The GMC

The GMC, I was thinking about writing to the GMC, but after reading people's reviews, I decided, what's the point? I could write to my GP and make a complaint, but what is the point of that, they always try to 'talk themselves out of any 'wrong-doing', same with the NHS, if you speak to any complaints body you never get any satisfactory response. Its a sad depressing UK which has become just as corrupt as the rest of the world out there. There is no honestly or integrity in any organisations in the UK. The UK has become just as corrupt as countries that people think are the worst corrupted countries. The UK has become just as corrupted by ignoring peoples complaints about GPs malpractice and the NHS.

Duty of candour? Failure of care to GP practice's financial advantage

Unfortunately, the practice partner's at our GP surgery repeatedly misdiagnosed my late wife's symptoms of stomach and abdominal pains as indigestion and placed her on Omeprazole to reduce the amount and strength of stomach acids. They did this for 8 months without review. Despite ongoing stomach and abdominal problems, nothing was done other than to tell her it was nothing to worry about and there weren't enough symptoms for it to be a concern. Records reveal that my wife was also encouraged to diagnose herself. A trainee locum saw my wife nearly 9 months later and immediately recognised these as RED FLAG CANCER symptoms, she took full bloods which revealed a CA125 marker 3 times higher than normal. Despite the locum's best efforts, (she did everything she could to recover the situation) sadly it was too late and my wife died 20 weeks later of stomach cancer. The practice have since deleted 50% of the Omeprazole drug (controlling the acids and allowing my wife to function on a daily basis) to show an intermittent use of the drug in which they claim she could go several weeks at a time without suffering pains which would incapacitate her within hours if she missed just one dose! Witnessed and questioned by me. The intermittent use of the drug has now been used to support their claim they couldn't possibly have known about the cancer sooner. Just to be extra certain, they deleted my wife's family history of cancer too (father died of cancer) after the life insurance had paid out. Tampering with a deceased's patient records is a criminal offence under the COMPUTER MISUSE ACT 1990. Subsequently, the GMC found that the practice partner involved in my wife's 'care' had done nothing wrong by declining to tell her she was dying, (duty of candour?) preferring instead to hand me a DS1500 form recording the hand written words "palliative care" therein before showing us the surgery door. (I had no idea, but the DS 1500 is an expenses claim form for the terminally ill). Everything went blurred and I think I went into shock. I said nothing to my wife about what I had read or what the Dr had done to us. After my wife died, I contacted the surgery to ask why the partner had behaved in such a way towards us. She denied it, saying I was mistaken and must have been in shock. Unfortunately for the practice partner, the oncologist wrote to her advising her of my wife's reaction at being told she was dying and it was too late to do anything. The partner continued to deny her lack of candour, until confronted with the evidence at which point, with the assistance of her legal team she crafted a letter with an excuse that it "was an act of compassion" to not tell my wife "in case a cure could have been found the following day" (the oncologist appointment date).
I have empathy with those that have to deliver messages like this but like most reasonable people I do not appreciate being lied to and subjected falsehood. I was so disgusted I referred the matter of record tampering (Criminal offences) to the GMC who tell me it is not a matter for them to investigate and I should take it up with the police! The refusal to be candid with my wife and lying to me was also referred. The GMC response to this was there were no issues to be concerned with as it was the GP's word against mine. I mentioned the small matter of the rather cross oncologist who wrote to the awful GP but that didn't change things. Documentary evidence of an oncologist would appear to be insufficient to these people! I am used to dealing with dishonesty, falsehood, fraud record tampering etc. but never dreamt that I would be issuing warnings to the public to beware of medical Dr's and their supporting organisations. I won't allow my 3 children to go to any surgery alone and have encouraged them to record and document any dealings they have with the medical profession. A pity as I worked with many good police surgeons over the years. GMC shame on you - Tim Ward Police Sergeant (retired)

Corrupt organisation

Corrupt organisation. The GMC are a corrupt organisation who keep dangerous doctors in work.

A GP has been protected by the GMC for killing a family member. Despite clear evidence of his negligence. He keeps his job and continues to be a serious risk to the public.

Sadly. the GMC are equally as corrupt as the parliamentary health service ombudsman (PHSO).

