George and dragon Epping - incompetent staff
So went for a drink - red wine and guiness - £21 (£14 for wine - glass of and £7 for a pint of guiness - rip off).
You don’t mind paying for good service but that isn’t what we got. Far from it.
Nowhere to sit after buying drinks so spoke to a member of staff managing the dining area. Asked if we could sit for a drink only and was told it’s only for dining but made a gesture which made me believe it was okay as a one off.
Got our drinks and went back to sit down. Another member of staff - a lady this time - clearly horrified that another member of staff had said it was okay to sit in the dining area (which was empty by the way!). Begrudgingly she took us to a table.
Couple of minutes later and stated that ‘In future I shouldn’t make up stories about staff saying we can sit somewhere when you can’t’.
So so rude. Considering we had just been ripped off she had the audacity to come and speak to me like that. I have been to this place before and she struggles with customer service generally but this was ridiculous. An empty dining area and rather than let customers have a quick drink she made us feel so uncomfortable and ask for a refund and left. We then went to The Black Lion over the road and paid £15 for a large wine and Guinness.
Lovely pub. Incompetent staff. Ridiculous prices!!!!
