful and welcoming.

Plus factors for Eden Court - firstly, location location location. We are situated at the railway station which is on the East Coast main line, and at bus stops with frequent services to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, St Andrews and local stops, and we are within a couple of hundred yards or so of Lidl, Tesco, Aldi and the town centre. There are several easy walks almost on our doorstep, including the Orchard walk, the Haugh park and the Curling Pond park all along the Eden river.

Minus factors for Eden Court - very few now. Maria manages to deal with most problems speedily and effectively and has managed to instil a more relaxed and pleasant atmosphere in the complex. The main downside is the length of time some contractors seem to take to effect minor repairs to the fabric of the building, such as changing light bulbs and repairing light fittings.

My wife and I have lived in Eden Court for 16 years we now have new manager Maria who is enthusiastic and always willing to help with any problems she organises many social events since she came our gardens have never looked so good hopefully she will stay for many years.

My Auntie has lived in Knights Court since it first opened. She has always been very happy here. She has enjoyed the location in the centre of town having easy access to all the shops. There is also a large park nearby where she would walk everyday. The carpark and communal areas are all very clean and well maintained. There is always a very warm welcome from Frank the manager and Yvonne when people arrive to visit. The complex has a nice homely feel and social events get organised for the residents so they can mix and have entertainment. Frank and Yvonne are very approachable and are always available with help or any advice. I am very grateful to them both for the kindness they have shown me when I have needed their help.

My mother bought a flat at Midstocket Mews Aberdeen Scotland and was extremely happy there until she passed away in 2020. She enjoyed the social life, felt very safe and was especially fond of the Manager Dawn. Dawn is extremely professional inher role she is consistently friendly approachable and helpful to every resident, even if they fisplay challenging behaviour. She has also been hugely supportive to my family during the time my mum lived there and beyond. It is a lovely place made special by the efforts of an amazing manager. We'll done first port, she's a keeper!