We must all realise that these 2 organisations are corrupt and reporting these organisations to your MP will be the first steps.

We must not let dangerous doctors work in the NHS.

I am disgusted how the GMC treat people…

I am disgusted how the GMC treat people I have had my medical records redacted as has a vulnerable lady with learning disabilities ..I've sent complaints about conduct of GPS and consultants
one of these continually had complaints made about him
Now over 14 months ago nothing responded to.
I've also had private medical appointments paid by my insurance company during NHS clinic appointments time .I've not had vital.health checks needed and neither has a lady with learning disabilities
I took a lady with learning disabilities for her first mamogram at 54 only because I told her she needed one she had not been called for one .
We have such awful times now . Ive suffered at the hands of the police , the social services , regulators like GMC and CQC . The regulator's are not fit for purpose .
We can trust no one but ourselves .it's such an awful time to be alive .
I have PTSD and cannot get any counselling .

They really ought to switch the M in…

They really ought to switch the M in their name to stand for General Moron Council. They are a bunch of simple minded fools who protect other simple minded fools. I've never met a doctor, surgeon, consultant, physio, nurse or any of the other myriad titles they have, who wasn't a complete and utter simpleton and a liar. One time a GP said to me "You'll have to leave now I have a waiting room full of patients" so I walked into the completely empty waiting room, explained to the receptionist (and gestured to the 0 people waiting) then was allowed back in. Look up the list of midwives who have been suspended and look up what they were suspended for, it makes for horrific reading. The GMC have a God complex and the people they protect have a God complex they think they are never wrong when in actuality they are more wrong than right. Look how they all hid under their desks during covid. Before covid they wore a mask of concern, they wore it well but since covid the mask has slipped and more and more see what the medical profession is. Doctor's bury their mistakes.
Never enter a consultation with any NHS employee without recording it. Even if it's over the phone. Record it and catch their lies. Then get a solicitor because even if you provide incontrovertible evidence the GMC will do nothing.

VILE ORGANISATION THAT PROTECTS THE DRS

Let's face it the NHS is beyond a joke .
Drs kill people , they cripple people and the NHS complaints procedure stinks .
Cheif executives and the slime they have as so call complaints investigators all stick together and lie through their back teeth and will do anything to protect their cronies .
Pals , health watch and the GMC all cower and hide behind the joke service (their back up) they call the parliamentary health ombudsmen service.
But what gets my blood boiling is how these people at the GMC fobb me off and say the Dr did nothing wrong when my girlfriend is left crippled waiting for ankle fusion and foot reconstructive surgery because 1 Dr has it in for her , and this Dr told several Drs at 3 different trusts not to repair her broken ankle .
The GMC are another bunch of scumbags trying to tell us what the Dr did and didn't do .
4 and a half years my girlfriend has been in agony .
2 Drs " HID " YES HID her ct scan results from her because she has abscesses and cysts in her ankle , a split ankle bone & 4 broken toes and the Dr lies and so does all his mates at Doncaster Bassetlaw Teaching hospitals saying the hospital trust doesn't do the surgery she needs but the Dr is all over the internet as an ankle specialist who does reconstructive surgery and ankle fusion .
The GMC are as currupt as everyone else at the NHS .
Ignorant people who wouldn't know my girlfriend and i if we walked in their building.
Beurocrats who only care about defending scumbag Drs .
The NHS isn't fit for purpose like their joke complaints procedure.
GMC send garbage via email making NHS negligence victims out to be liars .
The NHS all do the dirty in the same bucket .
No wonder so many people end up assaulting NHS staff !!

Unlawful decision making.

I made a complaint regarding a consultant who made a misdiagnosis. Following a very poor Fitness to Practice enquiry into my complaint the GMC agreed to review the enquiry however they concluded that the consultant had followed local trust guidelines so did nothing wrong, when I provided further evidence proving the guidelines were not followed the GMC then changed their mind and decided that the fact the guidelines were not followed did not matter as other doctors had concluded the consultant did nothing wrong even though these other doctors were friends and colleagues of the consultant subject of the enquiry and stated he had followed the guidelines!

