Shellseekers rental via Fresh Air Property Management disaster
We rented #Shellseekers at Bracklesham Bay through Airbnb, the management company being #Fresh Air Property Management. This was listed as “luxury seafront home with swimming pool”. We arrived to find a large machine next to the indoor pool with power cables running along the floor, stuck down with adhesive tape. We were told the dehumidifier had just broken (not true, a review two weeks earlier mentioned they couldn’t use the pool due to a problem). We expressed our concern about this electrical equipment next to the pool but were repeatedly told it was safe. They refused to say who said it was safe. We were told the dehumidifier would be repaired Friday (day three). It wasn’t, then our calls chasing this up were ignored. They insisted the cables were safe and tucked away. They were lying on the pool floor. We have masses of photos and videos.
We left a negative review on Airbnb also mentioning the rusty BBQ which they denied saying it was surface rust on the outside only. We have many photos showing it was thick of rust inside and out.
We mentioned the door seal which fell out meaning we couldn’t close the door, so were stuck in the house. The odd job man arrived and cut it off, but we could see the door frame was buckled and no doubt the reason it fell out. They denied the buckled door, again, we have plenty of photos of this.
The shower went bang when I was in it. Again the odd job man came out and put a new shower head on. He tested the shower for ten minutes and said he was not happy about the temperature fluctuation (30-42) up and down and would recommend a new shower. The management company claimed there was no problem. Simply told to use a different shower.
I note that somebody else on a review mentioned they had 17 issues with this property and I can certainly understand this.
In my opinion the house would benefit from refurbishment, as another review mentioned.
Two rooms were without power when we arrived and it turns out a fuse had tripped. Fresh Air say this happens, but fuses trip for a reason, a safety issue. They simply told us over the phone to flick the switch, nobody called to check why this had happened.
After over thirty years of renting we have never had a problem until this. We contacted Airbnb who offered us the only sum they offer, ten percent of the first night. £81. We paid over £7,000 for eight nights and only chose this property because of the pool.
Fresh Air wrote a review saying we would never be happy, but that is so untrue. Having an ironing board collapse on my foot as it was completely rusted through, the list is endless. And yes, we have many photos and videos to prove all this.
The instructions for the temporary machine in the pool state clearly not to be operated near children. We had a two year old with us. They will no doubt respond putting the blame on us. I am happy to be contacted via Trustpilot and can supply anybody with photos and videos.