So basically the GMC are saying it is ok for a doctor not to follow best practice even though that failure to
follow trust guidelines led to a severe medical condition. The consultant also completed appalling medical records omitting important information from the records and failed to tell the patient his diagnosis.

The enquiry by the GMC took two years and they refused to contact the consultant for an explanation why the guidelines were not followed or notify the trust of the enquiry.

The only way to challenge this decision is a judicial review which would cost thousands of pounds, the GMC know that and are therefore able to make unlawful decisions knowing they won’t be challenged in a vast majority of the cases. If you were to win the Judicial review that only means the GMC have to review their decision and no doubt the GMC would just make the same decision again as it suits their agenda.

The GMC are not fit for purpose and make unlawful decisions as the decisions are not based on evidence provided. When you then try and raise concerns about the decision they advise that they will not respond to further emails or telephone calls and to seek a Judicial review.

GMC legal then state that if you do pursue a Judicial review they threaten you with recovering their costs.

The whole system is corrupt.

This consultant breached many aspects of the Good Medical Practice but apparently that does not mean a Fitness to Practice issue and his supervisor does not need to be notified so he is allowed to continue without challenge.

I emailed the CEO of the GMC but of course he was too busy to respond personally.

I also contacted Professional Standards who regulate the GMC to advise they are making decisions based on incorrect information, they advised they were unable to intervene, not sure therefore the purpose of regulation if they are unable to take action when the GMC are making decisions using wrong information.

The GMC took two years to complete this enquiry so they were never going to take action against this doctor or they would have faced criticism for not taking action months earlier, sweeping the complaint under the carpet is an easier option for the GMC but maybe not for future patients who have to see this particular doctor.

You only need to read stories in the media regarding what an unfair and biased organisation the GMC is, my experience proves they have a long way to go to gain public trust.

My advice to anyone looking for redress against the NHS is having been through the complete complaints procedure from PALS to the PHSO and finally the GMC is to avoid the whole procedure as you will not be treated fairly, you will be lied to and as they attempt to cover up the incident to protect the NHS.

If you have the evidence go down the legal route and save yourself a lot of time and frustration trying to deal with these appalling organisations.

As for consultants themselves they get away with no action whatsoever and are free to go on strike for more pay £100000+ is apparently not enough whilst their patients lay dying in hospital, no wonder the NHS is in crisis.

Another one star review

Another one star review, these jokers are not fit for purpose and don't care about patients, had a medical procedure done that i was never told about and it is not on the consent form I signed, the surgeon in question even admitted in a letter that he never told me,these useless liers said he did nothing wrong and closed my case ,this has left me with depression and low self confidence, how can a surgeon remove part of your finger and think it's exceptable behaviour to not tell the patient, these planks at the gmc don't even follow there own rules for surgical consent, absolutely disgusting, judging by the reviews have they ever helped anybody, I think not.

I recorded evidence of the doctor…

I recorded the doctor abusing me.

The abuse was criminal abuse.

I transcribed and presented the recordings to the GMC.

The GMC concluded my case without making a single comment on the recorded evidence of abuse. The GMC used gaslighting to reframe my conclusion as relating to me asking for a second medical opinion. The GMC said they cannot give second medical-opinion, and closed my case.

Funny

This organisation is corrupt and does not operate within the legal framework. They have limited legitimate authority over healthcare institutions including medical schools. They abuse the little power they attain through their guidelines whenever there is another hysteria among the medical plebs. There are human right violations in medicine in the UK they will do nothing about. There is comedy in training mediocre doctors who refuse to treat people they don't like.

What Is This Organisation's Role Exactly?

At this time, 8am on 14/02/2023, the most important topic on the gmc-uk.org website is "We all have a responsibility to act when we see or hear racism" (cut and pasted into here). It fills the entire page.

I thought this Organisation was set up regarding Doctors. It seems that there are boxes below, if you scroll far enough, where you can check the status of a GP, or register etc.

This isn't an opinion. The most important topic on a website is what it exists for - 'we sell washing machines' etc. This is the introduction page... These people have made their number one priority 'tackling racism', before catching any Shipmans or keeping babies safe. This is a fact. I took a screenshot as evidence.

This is really all you need to know about any organisation. What is its 'lip service'? What matters most? Apparently, keeping people safe doesn't matter. Keeping Doctors safe, not so important. Keeping Britain credible, again far less important than whether we all remember differences in race... Lets put the focus on each other's race and lets draw attention to whether we are treating each other equally or not, because we might have forgotten these differences. We might already be doing this, but what is important is whether or not we notice that we are doing this. That seems to be our fault. Allowing days in our lives to go unchecked, where we don't notice any racism going on around us... This website seems to have been set up to make this a priority - to find and tackle racism everywhere we see it...

Now as for my own experience with them, as everybody has already written, they seem to exist just to collect money from Doctors whilst not really keeping people safe (too busy with the racism stuff to notice the role they were created for maybe?). I had a mesh fitted, where the Doctor cut a chunk out of my stomach and sewed me together sideways onto a mesh, so that my muscles do not meet in the middle any more. This has been tearing away for 18 months and throughout the NHS they keep ignoring this and fobbing me off, despite several scans.

This was a hernia, created from anxiety that happened after taking prescribed controlled drugs. Those were not checked for 3 years, contrary to NICE Guidelines. They don't care about their own guidelines.

I also sat in front of a PIP Panel, where the Judge and two 'Specialists' including a GP told me that there are 66 hours in a day. I am at the gym 'every day' in their own words whilst at home planning a keto diet, which they went to lengths to write is a complicated process and needs lots of planning, which they wanted to make a point about. I go cycling regularly, on top of the daily gym, which is an hour's walk away making my daily gym sessions 4 hours long, plus a shower that I also have daily according to this GP, along with making music at home, making clothes, whilst out shopping for specialist keto ingredients, whilst cooking on my bicycle whilst cycling to the seasside 60 miles away... The list was endless and averaging out the actitivities it came to over 66 hours per day... This GP could not see how insane that was.

I sat in the hearing having heart pains, symptoms of a stroke. I have reported all symptoms that I have been overdosing on 'amphetamines' for 3 years and nobody cared. This GP on the Panel didn't flinch at the heart pains I was having before her. Didn't care if I died there and then.

This was videoed, but the visual part 'wasn't recorded' according to the Judges. They provided an 'mp4' with audio only, where it is clear I didn't sleep the night before and had slurred speech, also a clear sign of a possible stroke. No concern.

All of this was reported to the GMC and they didn't care. Didn't care about overdosing for 3 years. Didn't care about being sewn together sideways. Didn't care if I killed somebody cycling home from the hearing, because I was effectively drunk having not slept.

Is there really any point in this organisation existing, apart from the paycheques for important people, obviously?

Oh... Maybe I missed the point... Maybe they exist to 'stop racism'... I think the penny might finally have dropped.

Funnily enough, in my PIP experience I called them out for being racist, which seems to be relevant in this case. I noticed how many posh, white, males were in every position of power in every position of escalation, promoting 'friends' and presumably 'relatives' with the same names at the same time... Since the GMC makes such a point about race and racism, it does make you wonder if the priority is deflection because of just how racist they are! They don't have any time for looking into the safety of GPs because they're so busy tackling racism, maybe?

So do we on the outside really need reminding of this kind of thing? Are they just reminding themselves?

Fraudulent, incompetent liars!!!

As a patient who as had several dealings with the GMC. I can safely say that the GMC are fraud and do not protect the patients rights. They do not provide justice, they systematically promote your rights being infringed allowing doctors to to cause suffering and stress whilst being exempt from accountability.

Charade

Requires that you 'prove' your fitness to practise concerns straight away (probably 'beyond a reasonable doubt' too, and not 'on the balance of probablities'), which begs the question as to what the purpose of an investigaion or conduct hearing is.

This organisation happilly lets unscrupulous medical practioners get away with murder.

Reported this organisation to my local MP and also the health secretary of the country. They are not fit for purpose and DO NOT protect patients in any way shape or form. They are allowing surgeons to operate on women who are being botched on a daily basis then threatened by the surgeons solicotors if they dare to complain or write a review. There are hundreds of women who have been botched and dozens complained within the last few months yet nothing has been done. This organisation should be investigated urgently!
